I've seen that "oh, she's the mom-friend and the only one with her life together, just going around picking up the boys' messes" opinion too many times, I am hissing warily.

That's way too simplified, stop reducing her depth, she's much more complicated and also even inside the mom-energy she admittedly has, it's like. Hm.

She does have some mom-energy (affectionate) but I think she also has mom-energy (derogatory). Y'know?

#kh #aqua #I've been in writers block for a month #so I'm just thinking about the characters #and consuming a lot of KH media #to try and get back in the right headspace #so some aqua thoughts because the sun is down and it's time for rambling #the thing is I want to acknowledge how strong and skilled she is #but I also want to poke at all the mess I glimpse under the surface too #except the girls in KH get side-lined enough I don't want to come off #like I'm dismissing or undermining her you know? but #I have very complicated feelings on Aqua #from certain angles I see 'just-graduated-high-school' me #so I'm always playing the 'is this projection or is this an accurate reading of the text' game #...it's somewhere in the middle probably #she looks very put together most of the time #but then there's those handful of scenes #where she suddenly says something and I'm snapping my head to the side like '???' #'oh we're re-contextualizing EVERYTHING you're doing now'
