ok being low-empathy is actually so fucking weird now that i'm aware of it. the strangest part is that i can feel the emotions of fictional people just fine, to the point where it's sometimes more intense than my real-life experiences of the same things.
the moment the person is real, though? nothing. they fall straight off my radar. vanished unto the void. i know logically other people have emotions, and i can even identify what they are sometimes, but it's based on conscious pattern recognition and practiced behavioral routines. i'm not feeling that shit at all. why empathy only work for fake people??? makes no sense

Note
?? empathy culture is struggling to identify "empathy" from "sympathy" and struggling to sense when you're feeling The Emotion (cause you can't tell which it is) regarding most real life situations, but then bawling your eyes out when watching a movie or reading a book where someone dies, even if you've just met them.
Like, what is even happening? *shakes brain* Please, I need answers! /lh
you might find the term fictoempathy useful?
