No, he’s def thought about it 😭 and it’s definitely a big part of their conversations surrounding marriage and kids 😭 they do get married very quickly but the kids conversation is more nuanced and stuff bc she’s hoping to get tenure and that’s 5-6 years AT LEAST and he doesn’t want to push but also wants to be practical because he’d like to be around for that!

Kate however is worried about him not wanting kids, having lived alone for so long. He, however, is worried she’ll say no, which he’d be fine with, but he is also mentally debating which room they could turn into a nursery. They’re engaged and she brings up maybe getting checked out at the doctor’s and maybe starting to try after the wedding and he’s like 😁😁😁😁😁 and they’re pregnant with Edmund in October, so shoutout to a high sperm count in “geriatric Anthony,” as you called him! Miles comes two years later, and Charlotte comes four years later, as it takes longer for them to get pregnant, and they’re also busy with two kids and their little academic careers!

But to answer the original question—yeah, he does think about the fact that he’s older than her and likely will d word first and she gets very upset if he makes some sort of off-handed joke about how she should date around once he’s gone and I’m too lazy to find a picture of the duck with a knife so here’s a gif of it as a cookie that tumblr has provided me with.

To sum it up—he’s got a complex relationship with life and death and he spent a lot of his life feeling like he was going to die at 38, only to meet Kate at that age and feel like his life was finally beginning, and then he spends a lot of time worrying he’s actually going to die and leave behind his wife and kids he loves very much and very upset at the prospect of that bc he wants every last second with them!
