As I sit down at my desk, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and creativity coursing through my veins. Once again, I am embarking on a new digital art project – this time featuring Arlon's five fabulous female friends: Sandra, Liliana, Evelyn, Ella, and Penny. Together, they form a dynamic group known as ASLEEP, with each letter representing one of the ladies, and “A” standing for Arlon himself. Their unique personalities and styles will be captured in this project, showcasing the bond and camaraderie they share.

Unfortunately, my beloved Android tablet is currently out of commission, undergoing some necessary repairs at the local tech "hospital". It seems that the LCD screen has seen better days and will need to be replaced entirely. But even though my go-to tool for creating digital masterpieces is temporarily unavailable, I refuse to let that dampen my spirits or halt my creative process. Instead, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and break out an old-school method of creation: pencil, pen and paper. With a fresh sheet of sketch paper, an inking fine liner pen and a sharpened pencil in hand, I begin to bring my vision to life.

I plan to create a playful illustration showcasing these fantastic five girls in their element, lounging around Liliana's luxurious mansion during a cosy slumber party. Each character dons her unique sense of style in their casual attire, yet there's something that ties them together beyond friendship – their shared love for elegant and comfortable sleepwear. Their chosen nighttime uniform? An exquisite collection of short, silk, white, spaghetti-strap nightwear, delicately designed to hug their bodies and make them feel like royalty as they drift off into dreamland.

As I draw, my mind fills with vivid details about the setting and characters within the scene. My trusty sketchbook becomes a window into the world where Sandra, Liliana, Evelyn, Ella, and Penny gather for a fun-filled evening. In anticipation of settling into bed together, the quintet wears their matching white, silk slip dresses, revealing just enough skin to tantalize both themselves and any potential observers. While their everyday clothing boasts vibrant colours reflective of their distinct personalities, their sleepwear remains consistently pristine and radiant, adding to the overall atmosphere of serene comfort.

Liliana's opulent home serves as the perfect backdrop for our tale. Her expansive living room houses plush sofas and armchairs draped in velvet fabric, inviting the women to lounge and converse freely without fear of judgment or discomfort. Soft ambient lighting casts gentle shadows throughout the space, enhancing the intimate and relaxed environment. This sanctuary provides the ideal location for hours of laughter, deep conversations, and cherished memories made between the best of friends.

The essence of my artwork revolves around the intimate setting of Liliana's mansion, where the five friends often gather. In this particular scene, they lounge comfortably in their short sleepwear dresses, a tradition they uphold within the confines of Liliana's home. What strikes me as captivating is the uniformity of their sleep attire—simple yet elegant white garments that cling delicately to their forms. It's a subtle contrast to their vibrant personalities, symbolising unity amidst diversity.

Each dress, though identical in style, subtly reflects the individuality of its wearer. Sandra's exudes a sense of effortless grace, while Liliana's, with its daring backless design, hints at a playful sensuality. Evelyn's dress, adorned with delicate lace, speaks of her romantic nature, while Ella's showcases her free-spirited charm. Penny's, though understated, exudes an air of quiet confidence, reflecting her introspective demeanour. The white garments serve as a canvas for each girl to express her unique personality and style, creating a harmonious yet diverse group dynamic.

Today, my muse is none other than Penny Petalwind, a cherished character who is a friend of Arlon and Liliana, from my vast collection of original creations. As I lose myself in the process of creating, I can't help but marvel at the power of imagination and the joy it brings to my life.

Penny, with her delicate features and gentle demeanour, has always held a special place in my heart. Her flowing chestnut locks and ethereal presence make her the perfect subject for my latest endeavour. As I begin sketching her likeness onto the digital canvas, I can't help but smile at the thought of bringing her to life once more. In particular, one painting stood out to me as the ideal foundation upon which to build my vision: a rare and now lost version of "La Belle Liseuse" or "The Beautiful Reader" which features a black-haired girl. It is lost because I found it once on the internet and it's gone once it's auctioned, but saved a copy of it. In this painting, the girl is dressed similarly to how Liliana is dressed in my artwork, engrossed in her reading amidst a picturesque landscape.

There are many parallels between Comerre's work and my interpretation of Liliana's story. Both feature intelligent women immersed in their thoughts and studies, using literature as a means of exploring new perspectives and expanding their minds. Additionally, the idyllic settings provide an opportunity to highlight the connection between humanity and nature, reminding viewers that even in our most intellectual pursuits, we remain inherently linked to the world around us. The beauty of these natural landscapes serves as a constant source of inspiration and reflection.

However, despite these similarities, I knew that I wanted to add my unique touch to the piece. Thus, I chose to incorporate elements specific to Liliana's character, such as the white flower tucked into her hair, symbolizing purity and innocence. Furthermore, rather than having her seated or reclining as seen in Comerre's painting, I opted to depict Liliana standing, signifying her active engagement with both her environment and the knowledge she seeks. This choice conveys a sense of determination and strength in her character.

With all of these components combined, I am confident that I have created something truly special. Not only does this digital artwork pay homage to one of my favourite artists, but it also brings to life a cherished character who embodies qualities that I hold dear. A delightful scene featuring a girl in a white and yellow-striped swimsuit, clutching a delicious ice popsicle.

As I began sketching, I couldn't help but feel the excitement bubbling within me. Even though it's only springtime, I found myself yearning for the warmth of June, eager to bring this summery scene to life on my screen.

But this week holds a special significance for me. It's the Christian memorial week, commemorating the Lord's death and resurrection. In the virtual realm of my creative sanctuary, I embarked on another journey with my beloved characters – Sandra, Liliana, Evelyn, Ella, Penny, and their only boy, Arlon. Together, they formed the formidable gang known as "ASLEEP," their bond unbreakable, their adventures boundless. Unlike previous artworks that focused solely on the girls, this time, I decided to include Arlon, Liliana's younger sweetheart, in the scene. It felt like the natural progression of their story, a nod to the evolving dynamics within the group.

As my digital canvas unfolded before me, I envisioned the gang in a lush, picturesque flowery garden, a sanctuary of serenity and beauty. Morisawa Yū (森沢優 Morisawa Yū) is the main protagonist of Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel. She is a ten-year-old girl with the ability to transform into Creamy Mami (クリィミーマミ Kurīmī Mami), a 16 year-old version of herself.

Yū has short, straight blue hair and dark eyes. She wears a red t-shirt under a white hooded vest with a yellow hood and a red ribbon, and a yellow skirt. She wears yellow knee-high socks, though one is folded to about halfway up her calf and the other is held up with a red ribbon that matches her red ballet flat shoes.

Mami is taller than Yū and has light purple, shoulder-length wavy hair. Mami wears blue eyeshadow and light pink lipstick. Her most common outfit is a yellow dress with a body-conforming bodice and a light yellow tu-tu-esque skirt, with short flowy cuff sleeves and a yellow and red choker. She also sports knee high yellow socks with similar cuffs along the top, and red high heels.

Using the star wand to give her the power to sing well, she becomes an overnight sensation in Japan when she fills in for Megumi Ayase at a poolside show.

The prospect of bringing my favourite characters to life on the canvas filled me with a sense of purpose and excitement.

My latest endeavour in fan art is a tribute to the beloved anime "Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch." This enchanting series holds a special place in my heart, and I couldn't resist the urge to pay homage to its captivating characters. In particular, I chose to depict Hanon, one of the anime's main protagonists, in her dazzling celebrity form. With her signature blue colour motif and graceful demeanour, she embodies the essence of elegance and charm.

As I delved into the creation process, I adopted a hybrid approach, combining traditional and digital techniques to bring Hanon to life on the canvas. For the intricate details of her body, I opted for the tactile experience of pen and paper, relishing the sensation of the nib gliding across the surface of my sketchpad. She is a mermaid princess who, along with her friends, transforms into a human to protect the sea and maintain peace between the ocean and the land. Hanon is known for her cheerful and outgoing personality, as well as her talent for singing and performing. In her human form, she often adopts the persona of a popular celebrity, captivating audiences with her charm and grace.

Hanon, a princess, escapes her kingdom from water demons. She meets Lucia and Rina, and later adores their music teacher Tarō Mitsuki. Hanon learns about Tarō's past affair with Sara and becomes heartbroken when he accepts her invitation to live in Gaito's castle. Despite their efforts, they fail to rescue Tarō. After freeing Coco and Noel, Hanon witnesses Sara and Tarō's love alive and decides to let Taro go.

Hanon, a kind and friendly mermaid, initially believed it was wrong to love humans but quickly changed her mind after falling in love with Tarō Mitsuki. She has a playful nature and is hot-headed, bitter, and stubborn when overcome by love. Hanon struggles with setting her priorities, often dropping everything for her lover, causing strain among her friends. Despite this, she keeps promises and is knowledgeable about love.

She helps her best friends develop strong relationships with their lovers and has a passion for fashion and make-up. Hanon also struggles with her relationships, but with the help of her friends and a letter from her first lover, she eventually seals her relationship with her second lover. Hanon has incredible resilience when protecting what she loves most, such as stepping in to prevent Sara from hurting Tarou and giving up her relationship with Tarou briefly.

Hanon, a mermaid princess, has brown eyes in her human form and aqua-blue eyes in her mermaid form. Her hair is shorter and darker, and she wears a Pearl Tear around her neck containing her Aquamarine Pearl. Hanon stands 153cm tall and is the second shortest mermaid princess after Seira. In her mermaid form, she has long, wavy blue hair with two stars in her bangs, an aquamarine clam-shell bra, a bracelet around her upper left arm, double navy blue pearl bracelets on her tail, a shell locket containing her pearl around her neck, and star earrings.

Hanon transforms into her Idol Form, Mizuiro (Aqua) Pearl Voice, to defeat enemies with her songs. Her idol form consists of a short light blue strapless dress, gloves, boots, pearl bracelets, star barrettes, earrings, and a shell necklace. Hanon and Lucia receive new outfits from Aqua Regina, making them even more elaborate. Hanon's second transformation is more powerful than the first, enabling her to defeat the Black Beauty Sisters with her new songs.

This time, it's all about "ASLEEP," the gang I've envisioned with five fierce female members: Liliana, Penny, Evelyn, Ella, and Sandra. Oh, and let's remember the only boy among them, Arlon. The gang's dynamic is as diverse as their personalities, and I'm excited to bring them to life again. Together, they form a tight-knit group that navigates through various adventures and challenges in the world I've created for them.

In this particular artwork, the girls are dressed in strapless short rompers, a quintessential summer ensemble that's practically a uniform in my hometown during the summer months. Each romper boasts a unique design, yet they all share a common theme of simplicity, allowing the individuality of each character to shine through. The girls' outfits reflect their personalities and preferences, adding depth to their characters beyond just their appearances. This attention to detail in their attire enhances the storytelling aspect of the artwork, giving viewers a glimpse into who these characters are beyond the surface.
