As I sit down at my desk, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and creativity coursing through my veins. Once again, I am embarking on a new digital art project – this time featuring Arlon's five fabulous female friends: Sandra, Liliana, Evelyn, Ella, and Penny. Together, they form a dynamic group known as ASLEEP, with each letter representing one of the ladies, and “A” standing for Arlon himself. Their unique personalities and styles will be captured in this project, showcasing the bond and camaraderie they share.

Unfortunately, my beloved Android tablet is currently out of commission, undergoing some necessary repairs at the local tech "hospital". It seems that the LCD screen has seen better days and will need to be replaced entirely. But even though my go-to tool for creating digital masterpieces is temporarily unavailable, I refuse to let that dampen my spirits or halt my creative process. Instead, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and break out an old-school method of creation: pencil, pen and paper. With a fresh sheet of sketch paper, an inking fine liner pen and a sharpened pencil in hand, I begin to bring my vision to life.

I plan to create a playful illustration showcasing these fantastic five girls in their element, lounging around Liliana's luxurious mansion during a cosy slumber party. Each character dons her unique sense of style in their casual attire, yet there's something that ties them together beyond friendship – their shared love for elegant and comfortable sleepwear. Their chosen nighttime uniform? An exquisite collection of short, silk, white, spaghetti-strap nightwear, delicately designed to hug their bodies and make them feel like royalty as they drift off into dreamland.

As I draw, my mind fills with vivid details about the setting and characters within the scene. My trusty sketchbook becomes a window into the world where Sandra, Liliana, Evelyn, Ella, and Penny gather for a fun-filled evening. In anticipation of settling into bed together, the quintet wears their matching white, silk slip dresses, revealing just enough skin to tantalize both themselves and any potential observers. While their everyday clothing boasts vibrant colours reflective of their distinct personalities, their sleepwear remains consistently pristine and radiant, adding to the overall atmosphere of serene comfort.

Lily had a little lad, A quirky lad was he, And everywhere that Lily went, He followed faithfully. He tagged along to school one day, Though it caused quite a stir, For Arly's ways were odd, they'd say, Her love for him did blur.

The kids then frowned and shooed him out, But Arly stayed close by, He waited there without a doubt, Till Lily caught his eye. And then he dashed to her, his pace Quickened by his charm, As if to say, "In your embrace, I'm safe from all alarm."

"What makes Arly love Lily so?" The curious kids inquired. "Oh, Lily loves him, don't you know?" The teacher's tone inspired. "For every gentle soul you see, With love you'll surely find, And they'll stick close, just wait and see, If you are always kind."

As I sit down again in front of my trusty digital canvas, the familiar thrill of creation surges through me. There's something about bringing characters to life that never fails to invigorate my soul. Today, my muses are none other than my beloved original characters, Arlon and Liliana. They've been constant companions in my artistic journey, embodying the very essence of my ideal romantic love. My admiration for academic art runs deep, and there are few artists whose works resonate with me more profoundly than those of Leon Francois Comerre. His paintings capture the very essence of what makes art such a powerful medium – the ability to evoke emotion, inspire contemplation, and transport us to different worlds. With each brushstroke, he demonstrates a masterful understanding of light, shadow, and form, creating images that are both visually stunning and deeply meaningful. Comerre's attention to detail and dedication to his craft are evident in every piece, showcasing a level of skill and artistry that is truly remarkable.

It is no wonder then, that when seeking inspiration for my artwork featuring Liliana, I turned to Comerre's oeuvre. In particular, one painting stood out to me as the ideal foundation upon which to build my vision: a rare and now lost version of "La Belle Liseuse" or "The Beautiful Reader" which features a black-haired girl. It is lost because I found it once on the internet and it's gone once it's auctioned, but saved a copy of it. In this painting, the girl is dressed similarly to how Liliana is dressed in my artwork, engrossed in her reading amidst a picturesque landscape.

There are many parallels between Comerre's work and my interpretation of Liliana's story. Both feature intelligent women immersed in their thoughts and studies, using literature as a means of exploring new perspectives and expanding their minds. Additionally, the idyllic settings provide an opportunity to highlight the connection between humanity and nature, reminding viewers that even in our most intellectual pursuits, we remain inherently linked to the world around us. The beauty of these natural landscapes serves as a constant source of inspiration and reflection.

However, despite these similarities, I knew that I wanted to add my unique touch to the piece. Thus, I chose to incorporate elements specific to Liliana's character, such as the white flower tucked into her hair, symbolizing purity and innocence. Furthermore, rather than having her seated or reclining as seen in Comerre's painting, I opted to depict Liliana standing, signifying her active engagement with both her environment and the knowledge she seeks. This choice conveys a sense of determination and strength in her character.

With all of these components combined, I am confident that I have created something truly special. Not only does this digital artwork pay homage to one of my favourite artists, but it also brings to life a cherished character who embodies qualities that I hold dear. Through careful attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to artistic expression, I hope that others may find joy and inspiration in viewing this tribute to Liliana and the boundless potential of human curiosity. As someone on the spectrum myself, I wanted to create something that resonates with the theme of acceptance and understanding. And what better way to do that than through my beloved original characters? I want to use my art to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of neurodiversity, spreading a message of acceptance and inclusion. Through my creations, I aim to inspire others to embrace differences and celebrate the spectrum of human experiences.

In this new artwork, I decided to feature Arlon, an original character close to my heart, enjoying a carefree moment with his two friends, Liliana and Penny, in a vibrant playground scene. The image captures them in motion, running with pure joy radiating from their faces. Arlon, sporting his usual attire of a simple white shirt and khaki shorts paired with comfy grey slippers, embodies the innocence and enthusiasm of childlikeness. As they play together, their unique personalities are highlighted, showcasing the beauty of friendship without boundaries. The colourful background of the playground symbolises the endless possibilities that exist when we come together with open hearts and minds.

Liliana, Arlon's dear friend, exudes elegance even in her playful white romper, her white slippers mirroring the purity of her soul. And then there's Penny, the spirited companion clutching a volleyball, her pink ensemble reflecting her vibrant personality. Together, they form a bond with Evelyn, Sandra, and Ella (unseen in the artwork) not just by friendship but by an unspoken understanding that transcends the barriers of neurodiversity. Ironically, it also serves as the theme song for the latest Tom and Jerry movie, a testament to the universality of its message. It reminds us that friendship transcends language and cultural barriers. It is a reminder that the bond between friends is universal and timeless, just like the classic cartoon characters Tom and Jerry.

In the lyrics of the song, there's a simple yet profound truth – that in times of need, we can always count on our friends to be there for us, just as we would be for them. It's a sentiment that rings especially true for Arlon, Liliana, and their friends as they navigate the complexities of friendship in a world that often misunderstands them. As they face challenges and obstacles, their friendship remains unwavering, proving that true friends will always stand by each other no matter what. Today, on the first day of April, I sat down at my digital canvas once again, ready to embark on another artistic adventure. This time, I decided to take part in a 5-year old draw-this-in-your-style challenge hosted by Vittysartbox . The prompt? A delightful scene featuring a girl in a white and yellow-striped swimsuit, clutching a delicious ice popsicle.

As I began sketching, I couldn't help but feel the excitement bubbling within me. Even though it's only springtime, I found myself yearning for the warmth of June, eager to bring this summery scene to life on my screen.

This week, following the Memorial of the Death of our Lord, I found myself compelled to embark on a new artistic venture.

Engaging in a draw-this-in-your-style challenge with a Christian theme hosted by Polita_draws , I was inspired by their depiction of Jesus carrying a little girl on His back. However, rather than adhering strictly to the reference artwork, I felt a calling to infuse historical accuracy into my rendition.

Drawing upon inspiration from Akiane's painting and delving into historical accounts, I depicted Jesus with short hair, resonating with the authentic portrayal of the era. Both Jesus and the little girl bore black hair, brown eyes, and a warm brown complexion, reflecting the diversity of humanity embraced by our Lord.

Naming this creation "The Greatest in His Kingdom," I was reminded of Jesus' profound words, as recorded in the Bible, in Matthew 18:4: "Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

In capturing this moment, I sought to encapsulate the essence of humility, innocence, and the unwavering love of our Saviour, as He embraces all who come to Him with childlike faith.

Unlike previous artworks that focused solely on the girls, this time, I decided to include Arlon, Liliana's younger sweetheart, in the scene. Morisawa Yū (森沢優 Morisawa Yū) is the main protagonist of Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel. She is a ten-year-old girl with the ability to transform into Creamy Mami (クリィミーマミ Kurīmī Mami), a 16 year-old version of herself.

Yū has short, straight blue hair and dark eyes. She wears a red t-shirt under a white hooded vest with a yellow hood and a red ribbon, and a yellow skirt. She wears yellow knee-high socks, though one is folded to about halfway up her calf and the other is held up with a red ribbon that matches her red ballet flat shoes.

Mami is taller than Yū and has light purple, shoulder-length wavy hair. Mami wears blue eyeshadow and light pink lipstick. Her most common outfit is a yellow dress with a body-conforming bodice and a light yellow tu-tu-esque skirt, with short flowy cuff sleeves and a yellow and red choker. She also sports knee high yellow socks with similar cuffs along the top, and red high heels.

Using the star wand to give her the power to sing well, she becomes an overnight sensation in Japan when she fills in for Megumi Ayase at a poolside show.
