The Benefits of Pursuing a Certified Fitness Trainer Course in India
Introduction
Many seasoned and knowledgeable trainers may question the value of obtaining fitness trainer course india after investing considerable time and effort in the field. Here, we explore the significance of becoming a certified personal trainer and emphasize that certified fitness trainer course certification is achievable at any stage of one's career.
In India, numerous small-scale fitness facilities are still relying on trainers without proper certified gym trainer course certification. While these trainers may have gained practical insights that gym trainer certification courses initially covered theoretically, their lack of an authentic qualification hinders significant success in the personal training field. Additionally, adhering to guidelines, it is imperative to be a certified personal trainer before guiding clients, as experimenting with the health and fitness of others without expertise is not acceptable. The necessity of a certified fitness course from reputable fitness academy in india cannot be ignored in light of this requirement.
The initial step into the personal training arena should involve a genuine passion for health and fitness. Setting an example by embodying the lifestyle one aims to promote is crucial. Attempting to apply principles one has not personally embraced is akin to navigating in the dark. Establishing credibility becomes challenging when one does not present oneself as an ideal model for success to potential clients. Therefore, it is advisable to invest time in personal development, acquire more knowledge, and gain experience before pursuing a career in personal training.
Enrolling in a certified gym trainer course offers numerous advantages, with one of the key benefits being the opportunity to glean knowledge from seasoned trainers and industry experts. These professionals provide valuable insights into the latest trends, techniques, and best practices, enabling you to remain current in the ever-evolving field of fitness. Additionally, fitness trainer certification courses establish a structured learning environment that fosters focus and motivation throughout the educational journey.
Another advantage of completing a fitness/ gym trainer certification course from a reputable fitness academy in india lies in the acquisition of practical skills applicable in real-world scenarios. For instance, you may learn the art of crafting personalized workout plans for clients, offering guidance on nutrition, and motivating individuals to achieve their fitness goals. Such skills are indispensable for those aspiring to embark on careers as personal trainers or group fitness instructors.
Furthermore, the completion of a fitness course can result in recognized fitness trainer certifications that significantly enhance your credibility and job prospects. Employers within the fitness industry often seek candidates holding specific certifications like Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) or Certified Fitness Trainer (CFI). Attaining these certified gym trainer course programs not only distinguishes you in a competitive job market but may also contribute to an increased earning potential.

1st and 2nd Feb
Happy February!
1st Feb
Got enrolled with Swami Sukhabodhanand’s 1 week course. I had attended his ‘Life’ program in 1995 in Mumbai. Good to see him on video once again. Went back to the old memories! Started watching the video in the morning after getting up at 5 AM
Father discharged from Sakra hospital today. Almost whole day was in hospital.  In the evening started a new PMP evening batch while Varsha took care of discharge process for Papa. Slept quite late at around 12.30 AM as had sipped some strong tea in the evening.
2nd Feb
Watched the Spiritual Warrior video of Swami Sukhabodhananda after getting up at 5 am in the morning. Then went to the Gym as I has engaged a gym personal trainer from today. Conducted some interviews for new recruits from Amruta college. After that went to play tennis with my neighbour. That was the first time I played singles tennis with anyone. Great experience, though it was too sunny at 10 AM to 11 AM. After lunch performed Yoga Nidra for an hour and then went to impart driving lessons to Animisha. She picked up on her first day on the plain ground were she practiced for an hour. In the evening continued the PMP evening batch. Now writing the diary at 10.45 pm. Ready to sleep with some rituals learned today in the online class.

au: im seeing the pain, seeing the pleasure..
general notes; is anyone even surprised at this point? because I’m not. but have this cute little very incomplete au of how even if one of them loses their memory, they’re still deeply connected.
The first thing Diya hears is the sirens. Her eyes feel glued shut and the last time her body felt this sore was after her trainer had forced her to run a marathon and join a gym (Diya? In the gym? It was a great joke). She opens her mouth to speak, only for the metallic taste of blood to fill her mouth, and her head begins to spin, not unlike a carousel. God, Diya HATES fairground rides. To this day, she has nightmares about the time Veer took her on the Spinning Teacups ride. Veer... Her heart races, the THUDTHUDTHUD in her ears, drowning any other noise out. Her eyes flutter open and she turns her head. Veer... Her chest seems settled, finally allowing her to breathe. Except there's a trail of crimson running down the side of his face. His eyes are shut too and the panic rises up Diya's throat, threatening to choke her. There is a pungent smell wafting around them and Diya blinks, her vision clearing momentarily. They're sitting in the wreckage, fumes emitting from the car. They seem to have her voicebox in a stronghold, as if the fumes have arms and want to choke Diya. The previously clear vision now blurs, and she turns to look at the person next to her. She knows him, but she DOESN'T. What is his name? Who was in this car with her? The panic rises up her throat once more, this time choking her. She shuts her eyes to the sound of sirens, of a man asking her to keep her eyes open but Diya can't. She's WEAK. The last thing Diya hears is an EMT's rushed report: car accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Two persons, female in early twenties - possible head trauma, internal bleeding. Male also in early twenties, but he's currently unresponsive.
Veer should've been more alert, he should've paid better attention. And he should've listened to Diya. She'd been warning him about staying over in Lonavla for another night, or at least until the rain let up. But he knew she had work commitments the next day and needed to get home. It was these thoughts running through his mind when he felt himself lose consciousness, his hands trying to reach her, to make sure she was okay. Moments later, or maybe it had been hours--he didn't know, he found himself waking up in a white room. A chemical smell wafted around him and all he heard were soft murmurs and loud incessant beeping sounds. Where was he? And then all of a sudden, the memory of the crash came back to him. The large pickup truck, the car swerving before hitting a large tree, both of them trapped inside thanks to their seatbelts. DIYA! Where was she? How was she? He struggled to get up but was instantly held back down by a strange woman who said something about being his nurse. A doctor was rushing in, all of them crowding him making him almost anxious because no one was saying anything about her and more than his wellbeing--he needed to make sure she was okay.
Diya squeezed her eyes shut even tighter, the pounding in her head growing more aggravated by the second. It seemed to trigger by almost anything, which was just dandy for Diya. It meant she wouldn't be able to open her eyes, except every inch of her body was tired. Every inch of it ACHED, and if she dulled out the noises of chatter, and the soft beep beep beep she could hear in the background - Diya could fall asleep. She was exhausted too; the last film she'd done had taken a toll on her. She hadn't done anything special, just been the arm candy to a very successful (even if he was older) hero. The dance sequence had been the death of her. It was supposed to release this week; why hadn't her manager called yet? Where was her glam squad? They would have a fit if she didn't get dressed on time, it would throw the entire schedule off its rails. Diya opened her mouth to speak but her throat was dry, something had its clutches on her voice box. Diya struggled against the strongholds, until she felt something pierce into her skin and suddenly everything was so much SOFTER, it was quieter until it faded into nothing. Until Diya faded into nothing.
Veer didn't understand why no one would tell him anything about Diya and why they were all just hovering over him without saying a word. He hated it. He just wanted to see her, hold her hand and tell her things would be alright. Once he caught sight of his mother walking into his ICU room, he sat up straight, ignoring the nurses around him. "Ma! Kuch-- tell me, how's Diya? Woh kahaan hai?" But Pallavi Singhania didn't say anything, her hands cupping her only son's cheeks before sighing loudly. "She's okay Veer, woh bhi issi ward main hai, she's recuperating just like you." But Veer wasn't entirely convinced with that answer and knew there was more but she wasn't saying anything more. "I want to see her Ma, mujhe usse dekhna hai." And yet despite everyone's protests, he was seated in a wheelchair, a bandage around his head, his sides feeling completely sore as he got wheeled to her room, his heart beating out of his chest when he finally saw her laying there on the bed. "Oh god, I'm so sorry Diya. I'm so sorry Diya," he leaned his head on the edge of her bed, trying to control his emotions but it wasn't possible considering this was ALL his fault.
Diya could feel the effects of whatever had pierced into her slowly fade away, and the irritating noise was back in her ears, LOUDER than ever. She strained her ears to block the noise, and yet she wanted to know what it was. Diya cursed her hearing, hating herself for not being a better actor because it wasn't like she could open her eyes. They hurt too much; the lights were too bright for her. It was only when she heard a familiar voice, one which warmed her chest did Diya try to open her eyes. They opened just a crack, and she spotted a tuft of hair. She'd recognize that black mop littered with brown highlights anywhere. It was Veer; her Veer. What was he doing here? Why was he in a wheelchair? What was the white around his head? Only then did Diya tear her eyes away to glance at her surroundings. The incessant beeping was an EKG monitor. She was in the hospital. Her heart raced in her chest and she tried to reach for Veer's hand. "Hey..." Her voice sounded rusty, and completely unlike her.
Veer hadn't been aware that she was awake until he felt her hand against his own. But it was the moment he heard a voice that sounded somewhat like hers where he looked up. He saw the concern in her eyes and shook his head because he was okay, he wasn't as hurt as he looked. Sure his ribs hurt and his head was pounding like the WORST hangover he'd ever had but none of that compared to seeing how she was looking right now. "I'm so sorry," he whispered, his lips pressing against her skin, noting her missing engagement ring that tightened something in his chest. But it must've been taken off when she'd undergone her operation. Veer was only wearing his because he'd asked for it back and his mother had handed it over, smiling as her son slipped it over his finger, not wanting to lose that part of himself. He looked up at her then before shaking his head. "You--kaisi ho? How are you feeling?"
Diya smiled when he reached forward to press a kiss to her forehead. She wondered if Arjun uncle would be mad she'd gotten into an accident. She only assumed that was what happened; especially with Veer's tendency to take the blame on himself. She must have been in the accident with him. At his question, Diya hesitated. She wanted to lie; the look on his face worried her. She was afraid if she spoke the truth, it would break Veer. He looked incredibly FRAGILE in this moment. Instead, she turned to look at the window in her hospital room. "I could definitely go for some pakodas," she murmured, nodding at the rain thrashing against the window as if it had some personal vendetta against the glass. She shut her eyes then, a pounding in her head she couldn't quite explain. It was only when she turned back to look at Veer that she caught the glint on his finger, the flourescent hospital light reflecting against it. Diya squinted then, only to catch an edge of gold against his ring finger. "How long was I out for?" He would have told her right? If he'd gotten engaged... Had Diya lost her memory in the accident? Even as she spoke, the words sounded heavy on her tongue, "Who's the lucky girl?"
Veer hadn't missed her hesitation when he'd asked how she was. Diya always believed that she was a top-class liar or something--but she wasn't. Veer could always tell when she was even attempting some small fib with him. Of course, it was also the same for her considering she'd be able to catch him in a lie without him really even saying anything. But he allowed her this one, even knowing that he'd be telling his mother or her's to get her some pakoda's for later considering how bland hospital food could be. But what Veer hadn't expected was the way she'd asked him about the engagement ring that she had chosen, that she slipped onto his finger. He'd instantly thought perhaps she was teasing, maybe she was feigning ignorance but the way she asked who the girl was--had his heart sinking. "You--tell me something first, what's the last thing you remember?" If she didn't recall their engagement, it was possible she didn't remember their feelings for one another and if that was true--Veer wouldn't tell her. He wouldn't burden her with the truth when he knew she needed time to cope and recover.
Diya furrowed her eyebrows at Veer, her lips drawing downwards into a perfect pout. It was the exact same expression which had made her famous from her first film in itself; it had become Diya's signature expression, one she used in real life more often than not too. Who would have thought Diya Mehra looked the most beautiful when she was upset? Of course, if Diya was asked she would tell you she didn't feel pretty AT ALL. Most days she still felt like that gangly, awkward girl in middle school who was just growing into her lanky limbs, the girl who had broken a boy's (twice her size) nose. Truth was, she felt most like herself when she was with Veer. Yet, there was something different with him too. In the way he was handling her; as if he were managing her with kid gloves. Diya wanted to call him out for it and yet when she opened her mouth, she caught the expression on his face and promptly shut up. "I'd texted you... about that article in PV about Saachi."
Veer couldn't help but smile when he caught her expression, wanting to just embrace her tightly, reminding her once more of the love he had for her. But he couldn't, not when it was obvious she didn't remember anything of their past. Except right now, he couldn't stop staring at her. She was looking so vulnerable almost that it made him ache. He hated that she was looking at him like this as if there was a part of him she didn't recognize. It didn't sit right with him. But when he looked up at her, he nodded, trying to recollect what time frame that was and when it clicked--he almost fell off his chair. She was all the way back to when he and she had been signed in Arjun Singhania's comeback film, also known as Veer's entry vehicle into commercial cinema. But that was years back, well it certainly felt like years to him when really it had been about a year and some months back. He only nodded again, before looking up at her, unsure of if he should be telling her all this before he decided no one had warned him against it--so he'd say it. "That was about 14 months ago D," he whispered, looking down at his engagement ring, wondering if she was going to go back to who she'd been back then--thinking that it came from Saachi, which was a thought even he couldn't fathom.
Diya flinched at his words, looking up at him. Her eyes were wide, eyebrows raised and Diya's heart hammered in her chest before making the leap to her throat. She wanted to ask-- except wherecould she even begin? "I lost 14 months of my life..." The words were soft, as if she were trying to come to terms with it herself. "I lost fourteen months of my life..." She repeated the words, wondering if she repeated it enough times it would start to make sense. How could she just wake up, with NO recollection of the past fourteen months of her life? How could she have woken up and the last fourteen months of her life were erased, as if they'd never existed in the first place? Her head began to throb and Diya placed it in her hands, hoping something, anything would make moresense when she lifted it again. SPOILER ALERT: it didn't. "So..." Diya swallowed, the thought feeling like a bitter pill - one which cut the edges of her heart, her throat. "Is it Saachi?" Even thinkingit sent a piercing pain through Diya's heart, the feelings of insecurity, of inadequacy rising up her throat.
Veer hated that he'd told her. Maybe this had all been a bad idea. Maybe he should've let Falak Ma tell her, or maybe he should've let the doctor say something. Now he just felt like he'd completely ruined everything. But he didn't say anything, wanting to let her come to terms with it in whichever way was easiest for her. He continued staring at her, holding onto her hand, knowing that it would feel like that, but in reality, she hadn't lost anything. She had spent these last few months especially, SO happy. Only that happiness was gone from her mind now, a happiness that lived on only in his mind now. But he glanced at her once more, not missing how she'd tugged her hands away and covered her head with them. He hated that he couldn't help her, he hated that he was the reason she was hurting so much. He glanced at her, before looking up when she spoke, absolutely surprised that she was still thinking about Saachi at a time like this. Veer didn't know if he should say yes, and let her completely break down, perhaps that could trigger her memory to come back once more? Or he should say no, make up some excuse and see how she'd react. "It's not--of course it's--this is just a prop Diya," he managed a faux smile before sighing. "I forgot to take it off when I got offset and yeah..you really liked it." He murmured, wishing he'd have been able to control that truth from falling out of his mouth.
Diya paused, words buried in her mouth. Who did he think he was trying to fool? "The only time I've heard a worse lie was when you told Pallavi aunty you fell and hit your neck after your date with Khushi." There was malice in her tone; she would always hold it against Veer for dating her friend. Yet, Diya still wasn't sure why she was so angry. She didn't care about who Khushi dated; she didn't care what she did with her life. She'd always thought Veer was better than that. She'd always believed he deserved better than Khushi Patel, daughter of Gujarati moneylender. She stared down at her hands, wondering if he was lying to protect her feelings. Except, HOW would Veer even know of her feelings? How could he, when Diya herself couldn't explain them? Diya raised an eyebrow at her own left hand then, a hint of a tan line on her own ring finger. She traced it, wondering why her heart ached at the touch. She wondered of its significance; she wondered why her chest constricted at the mere THOUGHT of Veer being with somebody else. He was hers. At least she thought he had been.
Veer grimaced at her words before shrugging, unsure of how he could tell her...especially when she was so fragile right now. But this was Diya, there was no way that he could lie to her, especially when she was the only person who knew everything about him. He managed a small laugh when he remembered that stupid lie he'd told, one that made no sense but had still watched his mother buy it, while Arjun Singhania had only looked at him with a knowing smile. Veer still looked at Diya though, watching the way she was rubbing at her own finger, almost as if she was missing the ring he'd bought with her before slipping it over her finger, remembering that GORGEOUS smile that he'd seen on her face that day. That smile that told him, she was all his...something he couldn't say right now, at least not in the same way as before. He looked up at her once more, holding onto her hands before sighing. "Aur tune mujhe jo jhoot bola woh? Not talking about how much you're hurting.." he sighed before pressing the help button, wanting a nurse to help her, needing to see her eyes void of the pain she was housing in them.
Diya opened her mouth to protest when the nurses came flooding in, ready to fuss over Diya. They were obstructing her view of Veer and she knew this was his way of getting out of answering her question. "Veer this--" She tried to lean over the nurses to catch his gaze. "You're cheating!" Except her words were buried under the nurse chatter while they poked and prodded at her. Diya sighed, slouching back into the bed as she fielded different questions from the nurses. She didn't know why with each word she spoke, the lines on nurses' foreheads only grew deeper. Diya didn't know what was happening but she wanted Veer; she wanted to know why he was so upset; she wanted to know who he was seeing. She wanted to know what the tan line on her own finger was; she wanted FOURTEEN MONTHS of her life back.
Veer hated the tactic he'd used but of course considering it was the only way for him to get out of answering Diya's question, he had to. He couldn't tell her the truth. He couldn't tell her that theywere engaged. Especially when she probably didn't hold that same love for him right now, not when she didn't remember the last fourteen months. But he only neared her once more when the nurses left the room, but not after they all told him that he needed to return back to his own room soon too. Veer only nodded before coming back to Diya, his hand grasping hers once more before the courage of their love, and their dedication and loyalty towards each other took over. "You really want to know?" He murmured before looking down at his ring, wishing somehow he could try to just help her remember the truth. But that's when he looked back up to her, locking gazes until he had to look away once more, worried about the impending rejection he was about to get the moment he confessed. Because, what if she thought the engagement was something arranged by their parents? And refused? What would Veer do then? Let her go...because he loved her too much to force her into anything.
Diya wondered what was so SCARY about telling her the truth, he needed to ask her again. She obviously wanted to know, and being kept in the dark like this was only irking her. It was annoyingher to no end. She wanted to know who Veer was engaged to; she wanted to know why her heart ached at the thought of him seeing anybody else. The last time she remembered him dating somebody (or rather telling her he was seeing somebody) had been Khushi. Her stomach churned at the thought, and she'd wanted to punch a hole through the wall. Diya had spent the entire day curled up in her bedroom, tossing the heart shaped pillow had gotten her for one of her birthdays UP then down, UP then down. Besides making Diya nauseous the activity had done little to alleviate the pain in her chest. She clutched at his hand tightly, afraid of what would fall from his lips. "Tell me."
Veer took a deep breath, not at all missing the look in her eyes that was bordering along annoyance now rather than just sheer confusion. Plus, she was right--she deserved to know. He looked down at their hands once more, finding the action more comforting than anything else before he nodded, giving her another smile. Of course, he wished once more that he wasn't in a wheelchair with that stupid bandage around his head, making it probably seem like he was suffering from some head injury and was about to tell her a complete lie. Also, he wished he had her engagement ring in his hand so that he could show it to her, watch as it slipped into place on her finger but he had none of that. All he had, was the truth and that was what he could tell her. "It's you," he whispered, now avoiding her eyes, almost terrified that she'd laugh in his face because the place she was at right now--she wouldn't believe they could ever be engaged.
Diya blinked at him; she would have sputtered, except this wasn't one of her films. Still, there was a gentle flutter in her chest which told her he was telling the truth. The way their hands looked intertwined which reassured her, this was how it was ALWAYS meant to be. The constriction in her chest reminding her the real reason she claimed Veer as hers was because of the opposite: she was his. She had always been, since that first day on the sets of their parents film. Diya had always, and would always belong to Veer Singhania. Yet there was something in her chest, something that was afraid. It beat against her ribs, wanting OUT. It didn't want to be tied down. Despite those instincts, Diya took a deep breath. "Did Pallavi aunty give you the ring Arjun uncle gave her when he had proposed?" As a child she had always been incredibly jealous of Veer's parents, of his perfect family in comparison to her broken one. She had coveted both the ring and the lovestory Pallavi Singhania had, remembering a conversation before she'd gone to college about wanting the ring. Of course, then Diya had never realized wanting Pallavi's ring would mean she wanted to marry Veer.
Veer had gently pulled his hands away from hers when he'd caught the look in her eyes, the one that told him she wasn't ready to entirely believe this. He understood it, because well--why should she believe anything he told her? Especially when it was likely she had perhaps not wanted this back then, the timeframe she was currently stuck in. Or maybe in their present as well, she'd been only going along with it, because it felt like the right thing to do. He heard her mention his mother's ring and nodded. Because that had been the ring she'd ended up wearing. Although, he'd still taken her to Tanishq, and even to Harry Winston shops in London to find the perfect ring. But Diya's childhood dreams had revolved around his mother's engagement ring and so he'd gotten it polished and resized and finally given to her. But now he was wondering if perhaps he shouldn't have said anything and if he had--maybe he should've let their parents be in the room. No, if they were around--she might feel compelled to agree to it once more..this way she didn't have to. "I can--we can call it off," he whispered, hating the words that were falling from his mouth as he twisted the ring she'd given him, trying to get it off. "I don't want you to--it's not, we don't need to go through with anything," he finally managed to pull hard enough to let it slip off his finger, ignoring the pain shooting through him at the loss of her.
Diya flinched when she heard the ring clatter to the ground. It sounded a lot like what she imagined a heart break to sound. Diya wished she wasn't on this bed, she wished she could grab his hands, to stop him. How could she tell him she wanted to TRY? He didn't seem like he would believe her; in fact, he seemed hellbent on believing she would never want to marry him. Do you? The question her conscience posed, made Diya freeze. Did she? She shut her eyes then, searching her memories, searching her heart. She remembered the way his lips had felt against hers that night in the bar in London. She'd remembered how for that split second her fingers had been tangled in his hair, his hand on her waist (hesitant) - her heart felt COMPLETE. She'd never felt like that ever again; never felt as if there was a missing puzzle piece in her heart only Veer could complete. Yes, yes she did. "I want to try." The words rang in the room and Diya's gaze flitted from her own tan line, to Veer's ring that lay on the floor. The doctor too had said to try living her life the way it had been before the accident. Maybe this way she would know for real if the conflicted feelings in her chest really did spell love.
Veer was thankful for his fitness regime that made it easy to bend over to grab the ring off the floor; keep it somewhere safe, reminding him of what the last few months had been like for him. Of course, his ribs weren't happy with his physical exertion, causing more shooting pain through his center and chest. But he ignored it, making a fist around the ring as he looked up at her, about to tell that she didn't have to say anything more and he'd back later. Except that's when he heard her words and found himself frowning. He wanted to ask her why, especially when he was sure she didn't recall the moments that had brought them to this phase in their life. But he stayed quiet, a small frown on his forehead as he continued staring at her. "Are you--are you sure?" He murmured, looking back down at the gold ring in his hand, wondering why he felt like she was STILL making some compromise? Was that what she'd done all their life? Make a compromise because perhaps in some ways, she pitied him? And why wouldn't she when he was such a bechara in the first place? But Veer couldn't dwell on those thoughts right now, he just couldn't go down that route when it would only take him to more self-doubt.
Diya reached for his hand then, enclosing her own around his fist. "As sure as the time I had bacterial meningitis and EVERYBODY thought I was going to die." That hadn't been a pleasant memory; she'd rememebered the way her mother had cried. Hours, and hours on end before Pallavi Singhania had led Falak Mehra out the room, saying in hushed whispers how she couldn't scare her teenage daughter like that. Nobody had thought she would make it through the night, not with the high fever she'd been running. Diya to this day, remembered how she'd asked Veer to tell Arushi ma'am she wouldn't be able to submit the homework as a joke, trying to get him to lighten up. Instead, he only looked up at her with those sad puppy eyes (coincidentally the same ones he was pulling right now) and Diya had apologized. She had been sixteen; she just wanted everybody around her to stop crying.
Veer despised the fact that she'd mentioned that. He had regarded that time as the most scared he'd been to lose his best friend. The second time had been when she'd first gone to London, and the third--well he was living through it RIGHT now. But thinking back to that time, he'd been so petrified at what was happening, because almost no one would tell him anything, they'd all just be crying or talking in these hushed tones as if Veer was some baby who couldn't handle the truth. When Diya had been the one to tell him the reality of what was happening though--he'd hated her for TWO seconds, before he realized what all of it meant. When she'd made her stupid jokes, he'd only stared at her, wishing she would stop making light of every situation they were in. But right now, he just was still trying to wrap his head around what she'd said. "You really..want to try? To see what it's like?" He frowned before wrinkling his nose, "I mean--we don't have to change anything from what you remember. I just want you to--to feel better,"
Diya shook her head. "I don't care. I want things they were before this... before the hospital." She wanted to see what it was to live a life where somebody besides her mother LOVED her. She wanted to know what it would feel like to have somebody love her and then not leave. It would be interesting. Except, what if Veer left her? It seemed to be the pattern in her life; just because he hadn't left yet; just because they were engaged didn't mean he couldn't grow sick of her. The mere thought of it made her nauseous, it sent her heart sinking to her stomach unsettling the rest of the organs in her body. "Now can you PLEASE stop acting like I'm going to die?" It was nowhere near as bad as the time she had meningitis though. One minute she'd been fine; the doctors had called it just some monsoon viral and the next, she had collapsed in the middle of the hallway on the way to Pre Calculus. She remembered waking up in a hospital room, not unlike this one, multiple wires attached to her as some doctor spoke in medical terminology to her mother and by default, Diya. It had seemed okay too then, especially since the fever had dipped. It seemed as if she would have been allowed to go home but that night her fever had spiked - spiked beyond normal levels, sending everybody in a tizzy. The only part of her life Diya did not want to relive.
Veer didn't think she knew what she was asking from him. He couldn't go back to the way things were before the accident. He couldn't randomly go up to her and kiss her, and just hold her, she'd feel unfamiliar despite their friendship and it would change things. Right now, at least--he could hold onto his best friend even if he didn't have the woman he loved with him. But this was Diya and Veer could NEVER refuse her of anything. It was why there had been so many times, he'd get phone calls from her when they were in high school, nearly at around 3am, where she'd be studying and have a sudden craving for ice cream. And who else would take her but Veer? It didn't matter if he had a midterm the next morning because this was something she wanted and she'd asked himfor it. He looked up at her and nodded then, managing a smile before leaning in to kiss her forehead once more, ignoring the pain in his abdomen area. "Just--can you not talk about dying anymore? I already thought--during the accident that we were both gone." Veer was about to say more when he caught Falak Mehra entering the room, and instantly his mind told him to ask for the ring, just so he could see it shimmering on her finger once more, but he couldn't--not wanting to seem too eager.
Diya looked up when her mother entered the room, having caught Veer hovering over Diya. The woman (understandably) kicked into overdrive. "Oh thank god. Doctors keh rahe the ki you had some amnesia, that you wouldn't remember people or things but dekho, tum aur Veer abhi bhi..." Diya cleared her throat, not wanting to lie to her mother but she looked so HAPPY. Diya couldn't break the woman's heart. Not like this. So instead, she mustered a smile and nodded. "Itni zor se nahin mumma, I still have a headache." Her mother gave a sheepish smile, taking Diya's other hand and so she posed the question, "Can I have-- my engagement ring back? Haath uske bina, khali khali sa lag raha hai...." This, SURPRISINGLY wasn't a lie. Her hand did feel as if it were missing something, the tan line taunting her in ways she'd never expected it to. As if it were foreshadowing her future, telling her that Veer too would leave her like everybody else had. It was what she DESERVED.
Veer opened his mouth to tell Falak Ma that things weren't back to normal but before he could, he heard Diya interject for her mother to not talk so loudly. He gave her a questioning glance because while he agreed with perhaps the older woman's volume was louder, she was just thankful that her only daughter was alright. But letting her believe that Diya was happily engaged to Veer once more, that wasn't entirely fair. Except when he heard her question, falling along the same lines as his own, he found himself looking back up at her, because well--was she telling the truth? Or was it just to make her mother feel more at ease? But instead of Falak handing it to Diya, she tapped Veer's shoulder and held it out for him to take. Veer's mouth was dry because the last time he slipped it over her finger had been STARKLY different, but now, it was like he was putting a ring on her just to bring normalcy back, not because they were wanting to be joined in this way.
Diya looked at Veer as he held the ring in his hands, her heart caught in her throat. She wondered what it had been like when he'd proposed for REAL. She wanted to ask him why he'd proposed; why he'd decided he didn't want to spend the rest of his life with anybody but her. She wanted to know so many things, but most importantly she wanted to know why he'd chosen HER. For as long as she'd known Veer Singhania, there hadn't been a shortage of female admirers; that was the line she hadn't bothered with. Unfortunately, the longer the line of his admirers grew, so did the line of the boys who hated him. Diya had kept that secret close to her chest, not wanting to tell Veer what she'd done. When they'd entered high school, or maybe it was in tenth grade... Veer had told her he didn't want her fighting his battles anymore. Naturally, she'd put up a fight but as she used to back then - she'd ceded. Diya had never told Veer how much it had stung; how it felt like he was saying he didn't NEED her anymore. That had been the first nail in her coffin. So she continued to intimidate all the boys who didn't like him behind Veer's back - although this time her tactic was a little different. By the time she'd started dating Karan towards the end of junior year - Diya had forgotten HOW MANY boys she'd kissed. She knew the rumours they would spread behind her back, but she didn't care. Not if it meant Veer would be okay. "Come on," she whispered, giving him a small smile, "don't keep a girl waiting all day."
Veer continued staring at Diya's ring in between his fingers once more, wanting nothing more than to slip it over her finger, claiming her once more as HIS. But something felt off about this moment. Because he knew she didn't want it anymore. Back then, Diya had been the one flapping her hand in his face, basically telling him that if he didn't slip the ring on his finger, she was going to find someone else more willing. An empty threat, but he'd still gone ahead and done it quickly, loving the way her arms had snaked around his neck as she pulled him close, ignoring anyone around them. But now, it was different. Still, he heard her soft prodding and picked up her left hand before holding it in his own. The ring was held between his thumb and forefinger as he held it closer before slipping it over her finger, listening to Falak clapping once more as if they'd gotten re engaged. He gave her another small smile before wheeling away slightly so that Diya didn't feel flustered because while she'd keep that smile on her face and pretend to her mother like everything was normal--he knew otherwise.
Diya poked her head out of the car, having rolled down the windows as the vehicle pulled into a parking space on the third floor. She turned to look at Veer, eyebrows furrowed. "This isn't Ma'splace..." Had she moved out? Had HE moved out? Did they live together now? Her heart began racing, panic rising up her throat and instead focused on something else. She focused on the ring on her hand, stared at the round diamond cut. Her first memory of the ring had been when she had been sitting with Pallavi Singhania, having volunteered to help her declutter her jewelry. Of course, most of the decluttering meant Diya ended up hoarding the items for herself. She had come across the ring then, still nestled in a black velvet box - it sparkled as if it were brand new. There was a certain gravitas to the diamond; depsite being small, it DEMANDED attention. It felt like... home. Not a surprise, especially since every time she looked at Veer - there was a simliar feeling in her chest. Almost as if Veer was her home.
Veer had spoken to Falak Mehra, about bringing Diya back to her childhood home, wanting that familiar feeling to help ease her back into her normal life. But the older woman had refused, telling Veer that if Diya was to ease back into her normal life--that would only be possible if Veer helped her get there. And that was only going to happen when he took her to her new place. "No, you--we bought you a place in this building about a year back," he smiled before shrugging. "And then when we--well, you convinced me to finally move out as well and buy a place a few floors up from you." Except he couldn't tell her it was when they'd confessed to their feelings together because Diya hadn't a clue about that and already this was too much for her to handle. He wouldn't burden her with their feelings. "Um, check how you feel..for a few days, and if you want to go back home to Falak Ma's, I'll understand." Veer also wanted to add that he wanted to stay with her, even in the guest room so that she'd feel safe but this was Diya--Veer never made her feel safe, it was always the opposite.
Diya turned back to look at Veer when she had stepped out of the car, surprise painted in her expression, in the subtle raise of her eyebrows, the widened eyes, the puckered lips. "I bought a place?" More than that, he'd bought a place? She thought he would never move out from his parents', she even pitied the poor girl he would marry because maybe even then, Veer Singhania wouldn't move out. He was a complete homebody, and most of the time Diya loved that about him. She stared down at her feet then, something strange bubbling in her chest. He must have really LOVED her if she'd convinced him to move out of his parents. "Did Pallavi aunty finally get sick of you hogging all the food?" Jokes, she would crack jokes. They were Diya's forte in moments like this; a testament being the time she'd been on her (possible) deathbed and cracked jokes - not wanting anyone to be upset. She held out her hand for him then, wanting him to lead her into the building. She must have taken her first step into it fourteen months ago with him; if Diya was to relive those fourteen months, she wanted to do it right.
Veer only chuckled at her surprised expression, "you did. I mean obviously--I helped you find it." And this was still okay because they'd been friends and yes he'd helped her find a place to move to because that was something friends did. Except--when she'd told him to move into the building, that was a step for their relationship. He still remembered how they had been at her place, discussing how silly it was that despite working on the same film--they hardly got much time together in private. And moving in together would've been too much and would've alerted possibly everyone so moving into the same building, well that was the safer choice. "She did, but then again--Ma also sends me food every Sunday which you come over to hog quite often even though you know I cook for you whenever you demand it," he smiled before taking a bag of her belongings on his shoulder, waiting for her to join him at the door, except he caught sight of her hand, and without realizing, a wide smile was on his face once more. "Come on," he took her hand, reminiscent of the first time, and led her into the building that housed her new home and his. He knew she was trying and that meant a lot to him because he couldn't even begin to imagine what she must feel like right now--having lost fourteen months and having to recover them all at once.
Diya slid her hand into his, fingers interlocking with one another. She gripped his hand tightly as they entered the revolving doors. Except when they were inside the building, out of instinct Diya's other hand came to rest at his bicep - despite already holding hands. There was something about them that just fit, something so NATURAL it made Diya wonder if this was the past fourteen months of her life had been like: so easy, so simple, so happy. She wanted it back, she wanted all those moments back - she wanted to know WHAT had triggered her feelings. More than anything though, Diya wanted to know what it was like to fall in love with Veer Singhania, her best friend. The elevator doors shut and Diya let go of his arm to press the button for the sixth floor. She froze then, turning to look at Veer. Her eyebrows furrowed, and lips drawn downward in a pout. How had she known that?
Veer could almost allow himself to feel as though nothing had changed between them, especially considering how familiar Diya was and how comfortable she was around him in every way. He loved the way she clutched at him even though they both knew that if push came to shove, she would be the one who took charge, but it was in these subtleties where she let him feel like he was taking the lead. He smiled down at her, loving their height difference even if he'd never told her about it. Because where Diya stood was perfect height for her to lean her head against his shoulder even as they walked together and he loved the comforting feeling it would bring him. Once they were in the elevator, he was about to use his free hand to press the number when he caught her doing it, pressing the sixth-floor button, her floor. "You--you know subconsciously," he smiled and tried to reason, refusing to let himself get his hopes up entirely. This could just be out of habit for her body rather than her mind. "And I'm on the eighth floor, which you love because the view's better from there. You just picked your apartment down on sixth because of the layout, at least, that's what you'd told me."
Diya nodded, trying hard to keep her expression the same. In reality, she wanted it to fall; she didn't understand why he wasn't enthusiastic, why he wasn't cooking up theories yet. Instead she only rested her head on his shoulder, listening to him talk. There had always been something comforting about Veer Singhania speaking, ever since they had been younger. It was why her mother always invited Veer over even when she was sick; some of Diya's fondest memories of sick days were Veer's arm around her shoulders as he spoke about school; she would fall asleep to the sound of his voice, to the warmth of his embrace. It was a feeling of COMFORT she could never fake. Not even now. "Maybe I picked sixth because six is the devil's number," she mumbled, remembering how she used to tease him about horror movies. She wondered if she still cracked jokes about the time she'd made Veer watch The Grudge (the original Japanese one, not the nonsense American remake) and how he'd screamed so loud, he could have woken up the dead.
Veer smiled the moment he felt her head against his shoulder, reminding him clearly of their past. He wanted to just hold her face right then, and kiss her—REMIND her of how much he loved her. But he didn’t, aware that it would entirely catch her by surprise and perhaps not such a pleasant one. But at her words, he only shook his head and rolled his eyes. “Well then I should’ve picked 7 since being with you is like seventh heaven,” and yes, even he cringed at just how bad that line was. But once the doors opened, he took out his set of her keys and waited to see if she remembered which flat number was hers. He’d also probably have to explain why he had her keys, but she’d find her set to his house with her own as well once they entered the house—exactly where he remembered her leaving them when he’d come to pick her up for their little Lonavla getaway.
Diya couldn't help the chuckle that escaped her at Veer's retort and only whacked him gently on the shoulder. She followed him out the elevator, clinging to his side. There was something much more SCARY about standing in front of the different doors, one of them leading to her home. It was safer in the elevator, it was easier in the elevator. In the 1 meter x 1.25 meter space, all their responsibilities - all of it seemed to fade away, leaving just Veer and Diya. No pressure, no expectations, nothing. Diya liked that best. She mustered a smile before nudging him. "Did you also forget what apartment I live in?" There was a smidgen of shame in her tone, one that was perhaps too small to hear. She didn't want him to know how terrible she felt about this entire situation, about not knowing what had happened in their lives for the past fourteen months. It was a burden she didn't want Veer to bear.
Veer only laughed when he felt her smack him, finding that action very familiar and almost welcoming too. Once they were outside and he noted the way she was looking around at the different doors, he knew she couldn't remember and that was perfectly okay. Because the fact that she remembered the floor right now, was MORE than enough for Veer. He was about to lead her to her flat when he felt her nudging him and chuckled before shaking his head. "Tu bhi nahi bhooli, wait till we get inside." And Veer knew it was true, the way she'd worked at designing the ENTIRE place was crazy, there was no way she wouldn't remember at least some of it. He smiled before digging out a set of her keys and handing them to her once they were outside her door. "Mere paas, um, you gave me a set of your house keys--tere paas meri bhi hai." He offered as she unattached herself from his side and unlocked the door.
Diya took the keys he offered her. "That's smart. Maine abhi tak apni keys ghum nahin ki kya?" She remembered college, and how she'd managed to lose six pairs of her house keys, for all the three years she'd been there completing her degree. It had gotten so bad, that her housemates had started to keep spare keys in the flowerpots just in case Diya managed to lose her keys on the subway home. Once she'd thought she'd dropped them in a gutter only to get home and see them hanging on the hook, just the way she'd left them in the morning. Pushing open the door, Diya stepped in. It felt familiar right off the bat; everything, from the colours to the scent (Lemon and Eucalyptus) was familiar. Diya wheeled her head again, trying to make a three hundred sixty degree turn when her gaze fell on a pair of handprints by the door: both in white paint. "Are those... ours?" There was a memory pressing against her brain but didn't quite fall through. She just remembered painting this place with him, remembered the way they'd spent more time tossing paint at each other than painting. Diya kept this memory to herself; she didn't want to get Veer's hopes up.
Veer smiled as she spoke about losing the keys. "No, thankfully not yet. I think it's because we have them in your purse attached on something." He laughed because he remembered so many times where she'd call from London, and tell him how she lost her keys and how Veer should help. Of course, he could say nothing considering he was about 7800 miles away from her, but he'd normally stay on the phone while she continued to rant about her stupid keys. But it had changed a lot in recent times or maybe considering they were always together and he'd just take out his own keys--he never realized. Veer stayed back in the doorway, watching as Diya headed into her home, watching the way she looked around making him wonder quietly if it was looking at all familiar or she was just surprised by how different it all was. But the moment he found her looking towards him, he turned to see the handprints they'd done. He could still remember the look in her eyes when she'd suggested it, making him laugh even if he went ahead and did as she asked (as always). "They are," he smiled before shutting the door behind him. "We actually--humne yeh sab paint kiya tha, khud.." he clarified with a grin, wishing he could just hold her close and remind her of everything they'd gone through in the last few months.
Diya watched how Veer entered the house, seeming perfectly at EASE; almost as if he spent most of his time here anyway. That was probably true, they didn't have to be dating for Diya to want Veer around her at all times. What she hadn't expected was for him to be standing right behind her as they stared at the handprints, Diya's throat going dry. She wanted this; she wanted her old life back, wanted fourteen months worth of memories back. She felt as if God, and everybody else had cheated her out of them. They'd cheated her out of the happiness she had with Veer. Or at least she assumed they were happy; everything in this house certainly seemed to SUGGEST that. "ghar se zyada, humne khudko paint kiya tha..." The words came out as a mutter, almost as if Diya had no idea the words she'd spoken were a memory. She turned then, blinking at the proximity between them. She leaned in then, on instinct, to press her lips to Veer's. She'd been right. Veer was home. The feeling of his lips against hers had settled the racing of her heart, it had calmed her - made her feel as if she belonged.
Veer had moved to stand behind her, tossing his jacket on the little bench in the entrance of her home before he found her staring still at the handprints, making him wonder what exactly she was thinking of. He wanted to know, he really wanted to be privy to what was going through her mind right now but he didn't say anything. Instead, he simply watched, surprised at the soft whisper that came from her. Veer was smiling then because it was as if slowly more and more of her memories were coming back and truthfully, that was all he wanted for her to feel at ease in her life once more. "You're--" his throat went dry when he caught the way she turned around and stared at him. There was something so familiar about this, their minimal height difference always drawing a smile from him as he continued staring at her, almost raising his hand to caress her cheek. But he had hesitated until he felt her lips against his own, it was so familiar and yet almost foreign because Diya wasn't--herself entirely but he still kissed her back, his hand on her cheek now, pushing back the hair from her face, allowing himself to take this moment and let it parch whatever ache he'd been feeling inside since the accident. He missed her, he missed the woman he'd promised to marry, he missed the woman he was in love with.
Diya hadn't expected for the kiss to CONSUME the way it had. She didn't expect it to take her on a journey, one where the entire world spun way too fast for her liking and she and Veer stood in its midst, completely still. There was something so soothing about it, something that made her heart race and slow down at the exact time. It was as if they were living in a paradox for every moment their lips were connected. She let out a soft gasp when she felt his other hand snake around her waist, tugging her close to him. Another flicker of her memory returned to her then, but it wasn't strong enough. She remembered the sensation however, remembered how it felt to have Veer's skin against her as he pressed her deeper into the bed; the feeling of Veer's lips against her neck, the way he sounded when he was on the edge; most importantly however, the way he would send HER over the edge. Her fingers sank into his hair, tugging on strands lightly as she felt her back press into the wall.
Veer hadn't expected to be pushing her back into the wall, giving in to EVERY instinct he had--but that's what happened. It was like putting a seven-course meal in front of a man who had been hungry for at least four days. But his hand was still wrapped snugly around her waist, while his body pressed against hers even more so when he felt her fingers tugging his hair. What was going on? Did she remember more? Or was this just an impulse kiss? Like the one in London? (Only that one definitely didn't last this long) He smiled against her lips when he finally broke apart for air, only lowering his lips to kiss her neck, going a bit too far and leaving a small mark that he definitely hadn't planned for. "I--i'm so sorry," he whispered as he let go of her, his hands covering his face as he turned around, unable to believe he'd taken things this far when she didn't even remember their love for one another.
Diya let out a soft whimper when she felt his teeth break into the skin of her neck. Her fingers had been about to tighten their grip on his hair, allowing the pleasure to simmer its way into her body. Except he'd pulled away from her, looking away in shame. She didn't regret it; she definitely didn't regret it. Yet the way Veer apologized, it made Diya insecure. It made her feel as if she weren't enough for him. It made her feel as if he didn't want the Diya from fourteen months ago, the one with NO memories - she wasn't enough for him. He wanted the better Diya, the Diya she couldn't be because she had no memory of how to be her. This Diya however knew how much she liked the feeling of Veer's lips against hers, and it was certainly better than the kiss they'd shared in London. At least this time, nobody was passing out. "That was..." Diya felt her cheeks flush before looking away. Who had she become? The Diya she remembered herself being NEVER blushed. "Good," she finally uttered, staring at her feet, at the mispainted toes and just like that another memory pushed against the walls of her brain, begging to be heard. How they had taken a trip, how she'd convinced him to let her paint his nails while he'd been painting hers. A small smile graced her features then.
Veer stared at her in disbelief, also happy that she'd managed to break him away from the menacing thoughts he'd been battling with. Wasn't she upset with him? That was truly the only reason he'd been scared to continue the kiss. He'd heard her whimper and almost felt as if she was getting ready to push him off her. But he had to turn back, needing to see the look on her face when she said it was good, and when he did--he saw the redness on her cheeks and found himself smiling--surprised at the fact that she was actually blushing. It was rare when she did, but it was only around him, another fact that Veer prided himself on. "You--you don't hate me for letting it get out of hand?" He had his hands shoved deep into his pockets, lest he grab her for another kiss again.
Diya looked up then, head snapping up in his direction at the words he spoke. She wondered if they were always so hesitant with one another; she refused to think so. At least she wouldn't be. Diya was headstrong, perhaps to the point where it was obscene. Her mother had once said Diya refused to come inside when it was raining because she still had ten minutes of playtime left and wouldn't let anything get in the way. Of course, Diya regretted that shortly afterwards considering she'd fallen sick but those ten minutes of playing in the rain had been so satisfactory because she hadn't let the rain win. Her eyebrow kinked at him as she watched the way he shoved his hands into his jeans, balled up into fists. One would think he was sexually frustrated with the way he was behaving around her. "Absolutely not."
Veer hadn't missed the way she'd kinked an eyebrow at him when she noticed the way his hands and had to take them back out, undoing his fists while he cleared his throat. "Well, that's--good to know," he grinned before taking hold of her hand once more, and leading her deeper into the house. "Well come on then, pehle poora ghar dekh lo, and then I'll make you some food yeah?" He smiled before leading her up the stairs to where the bedrooms were. Of course, the memories that hit him were ones he hadn't expected but even looking in the direction of her bedroom reminded him of all the times they'd been there, wrapped up entirely with one another, ignoring the entire world around them.
Diya allowed him to take her hand and simply intertwined their fingers once more, feeling again that they were a PERFECT FIT. She gripped his hand tightly as he led her up the stairs, and Diya prayed, she prayed fervently that some memory would hit her. Nothing did. She swallowed her disappointment and instead asked a soft, "Why did you get your own place? I mean... you're over all the time." Her eyebrows were furrowed; especially since their families seemed so accepting, and overjoyed that they were finally together. Diya hadn't realized she'd been sitting on her mother's dream of seeing Veer Singhania. In fact, she remembered a conversation her mother had with her when Diya had been in London; she hadn't been able to talk about anything BUT Veer. Her mother had responded in an eerie, yet vague way: just be careful... To this day, Diya hasn't understood what the woman meant by it.
Veer smiled when she intertwined their fingers, making him feel like she was becoming more and more accepting of the new place their friendship had gone to in the last fourteen months, a fact she couldn't recall yet. He loved it though. Veer felt almost as if she was open truly to allowing them a chance to see what it could be like--he just hoped he didn't let down the love they both shared. "Well, the reason would be--that we wanted to take things slow," he smiled before shrugging. "And I wanted to be closer to you--waise bhi, it was time for me to finally move out na?" Veer repeated the same thing she'd said to him so many times when she'd managed to convince him to move out. "Plus--moving in together would be, well--too much scrutiny--by the media and all, so it made more sense." But that's when it hit him that she remembered he was over all the time and wondered if that was yet another memory that was coming back to her.
Diya nodded because his words made perfect sense. There was something in her chest, something that ached at the thought of him not knowing about London. She stopped him when he tried to exit the bedroom, instead trapping him against the door. It wasn't sexual in nature, rather perfectly innocent as she took Veer's hand in hers again, staring down at it. She found the action of rubbing his knuckles brought her great relief and she exhaled softly, wanting to tell him the truth. Of course, Diya didn't have her memory so she didn't know if she'd ALREADY told him. "Veer I... Do you remember London? That first night we went out?" She wasn't sure how she'd managed to spend the next two weeks around him without either wanting to confess to the intimacy, or to kiss him again (she could have, she lived alone). "Around your fifth shot, which I warned you against by the way. There was... I leaned in, and you did too. And we-- we kissed." She let out a soft chuckle. "You passed out right after that of course, great for my ego. And the rest-- well you know what happens after that." She shrugged, taking a step away. "I just thought you should know." Idiot, her conscience hissed, what if he already does?
Veer was about to turn to get out of her bedroom, the memories of sleeping in the same room with her, even if it was just sleeping, both of them cuddled together was all just too much right now because he didn't think it would be possible at least--not right now. But she ended up stopping him and he found himself smiling when she took her hand, gently rubbing his knuckles, an action he remembers asking her about, but never getting an answer. He turned to her when she spoke, raising his eyebrows, wondering where she was going with this. But he continued listening as she spoke about London and nodded, because while his memory was present for the first bit of that evening, the rest was hazy and only clarified when she'd told him about their kiss; the same kiss he thought he'd only imagined. But he listened as she spoke and laughing slightly when she mentioned trying to stop him at the fifth shot, "yeah I remember that." But then he heard her words about tehir kiss and found himself smiling a bit wider; she didn't remember telling him and he wasn't going to tell her that she already had, not when she was confessing to it in such a soft and adorable way. "Well considering your kissing expertise--I wouldn't be surprised if that's why I passed out, but you know that's now why," he held her cheek softly before wrinkling his nose, "but yes I do remember that hospital visit.." he trailed off before looking back up at her. "I--I feel like, I had remembered the kiss, but wasn't sure if it actually happened or if I was just--you know, wishful thinking." Except when she moved away from him, he used their connected hands and pulled her closer, "I'm glad you told me, but um--this last kiss--was better huh? Since no one passed out?"
Diya raised an eyebrow, using her free hand to tap her chin with her index finger. "I don't know, I don't think ONE kiss can be the judge of what kiss is better. Besides, don't you think somebody passing out means the kiss was so earth shattering there was no possible response but to pass out. So maybe, you passed out because that kiss rocked your wo--" Her words were cut off by Veer's lips on her, and Diya smiled against them. She cupped his face in her hands, not at all surprised that he had kissed her. In fact, she was relieved he'd kissed her. He was the one after all, who remembered everything. Diya didn't want to be the one to make the first move, not when she felt so uncomfortable in her skin. It was only when Veer's hands were on her, when his eyes were on her, when she was near enough to hear his heartbeat - did she feel like she had some sense of OWNERSHIP over her own life. Otherwise, it felt as if she was living on borrowed time, on Diya from fourteen months from now's life.
Veer had been listening, rather contently to her words before he realized he couldn't do it any longer. That one kiss from downstairs was enough to get him to realize what he was missing and now that he had her here in front of him, being her adorably rambling self--he couldn't help it. His lips were on hers, his hands around her waist, pulling her close before he felt her hands against his cheeks as she kissed him deeply. What was this? What was making her recuperate every kiss, every touch of his? But what Veer didn't realize, was that his hands were already working on their own accord, his fingers slipping under her shirt as he held her stomach, feeling the soft flesh familiar against his fingertips before he let out a very low moan when he felt the way her leading them towards the bed. This would be nothing more than a make out, he couldn't let them go further than that when she didn't remember. Unless, her heart was feeling the same things it used to feel for him and her mind was just getting a bit of a delayed message right now?
Diya arched into his touch, feeling every inch of her skin burn where his fingers touched. When had he learned to do that? The way his fingers moved against her bare skin, almost felt like the way one would play the piano - gentle, yet passionate and Diya did what came naturally to her, what FELT natural for her and Veer. She tugged him towards her, towards the bed as she sank into it. Her hands tugged at his shirt, breaking the kiss to lift it over his head. Another memory hit her then, one where they'd been engaging in something similar and he had gotten stuck in his shirt in a haste to get it off faster. She paused then, hands pressed against the waistband of his jeans before letting out a soft giggle. She laughed even louder when Veer stared at her and tugged him down for another kiss, giggling against his lips.
Veer hadn't expected for this moment to lead them here out of all places, especially considering she had just gotten released from the hospital. But if this was what she wanted, this was what they'd do. For once, he kept his moralistic side elsewhere and allowed himself to forget if this was right or wrong. He allowed himself to just F E E L the moment. He continued kissing her, smiling against her lips when his shirt was lifted off his person, falling back towards her, until he felt her pause. Oh no, they were moving too fast. She probably didn't want this, he was rushing it. Except that's when he heard her laugh, a sound he missed sorely before he raised an eyebrow at it considering she didn't stop. Her giggles being swallowed by his lips when they kissed once more before Veer turned them on the bed so that he could easily get her out of her shirt, pausing only when he heard her breath hitch, needing to make sure she was still okay with this without him actually asking.
Diya blinked at him when he paused, his hands hovering over the hem of her shirt. She pushed his hands away before tugging her shirt off herself, tossing it to some far corner of the room. Another memory hit her, one where she had her hand wrapped around his tie and she'd been tugging him into the bedroom. They'd tripped over the heels she'd kicked off earlier, his hands working desperately at the zipper of her dress before Diya had lost her patience, letting go of her grip on Veer's tie so she could step out of her dress herself. His phone had rang then, and as he turned towards it, Diya's grip on his tie had returned as she'd dragged him away from the phone, back to the bed. From whatever memories she could catch, it felt as if they were happy - deliriously so and not for the first time that day, Diya cursed the universe for being so cruel, for taking away all those memories from her.
Veer only stared at her in surprise when he felt her push his hands away before ridding herself of the shirt quickly enough. He hadn't expected Diya to be this eager even right now but Veer wasn't going to be opposed, not when neither of them were doing anything wrong. Before all this happened, this was something they engaged in frequently and even if she didn't remember all that, right now--she was a consenting adult and he wasn't cheating on anyone. He resumed kissing her again, loving the way her body continued to arch up against his even when he pressed her deeper into the bed. "God, I lo--," and he pulled his words back. He couldn't! Not yet, not when she'd just come back from the hospital--no matter that his words were all true, right now--they were too heavy for her and Veer needed to understand and respect that.
Diya nearly froze when she heard the opening notes of the endearment he was about to bestow on her. She knew he had probably held back because of her memory loss, a perfectly valid reason but it still STUNG. It made her feel as if he no longer wanted to give her his love, not when she wasn't his Diya anymore. Shoving those thoughts down, Diya tugged at the button of Veer's jeans, trying to undo it with unsteady hands. Even though she had no memory of it, they were like a well-oiled machine together. They worked in synchronization; they responded to each other, played off each other and Diya wondered how long it had taken them to be like this. She wanted to know what their first time had been like. There were so many questions she had, and yet when she felt his lips at her neck - Diya let ALL of those thoughts take a backseat. Nothing else mattered besides him right now, besides what they were currently engaging in. Her legs wrapped around his waist, tugging him down towards her.
Veer cursed himself for saying what he'd been just about to say. Of course, she'd frozen up and paused when she heard it, how could Veer just say that so suddenly? This wasn't like their friendship love, this was the intense other type of love that he wasn't quite sure she wanted from him yet. He could feel her fiddling around with his jeans and replaced her hands with his own, moving the button through the hole and sliding them off his hips and legs, leaving him in just his boxers until he began repeating the same step on her, only before he could--she was pulling him closer, causing him to fall onto her once more, his head in the crook of her neck while he trapped her in, mouthing all the words he couldn't say outloud against her neck, her collarbone, her jawline, every inch of skin he could reach.
Diya shut her eyes when she felt his lips against his neck. It was only when she focused on the movement of his lips, of the words he was trying to engrave into her skin that Diya squeezed her eyes shut even tighter. She could feel tears pressing against her eyelids, but NO, she couldn't let her emotions ruin this. She wouldn't let it. This- what they were engaging in would tell her if they were meant to be. And yet, if Diya listened closely to her heart she didn't need this fool's errand. Her heart had always been Veer's, ever since London. Diya's hands grasped at his shoulders, letting out a hitched murmur of his name, arching up into his touch. It was then she realized she wanted this; she didn't want anything else. She only wanted Veer Singhania; she only wanted his LOVE. He was her home.
Veer should've pulled away once they'd both managed to somewhat recover from their high, and yet--he held her close, his hands wrapping around her middle as he kept her close to himself, allowing his body to seek warmth from her own before he pushed back a few of her loose hair strands and continued staring at her content face. He could tell her, couldn't he? He could utter the soft confession that he'd been wanting to since the hospital, a quiet little 'I love you Diya Mehra,' right? But what if it freaked her out and ruined the calmness that had thankfully come back into their relationship. No, Veer was better off keeping quiet, allowing her to come to terms with what it was she wanted before he forced his feelings on her.
