came up with bonus tourney fighter wrestler nickname slang

Erin Greene = Sonic Volt

Based on Sonic the Hedgehog, he’s the opposite to Ruby’s light speed. “Volt” is the shade of lime-green most commonly used on Nike products.

Ruby Raleigh = Vermillion Vacay

I wanted Ruby to have a parody of “Party Poison” as her nickname. Vermillion is a toxic red pigment, and “Vacay” is short for vacation. Not a perfect parody, but matches her chillax attitude and both a vacation and a party would be a place to do some debauchery

Cobalt Zaffre = Azure Thunderstorm

Oddly enough, I didn’t realize that Cobalt’s three elements (lightning, ice, wind) would all be ingredients in some sort of weather storm. I think he’d be simple and prefer the term “Thunderstorm” in comparison to flashier terms like tempest or hurricane, but Azure is a very special shade of blue to him.

Alizarin Madder = Crimson Jackrabbit

I honestly just wanted to reference Aliza’s origins in J:MON/my college’s Jack and the Beanstalk project. It’s easy since he’s already a Hare fighter, but I also found out that the term “jackrabbit” came to be as short for “jackass-rabbit”, which could be fitting for his more feral attitude. Alizarin red is more commonly known as “alizarin crimson”. I think the public and his fans are basically calling him a red idiot-jerk.

Jay = Silver Fox

I’ve been calling Jay’s disguise the “Silver Fox”, based off of black foxes who are known as silver foxes. I think this being their tournament nickname would justify myself calling them the Silver Fox, though it’s more likely they’d come up with an actual name for their disguise. I don’t wanna add TOO many animal references to Jay’s character, but I’ve also been looking at the “pachliopta hector”, or “crimson rose” butterfly.

Blaze Saffron = Auric Inferno

Safira Majorelle = Scorching Sapphire

I imagined these two would be very simple, being in similar tiers of tournament fighting skill they’d contrast each other a LOT. I think some of their fans would view them as unofficial rivals, leading to contrasting nicknames.

I would’ve actually loved to name Safira “Sapphire” instead, though I made Sapphire Odell first and didn’t feel like ripping her away from being Alizarin’s partner.

In short,

Blaze = [GOLD] [FIRE]

Safira = [BLUE] [FIRE]

Elliot Wolfsbane = Tatarinow’s Tenebris

I think I wanted Elliot’s nickname to be some sort of “Purple Shadow” or “Something Something Phantom”, since he’s inspired by DJ Phantom from Gacha World (weird insp, I know lmao)

Since Elliot already takes his name from a type of purple aster (Elliott’s Aster), I scrounged for any other aster types that would give some sort of alliterate nickname.

There’s another purple aster called Tatarin Aster or Tatarinow’s Aster. I think there’s room for improvement on his nickname, but I quite like his name being “Aster’s Darkness”.

Alex Haint = Aqua Incinerator

I forgot I also wanted Alex’s name to be some form of [CYAN] [FIRE] like Blaze and Safira’s nicknames, though a lot of cyan shades are either more teal or,,, not really appealing as names (skobeloff?? verdigris??)

I forgot “Aqua” was a good Cyan term, so I just followed the same thing as Blaze’s nickname (starting with both vowels instead of perfect alliteration).

Mimi Blossom = Candy Crusher

I forgot the term “crusher” and instead put “conqueror” at first, buut if I get copyrighted for calling her Candy Crusher I’d switch to conqueror with no roadblocks lmao.

Mimi is a very Pinkie Pie inspired character, and “cotton candy” is a shade of Pink. I wanted a very violent nickname for her to contrast the cutesy associations for Pink, so I went for something like “Crusher”, which I’ve honestly taken from Wiz101 again.

Maybe I’ll change these again sometime, but I quite like these so far :]

Once when I was working at camp, on staff training week we stayed up really late & talked about angels & demons but I’m getting to the funny part ok. ok so we were in the dining area & we were all supposed to be in our rooms/sleeping and one of the cooks came & we all freaked out & ran upstairs to our rooms I swear that was the fastest I had ever run but it was hilarious
