There were pros and cons about having an away game in Florida. The main pro was that they got to spend a whole weekend in a different place and Poppy had made plans of enjoying the beaches on their days off. The main con -and it’s a big one- was the trip itself. For some goddamn reason, PSU didn’t pay for the foxes & vixens flight to the game. That meant that they had two busses full of restless athletes and a trip of, at least, eight hours. 

With four hours behind them, the bright orange busses made a stop, and Penelope couldn’t be happier. She stretched as soon as she got out of the bus then ran to the small dinner that quickly got crowded with drowsy foxes and vixens. She slid into the first booth she could find a spare spot, smiling to the striker across the table. —  ❛ How things are going on the Foxes’ side of this trip, Day? Because, you know I love my girls but our energy for road trip songs worn out a few hours ago and I’m cursing whoever thought hat this was a better idea than to flight there. ❜  —

“no,  don’t  you  dare  yell  at  me,  kevin  day,”  lillian  was  on  the  tips  of  her  toes  in  her  boots,  finger  pointed  up  at  him  as  if  she  was  scolding  an  unruly  child,  rather  than  the  next  olympic  gold  exy  champion.  she  could  feel  the  eyes  of  his  teammates  on  her,  along  with  the  a  handful  of  the  trojans  that  were  still  hanging  around  the  court  to  witness  the  whole  ordeal,  “i  have  done  nothing  wrong.  i  merely  suggested  to  allison  that  you  were  working  her  too  hard  &&  her  wrist  would  heal  wrong  if  she  didn’t  rest  correctly  -  it  was  up  to  her  to  drop  out  of  the  game.  if  the  foxes  are  any  good,  you  can  do  without  her  for  the  time  being.”  she  huffed,  folded  her  arms,  feet  landing  back  flat  on  the  ground,  partially  expecting  him  to  accuse  her  of  cheating.

“    JESUS-  grow a fucking spine would you ?    ”    neil hissed in scathing french,  his grip on kevin unrelenting.  despite their difference in size neil was all but holding kevin up as he forced the other striker forward with an irritated scowl.  how,  neil wondered,  could kevin have such power and confidence on the court but be such a coward everywhere else.  it wasn’t like his life was in any real danger.  if neil could go on national television when people with people out to literally kill him then kevin could pose for a few pictures.    

“    you’ve had that 2 on your face since as long as anyone can remember and now you’ve gone and got something different.  it’s big news and your fans want to see it,  this is good publicity for you--  or were you really so drunk when you got that ink done that you already regret it.    ”    in neil’s experience the best way to get kevin to cooperate was to piss him off and that happened to be one of his specialties.    “    i’m not going to let anything happen to you so relax.  riko isn’t going to jump out from behind a curtain and punish you.    ”    even though that’s basically what happened at the kathy show,  is what neil doesn’t say.
