para || Brobasanderose: Not So Fine, 1/27/2017
Tagging: @sebadasssmythe @wmhs-marleyrose @mr-blainderson and @squaredancing-weston
Time: early Friday morning to Friday evening, 27 January 2017
Setting: Lima Memorial Medical Center, Lima, OH
Summary:  Brody and Marley get Sebastian to the hospital and while they wait it out, Brody thinks to call Blaine, who is probably getting tired
Notes: Serious Illness, Hospitalization
Headcanon Part Two of Three
It’s pneumonia, not hypothermia.  A day or so of IV antibiotics and he’ll be discharged from the hospital, where he can rest up and take the rest of his meds at home.  He’ll have a cough for two months or so, but he could probably go back to work within six weeks they say.
He’s still in a hospital bed, but he'd be dry-- and in a hospital gown. (Yea!  No pants!  Woo! he got his wish after all!)
Marley would feel so bad
(It's his own fault.  Moron had a key.  Plus Marley's emergency key.  Plus he had his phone.)
She'd feel so bad.“Why were you even out there?!”
Awkward pause. "I dunno, Marls, I was drunk" Also he'd have to deny to Brody that Brody telling him to do something and him showing up at Marley's house were not related.   With a really weak argument.   Because really?
(Brody'd be //so// mad.  Honestly he might be about ready to break his no punching people policy)
"No its more. Why didn't you just go inside?!?"
Shrugs "Told you. I was drunk. I wasn't thinking clearly."
Marley shakes her head. "You passed out in the cold. You could be dead."
And he ducks his head and sighs.  "Yeah, well. I'm not." He's not going to be able to justify any of this, let’s be real.
She hits him. Like hits his chest. "That isn't an excuse."
Which would probably send him into a fit of coughs again.
And she feels super guilty again.
"Fine. I fucked up. I'm an idiot. I'm sure this isn't news to you." Mumbling that she wouldn't get this kind of drama with Mr. Boring.
She’s crying at this point. "Don't call yourself that! God, you could have died." She cries into his arms.
He hugs her and apologises.  Anything to get her to stop crying.
They let her stay, of course: set up a cot in the room next to him, though she’s pretty much in the same bed.   She'd probably get sick herself since she wouldn’t think to change her clothes, but Brody has spares in his truck, like a sweatshirt and stuff. Then she is wearing his clothes.
And this would just prove to Sebastian that he's not good enough for her, to be honest Because really, he can't deny by this point how he feels to himself
(So he admits he has feelings for her? No, not to her. To himself, though, yeah.)
Brody's still sitting in the waiting room when Blaine reappears, but at least he's not alone.  Not that he cares about the strangers around him, because he's going to be leaving in just a minute. He still hasn't eaten anything, and he looks half-dead from lack of sleep "I thought you were going to class?"
"I did, Brody. You know it's 4:30, right?"
He looks down at his cell phone.  "Oh"  "Yeah.  I should probably go soon."
Blaine just looks at him sadly and shakes his head. "Of course you will," he'd say softly. "I'm about to force Marley to go clean up and get food. If, hypothetically, you're still here when we get back, I'm planning on bringing some back; what would you like?"
"I'm not really that hungry-- I think I might have eaten something."  He's got two untouched cups of coffee next to him and a vending machine snack with like a bite taken out of it (the nurses brought it to him because he's cute and sad and alone, but he doesn't really remember that) "He's awake."  It's a weird thing to say-- should have been the first thing out of his mouth, obviously, but Brody still doesn't know what to do with the information himself, so it took a while to think to say it.  "Sort of."
Observes the scene around Brody. "I'm not saying you're lying, but I think it's a good idea for something more substantial." Heart skips a beat, relieved that he's finally awake, though his brows furrow at the addition. "Sort of?"
Shrugs.  "He's in and out of it.  He should be sleeping anyways."  God knows if he's been getting any sleep considering how many nights he's been out.  "But he might be awake.  Marley probably is-- she was down when he first woke up." She'd wanted him to come up-- to see him, but it wasn't his place.  Brody didn't belong up there.  Hell, he didn't really belong in //here//.  He really should just leave.  In just another minute
Blaine nods in agreement, knowing that with something like pneumonia, Bas really should be sleeping. He sighed, hearing Marley was probably awake. "She needs sleep too." He looks Brody over, noticing that he looked worse for the wear. "I'm going to go grab her, talk to Bas for a minute. After that, why don't you go up and see him, and then go home and get some sleep, yeah?" It really wouldn't have surprised him if Brody hadn't slept at all.
"Yeah, she should.  I mean, if you can convince her."  Brody doubted Marley was going to go anywhere.  Blaine suggested he go up and Brody's eyes widened in surprise-- why did everyone think he should be up there?  "Me?  No, I mean-- I just wanted to make sure... you know, everything's...okay.  I can go now.  I mean, I probably should.  Since he's going to be fine."  He nodded more to himself than Blaine.  "He's going to be fine."
He chuckles. "Yeah, which is why I'm planning on carrying her more than anything." He rolls his eyes, going over to pat Brody on the shoulder. "You've been here for 16 hours at least, please stop pretending that you're not here for another reason."
Brody lets out  a soft laugh, but it's all he can manage.  However, he doesn't doubt the truth behind Blaine's words.  He blinks stupidly as Blaine's hand hits his shoulder-- has it really been sixteen hours?  That sounds like a long time.  But he doesn't really have anything to say about why he can't go up there-- he's tired of arguing the point, really-- so he just repeats, "You should head up there.  They'll both be glad to see you."
Blaine sighs and with one last pat to Brody's shoulder, he turns and walks up
So Blaine walks up the stairs to Bas's room, unsure of how he'll be received. He takes a deep breath before he pushes open then door, preparing for any type of reaction
It hasn't been all that long since Sebastian woke up, so he's still pretty dazed, and, in all honesty, drained, despite the fact that he's been sleeping the majority of the day. He can't really remember the events of last night, but Marley's filled him in already - or the best that she could. When Blaine walks through the door, he's half expecting it to be Brody. He should've figured he wasn't going to come in without prompting. Stubborn. It doesn't make him any less relieved to see one of his best friends, though. He licks his lips, watching the shorter man and stiffening a little. When they'd last talked, he'd been a dick - and an irrational part of him isn't sure how Blaine's going to be with him right now. He had told Sebastian not to be stupid, after all. Of course he had to go ahead and not listen. He clears his throat. "Hey, B.
Blaine offers a small smile and bobs his head a bit. "Hey," he says softly, still hovering awkwardly by the door. He was unsure if Sebastian even wanted to see him. "How are you..." he begins to ask hesitantly. He clears his throat and continues. "How are you feeling?"
Sebastian ducks his head, hardly daring to look his friend in the eyes, but he decides to go for the blunt truth, too tired to put up any form of pretense. "Shit." He watches as the shorter man seems to hang awkwardly at the door, and he can't help but feel guilty. If he were Blaine, he wouldn't want to talk to Sebastian either. He decides to attempt to clear the air. "...what, no hug?" he quips somewhat weakly.
Blaine's smile widens just a bit, looking down at his feet before he looks back up. "You look like it, too." He let out a short but very audible sigh of relief. "Oh my god, yes." He practically raced over and immediately put his arms around his older friend. He stayed there for a moment, taking deep breaths to hold back the tears. "I'm sorry," he whispered, not really knowing what else to say.
He huffs out a small breath of amusement at Blaine's statement - which, he knows, is probably far too accurate for words right now. "Way to kick a guy when he's down, Killer," replies, but there's a small smile lining his lips that betray his words. When Blaine wraps his arms around him, his chest loosens instantly, and he's about to apologise when Blaine beats him to it, and- /wait, what?/  He blinks, squeezing the other in his arms as much as his limited strength will allow him before pulling back to study his face with a furrowed brow. "Why are /you/ sorry? I was the one acting like an asshole." As per usual.
Blaine just chuckles as he made his way over to the bed. He pulls back from the hug, hands lingering on Sebastian's arms, one hand reaching up to wipe away a tear that had been threatening to fall. "I'm not denying that, but I shouldn't have gotten pissy. With as many times as you said 'I'm fine' I should've been trying to talk to you. Not that with your stubborn ass it would've done any good, but you know what I mean," he said with a small chuckle.
He spots Blaine's watery eyes, and his stomach churns, because, fuck - he did that. He did that to /Blaine/, of all people. No. Blaine isn't taking on the guilt for Sebastian's shit. "I pushed you away. You can't blame yourself for that, B." There's just something about the exhaustion that's making it far too much effort to put up a front right now. "You tried. You did what you could and I didn't listen. You're not blaming yourself for this," he reaffirms stubbornly.
He shakes his head, sucking in a breath. "I love how you all forget that I'm just as stubborn as you. I think it's safe to say that we're both at fault. I've been so wrapped up in Bing and fawning over Hunter; I should've tried harder. You were there for me and I wasn't for you." He stopped talking, managing to feel even worse, as if that was possible. He paused for a moment. "You were an ass though," he muttered under his breath, trying to lighten the mood as best as he could.
This was a disaster, and far from how Marley saw her night ending. She was wearing a Sweater that were too big on her due to her outfit being soaked from the snow, her hair was in a messy bun, and she was tired. That didn't matter though. Sebastian was laying in a bed hooked up to wires, and it was all her fault. Marley couldn't believe what she saw when she got home. Her best friend passed out in her on her porch, his body burning up. She tried getting him inside, but couldn't. She called Brody and here they were. She couldn't believe this happened. She still felt numb to the entire situation. Sebastian woke up in the morning confused, and she explained everything the best she could. When he fell asleep again, she tried getting Brody to come up, but he wouldn't, and that hurt. It was her fault. Marley ended up heading down the hall to talk to one of the nurses, and headed back to the room when she realized he wasn't alone. For a moment she thought it was Brody. Marley perked up a bit, but walked in and saw Blaine, and she bit her lip, before forcing a smile. "Hey." She said quietly, smiling at the older man. "Am I interrupting something? I can go get coffee.." She offered, even though she had a cup in her hand.
Blaine turned his head and smiled at his other friend, walking over to give her a hug. "Hey, no, I was just checking in," he said, not wanting to draw attention to his slightly emotional state, lest it cause her to get upset. He clears his throat. "I would love coffee. At your house. And hey! While we're there, you can take a shower! Change out of those sweats!"
Tugging at her sweats, which were Brody's, and way too big for her, she shook her head. "I am fine." She said quietly, putting her cup on the side table in Sebastian's room. "Seriously, can wait till I go home."
Blaine chuckled. "Believe me, the last thing I want to do is keep you from being here. Just an hour. Hour and a half tops. He'll still be here, unless he makes the nurses angry."
Sebastian lifts his head to watch the two, face softening. "You should get some rest, Marls."
Marley glanced over at Sebastian, and back at Blaine. "I don't know.." She said quietly, biting down on her lip. "I mean.. I guess I could get some things.. clothes for my stay, and maybe some stuff for Sebastian too.."
Blaine nodded with an encouraging smile. "Exactly. I'm planning on getting food to bring back, we can swing by his apartment and grab some things too."
Marley nodded her head, though she didn't exactly agree. "Right." She said slowly, shifting, and biting her lip. "I have enough of his stuff at my place.. we don't have to go to his place." She said quietly. He had a few drawers full of stuff at her house.
Blaine tried to hide his smirk. "Okay then, that settles that." He turned back around to Sebastian. He smiled again, though slightly sad. "We'll be back." He turned back around. "Well, I guess we should go, see if Brody's still down in the waiting room and see if I can either get him up here or to go home and get some sleep."
Sebastian presses his lips together. He's avoided asking for Brody thus far, hoping that the idiot would come up of his own free will, but apparently not. By all rights, he should be telling them to send the older teacher home - but Sebastian needs to see him. To... thank him. Or something. All he knows is that he wants to /see/ him. "Send him up." Only for a little bit. He's not going to force him to sit and wait with him or anything. Why he's even still here is beyond Sebastian - but he can't say he's not grateful.
Blaine, probably a little too dramatically, threw his hands up. "THANK YOU." He didn't even wait for an answer as he grabbed Marley's hand and pulled her through the door. As they passed Brody, Blaine stopped quickly. "He wants you. So will you /please/ go see him?"
