the human component of the IPRE crew is so wild because lucretia and magnus are in their late teens/early twenties and barry is in his fifties. like maybe the rest of the crew is sort of bad with human ages and was just like, cool with it but barry... he definitely thought they were literally children when they started. it’d be like going on a science mission with someone who could be your kid.
and magnus and lucretia are absolutely adult adults by human standards after tsc, but they’d have these unaged bodies of people who look incredibly young, despite their actual age. do you think they made fun of barry for being old even though by the time tsc was half over they were pretty much peers (70 is more peer to 100 than 20 is to 50)?
do you think it like, got to barry in a way? seeing magnus for the first time in here be gerblins, dying and remembering him? and of course magnus is a man, he’s 120ish when they get to faerun. even so, merle and taako probably look relatively the same, but magnus... you see someone for a hundred years as a young dude with a black eye and then suddenly seeing him as a man in his mid thirties with scars that actually stayed?
what about seeing lucretia, even worse than magnus, aged not only by the natural passage of time but another 20 by wonderland, tired and old eyes finally matching the way her body looks? that she looks the same age as he did for that century?
and barry’s body doesn’t age post-canon; he’s a reaper. lucretia and magnus kept aging until they passed him, until they looked older, and a century is a long, long time by human standards and it’s sort of easy to forget that outside of that IPRE mission, humans ages much much more quickly than anyone else.
magnus tries to joke about how he’s the old man now, and barry laughs, but it’s not really as funny as it used to be.
