it took me longer than I care to admit to realize the reason tmos’s cover is an elephant is probably because elephants are Thaena’s sacred animal. and thaena sure was. important. that book

#a chorus of dragons #the memory of souls #that covers bothered me for a while #well. not bothered. but bemused #book 1 dragon makes sense. sharanakal #book 2 horse: horat #book 4 kraken: the Lash #book 5: kind of a halo around a skull? kind of divine and dead? which fits well enough #also with the glyphs on them #but an elephant…? there are no elephants in book 3 #my first though was the whole thing about elephants having long memories #and it’s the memory of souls #but that always felt weak #however! thaena is tied to elephants #and she sure was present and influential that book #so. that seems more correct #took me a while to put together #still might be wrong though
