i just dont get people who think that kazuma and ryuunosuke’s relationship would be all sunshine and rainbows and yayyy we’re best friends forever!!!! after dgs2 because like. it won’t. they still love each other more than anyone else but their relationship is never going to be the same, not really, because kazuma has been lying to ryuunosuke since the moment that they met and every single one of his deep, dark secrets has stepped forward into the light. kazuma’s breakdown in court must have been scary for ryuunosuke, because this was the person who he had looked up to for so long as his pillar, his source of inspiration, his guiding light, and now he’s crumbling across the room and this dark, ugly part of himself is laid bare for the world to see and he can’t even do anything about it except push forward towards the truth. i dont think there’s any way that 2-5 doesn’t cause some sort of significant shift in the way that ryuunosuke sees kazuma—his harsh words to kazuma to ground him indicate as such—and i think that kazuma entrusting karuma to ryuunosuke before he leaves to return home is quite sad, because it shows the way their positions have flipped; kazuma used to be ryuunosuke’s biggest inspiration, his desire to keep fighting embodied, and now kazuma is too ashamed to face ryuunsouke until he feels as though he has redeemed himself. they’re still partners and they still care for each other so, so much, but this year apart has fundamentally changed them as people in ways that can never really be undone. and i think boiling their postgame relationship down to Yay Now We Can Date is kind of dumb LOL
