daughter of the deep is actually honestly truly one of rick’s best works. not really plot-wise (i’m still more partial to the greek/norse/egyptian works because i’ve spent more time w them 😔) but i mean more in terms of characters and their relationships. like first of all i LOVE that ana and gem were actually friends at the end??? there wasn’t much romance hinted btwn the two?? and like rick is known for his pairing of people so i found this amazing. BUT ALSO ANA AND DEV. i was IN LOVE w dev because of his antagonist arc. he reminded me so much of luke castellan because both of them thought they were doing their loved ones better by joining the “dark” side (for lack of better words) because they felt the side they were on was only failing them. but ana and devs relationship as siblings was just so good because you could FEEL her betrayal and how much she lost hope in him. anyway this was by far one of rick’s best works when you look at it in terms of characters & their relationships
