I’m a pretty casual fan of ASOIAF, Lord of the Rings is more my style, but I’ve been reading some of the lore recently and I’m absolutely delighted by how many parallels and clear inspirations GRRM took from Arthurian legend. Aemond in particular caught my attention because he bears such a striking resemblance to Mordred in so many ways in terms of his role in the narrative. Mutual kill with his uncle? Check. Close relationship with an evil sorceress? Check. Mommy issues? Check. Doomed by the historical narrative? Check. Are you a fan of Arthurian legend? What are your thoughts?
Tumblr media
Same.
I'm pretty steeped in ASoIF lore - though Martin continues to change the lore at convenience - but I'm a bigger Tolkien fan and nerd than G.R.R. Martin. Especially Tolkien's First Age Stories like "Beren and Luthien" & "Children of Hurin".
"Beren & Luthien" might be the greatest story ever told. Around Christmas I put that chapter on when I'm out doing Christmas shopping and when I'm out on my Birthday.
And "Children of Hurin" is one of my favorite books of all time - the audiobook as read by Christopher Lee is beyond epic. And has been one of the biggest influences on my writing.
As for Arthurian Legend, I grew up on it. My old man was a geek before the word really existed and he was into fantasy. So, I was introduced into Knights and Chivalry at a very - very - early age. Especially in the early-2000's when "Lord of the Rings" was big but there wasn't a lot of it available where I lived, my 11-13 year old self's want for Lord of the Rings anything sent me back down into the Arthurian rabbit hole.
I grew up with and still love "Excalibur" and the Merlin Mini-Series from the late-90's that Jim Henson and NBC did.
It's funny you bring up Tolkien and Arthurian Myth because I've written Downton Abbey fanfiction for years and a lot of the story series is based on "The Children of Hurin" by Tolkien and I used archetypes from Arthurian Legend for the characters. I steeped a lot of those Downton Abbey stories in an Arthurian mold and Tolkien sensibilities.
As for Aemond being Mordred.
Oh, you done done it now, my friend.
You got me started.
If I might expand your ascertain of Aemond being Mordred.
The way I see it is that Alicent is Guinevere and Criston is Lancelot. Aemond is most definitely Mordred. And Daeron is absolutely Galahad.
I would postulate that both Aemond and Daeron are the sons of Alicent and Criston's duality. Of course, I don't mean literally - but figuratively. They were both born after Alicent and Criston devoted themselves to one another, both were raised by the two, and both look at Criston is more of a father than Viserys. Unlike say Aegon and Helaena. Both Aemond and Daeron see Alicent and Criston as their parents.
Much like Mordred, I see Aemond as sort of the manifestation of all of Alicent and Criston's sins of envy and lust, not just of Rhaenyra's transgressions, but of their want for one another. Aemond bears Criston's hatred and Alicent's anger. He is a creation, a creature, of that darker and more human side of a virtuous and righteous idealistic veneer.
While, much like Galahad, Daeron embodies the ennobling features of Criston and Alicent's relationship. He is the dutiful and virtuous figure that his mother strives to be and the stalwart and just warrior that Criston tries to maintain. Making him the noblest of all knights.
While Aemond carries Alicent and Criston's humanity and flaws
Daeron bears their idealism and dreams.
The two showing the almost duality of their parent's two natures as a whole.

Wakasa Rumi Theory Series: Part 1 of 3
It's been such a long time coming but I've finally done it! My Wakasa Rumi Theory is here and I can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions 🙌🏼 💛
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Before I jump right in, I'll be breaking down the theory into a 3 part series because there's just soo much to cover 😅. By the end of it I will have covered the following:
Why I think she's Asaca.
Her probable relationship to Haneda Koji.
How she became Amanda's bodyguard.
What might have happened on the day of Haneda Koji's murder.
How Haneda Koji's dying message directly refers to RUM as his killer.
Why Wakasa went on a hiatus for 17 years since the murder.
Reason behind Haibara liking Wakasa.
As y'all can see I'm going to cover a lot so I hope this explains why it took me so long to put it out, so sorryyyy 🙈🙏🏼 The ones in bold are the ones I'm covering in this post...
Anyways enough stalling and on with the first point:
1. Why I think Wakasa is in fact Asaca.
Well, let's start with what we know about Asaca. She is a woman who was mysteriously hired as Amanda Hughes' bodyguard, and is a strong, skilful fighter. Her identity is shrouded in mystery and ever since the murder, she has disappeared with no one knowing who she was and where she went. Now coming onto Wakasa...She's an obviously strong, ruthless fighter who was even able to take on Rei in the Eerie Farm Chapter.
Tumblr media
There were also two foreshadowings made. The first was in chapter 954 when Akai asked if there was a careful, strong fighter who appeared around the girls and Sonoko answered that Ran is the closest person to match such a description and calling her a bodyguard. From this, we can assume Asaca, like Ran, is a fierce fighter but because they appear kind, their power is underestimated...just like Wakasa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second foreshadowing was the fact that Wakasa's introductory case revolved around unsolved events that started 10 years ago. I find this eerily similar to the whole Haneda Koji situation.
The last reason that makes me think Asaca is Wakasa is this panel from Chapter 1072 which is eerily similar to Asaca's picture from the blog.
Tumblr media
Now moving onto the second part of the theory:
2. Her probable relationship to Haneda Koji.
For this part of the theory, I'll be honest I have no concrete evidence on any of my assumptions. I'm only basing them on an easter egg I noticed in the second case she was involved in. With that being said, I think she is probably his love interest. I'm not sure if they were in a relationship, but there seems to be some sort of connection between them. The reason why I don't think she is his sister is because there was no mention of a 'sister' going missing since the murder. With his family being rich and influential, they would have also made a fuss about their daughter going missing. So the likelihood that Wakasa is related to him through blood is slim. However, if she was his girlfriend or just someone he loved, his family may not have necessarily found out about her yet. Also the second case she was involved in since her introduction served as an easter egg in my opinion.
Tumblr media
In Chapter 978, the case was about a sports player flying overseas for a championship and was leaving his girlfriend behind. While the events are not 100% identical, there are subtle similarities between the case and Haneda Koji travelling overseas for a chess championship.
One last thing I noticed is a parallel between her flashbacks and Jodie's flashbacks of her father's murder.
Tumblr media
In the Vermouth Arc, there was a lot of speculation that Jodie could be Vermouth and she was the one who killed the man from her memories, but that did not turn out to be the case. In the current RUM arc, it was presumed that Asaca is RUM but that also has been debunked. Wakasa's memories of Haneda Koji would seem to imply she was the one who murdered him, but judging by Gosho's pattern of making innocent characters seem most suspicious, and the fact that Asaca isn't RUM (who is the true murderer), it just makes me believe that Wakasa is probably his love interest just like Jodie was the daughter.
Onto the third part of the theory:
3. How did Wakasa become Amanda's bodyguard.
If Wakasa isn't lying about her age, she would have been 20 years old at the time of the murder. Most probably at 20, it is hard to believe she would have been a full-time employee for some security company. Therefore, one can assume if she was Haneda Koji's love interest and he is aware of her skills, he could have offered Amanda that Wakasa helps guard her for the time they're spending in the States. So if this was done as a favour between friends, it would make sense why Amanda's family knew nothing about her or how she was hired. This is just my speculation but I honestly can't think of anything else to explain how she became her bodyguard 😂.
This is it for this post! In Part 2, I'll discuss what might have happened in the murder and the meaning behind the dying message (linked here). So I hope you enjoyed this post and happy reading for the next one 😁💛

will you be updating Murphy’s law anytime soon?
it's in the works but at shit slow pace. I want to make sure my first series on here is executed as logically accurate as possible, if that makes sense? Also I've been overthinking lately so there is that.
BUT for you nonnie, I'll be nice and throw you a bone. This is from one of the chapters so enjoy!
Preview below the cut. (still needs to be fleshed out) warning: mentions death. 18+ nsfw — MINORS DO NOT INTERACT
Tumblr media
'If you had every reason to kill someone and you could pick between the two, who would you point the gun at? Laurie or Andrew.'
There’s some culling silence in the dark, barring infirmary. You’re disparaging at what criminal psychologists would aim meticulously to be a menagerie thought.
How is it that every time you make it to Billy Barber, his ask would be this, a vengeful spewed rumination that was inappropriate and obscured to your surrounding. This back and forth that has most certainly gone on for years since his first induction in the Newton State detention facility.
The older gentleman behind him mindfully warns you a conflictive gaze, always reprimanding you throughout your staggered visitations that inevitable spiraled out of bounds and back into remission.
'Pay no mind to Alfred darling. He knows it’s all hypothetical psycho-babble.' Billy continues to conspire eloquently, his facial contours remain neutral even if looks were meant to impale.
‘So he thinks.’ Alfred retorts from a far. As a corrupt jailor, he’s been offered his shillings and now he waits for you to take yours.
‘No answer is a wrong answer.’ Billy grotesquely asserts in front of you.
Sometimes it's never the given options but the choices you make that either inhabit the best or the worst paralleling reality.
Killing wasn’t a conquerable relic nor was it a forefront acclimation.
But here you were, shucked in a steel seat, sparring the details that veered your case only to entertain his mortality question of the day which foretold the season in a windowless room.
You slowly open your mouth but he’s quick to snipe you. ‘You’re also not allowed to plead the fifth.’
‘Look, I don’t moralize to kill, no matter the circumstance. That’s not why I’m here.’ You remind him.
He cracks a wicked grin, scoffing a gentle laugh before turning to his guarding officer who doesn't confide in him this time.
‘That’s a shame. So what you’re just a Sisyphean bounty hunter?’ He returns to assuming, disappointed by your diplomacy.
‘I’ve been around for weeks, you’d know that I'm far from it.“ you patronize the delinquent time and time again.
'To no avail. C’mon sweetheart don’t you think you need me out first and away from earshot?' Billy hisses under the darkened pot lamp that draws the faintest silhouette of his aging face. 'We can't work like this. I know I can't.'
‘You’re not being recorded or watched.’ You mention alongside a growing migraine that comes over you, debilitating your stance. ‘I made sure of it.’
‘Bullshit! You know how many of your guys come in here with different ties, wanting to know different things. Steve, Curtis, that dislodged IT guy from Panama.’
‘Jensen.’ You correct him dully.
‘The point is this isn’t a bust." He drives a finger into the steel table and leans in closer with sworn secrecy. 'I trust you Y/N because you know exactly what it is that I want. We’ve had our dealings since time, you’ve been my girl. Now tell me, whose head.’
The rail alarm goes off. Your time is up and he snarls, turning his hand into a pounded fist.
‘You two can carry on.’ Alfred calmly states after turning to look over his shoulder.
‘You know they're not getting divorced right?’ You get to the point as a matter of fact.
‘So that means he can’t have you.’ Billy knows. He finds it absolutely sprightful but doesn't banter with you.
‘By law.’ You fixate by further mumbling the legalities of their out of house separation. The Barber patriarch simply nods, following your cue before trying to velour some thought.
'What else?' He finally coaxes, his darkened eyes searches yours as his forehead wrinkles like any waning parent.
You soon look to Alfred whose probably gotten the telegram, the news that was continuously shattering the outside world. Almost everyone knew except for him.
'What else, Y/N?'
'Your grandson's dead.' You inform him, gutless and pained.
'Huh?' Billy scoffs again after some chilling silence. This time it's tongue in cheek and laced with despicable anger. 'And you’re not sure about her?’
‘I have nothing Bill.' You plead while remorsefully falling short on leads.
‘Did you hear her pull the trigger?’ He backtracks to the very moment that keeps you up at night. The voicemail where you heard it all. There's some stern sadness that rocks your form but keeps up with his interrogative persistence. Nothing was left to be, the past was always the curtailing present and V always stood for vendetta.
‘No.’ The quiet whisper escapes your lips and he nearly growls.
‘Then let me.’
