who taught this new generation of readers and writers that 1st pov is bad or means that the story sucks

#i've seen so many people saying that books/ffs in 1st pov are a no no #but not in a respectful way #because they often are directly mean to people that write in that style #and i just don't get it #my fav Mallo fanfiction is in first pov #Mel's pov and the way he sees things and proccess them is everything to me #my favourite books are in first pov #it just has a way to drag you into the story that 3rd pov can't mimic #and it's beautiful #i've seen some arguments against 1st pov #like 'but it feels like i am in it' #why would you think that? can't you separate your thoughts from the MC's? are you that egocentric?? #i think a lot of people also didn't go past that sterotype that every single story in 1st pov is like a weird wattpad fanfiction #so they don't even bother trying to read actual books in 1st pov #and their loss #cuz sad books in first pov are heartbreaking #it rips your chest open #take your heart out #and crushes it #leaving you on your knees #in a pool of blood #pretty dramatic #but that's how i felt when i was reading the story of this single woman that was going through a difficult pregnancy alone #and kept writing letters to her unborn child #and at the end #they both died #d.writing
