While Magus and Horus do look great I agree it's definitely frustrating that their first units are summer units rather than normal units.

their base art's also are just reskin of their actual talking sprite, which is something Granblue only does for outfits they don't want to actually make canon usually, this is beyond lazy and annoying

they deserved proper introduction to the crew, it's not like Halluel and Malluel who started out with their summer event while they had a summon AND were ALLIES in the previous events. And it was in relation with the Maydays not 000. (even if it is sad they started out as summer units).

here it's just a mess??? Those are anni units but they're summer? They were enemies so instead of seeing how they actually decided to stick around it's just immediately summer fun? And that's how they're introduced to the pool??

their uncap arts look pretty and i do like Magus, Horus sounds interesting but it's not like the anni really gave us a lot to work with and i assumed we should get starter units first to get to know them. But this is a terrible way to introduce them to the pool and such a sad way to celebrate the /10th anni/....

Twitter doesn't deserve Ladiva

they really do not.

This is so unfair because like. Granblue really do a lot of work with Ladiva to develop her in many complex stories and stuff, she's a beloved character who is always getting some focus and love, who is never the punchline of jokes because they care for her so much (i think there might have been jokes very early in her development but it hasn't happened in about a decade by now), who has a fantastic event about her having to learn she doesn't need to carry the burden of everyone around her and she needs to take care of herself, and people care about her because Ladiva makes people's lives better just by being in it, she's the one character who is defined by the fact people better themselves because they know Ladiva loves them, and as such, they love and give everything for her... while genuinely, genuinely, having her at the center of plotlines about "you're so loving and we love you for that but please we beg you don't set yourself on fire to keep other people warm, we can help you too, you don't need to carry all of our burdens, and we can help you carry yours, you're not our therapist friend, and while our lives are made better with your love, we're also your friends and here for you".

and despite all of that, despite almost 10 years of constant content about the fact Ladiva is both the most loving and the most beloved character in universe, people keep reducing her character to "rep bad because she doesn't feel dysmorphia."

Like i'm sorry but like, how is constantly reducing a trans character to being a good or bad trans rep to how they feel about their body or their design good when you ignore the actual stories this character go through?

and like, we have others trans character!! you want a trans woman who feels so dysphoric she gets panic attack when she's reminded of her previous body??? read Cagliostro's stories!! even though it rarely focus on her gender, this is something that is touched upon multiple times! and she's allowed to be cocky and arrogant and a bit selfish, and the narrative framing it like "and at the same time, she's right to be so because she IS the greatest genius of the skies".

Like. Yes be mindful of the way Granblue explore trans rep! if you want to really dig holes to a trans chara Granblue mishandled most of their history, look at Balurga! and even there his last event actually tried to undo some of the damages of his previous content!

but it feels so disgeniune to constantly, constantly, cONSTANTLY bringing down Ladiva on "but she doesn't change her body to be more traditionally feminine so she's bad rep" as if she wasn't a full fledged character with her own stories to tell on top of her transness.

And that since she's all about love, and self love, and self acceptance, without having to put expectations on yourself, and it's something she has a mentality for in every single aspect of her life so of course she also projects it on her gender..... like man. man!!!

Just pay your respect to her damnit!!

In a way, present day Sandalphon is a great foil to Lucilius, because he also doesn't get answers from the god-like figure he looks to, but Sandalphon knows that his creator loves him and loves him back

TRUUUUE.

Like i mean, Sandalphon and Lucilius were already foil because they were basically driven to madness by the fact they were clearly created by a higher being and they had no idea why, even more so learning later that their creator (Lucifer and Lucio) didn't even know why they were created (Lucifer didn't know Sandalphon's purpose/Lucio doesn't even know how he happened to have a clone). And both of them tried to destroy the world if only so that the absent figure they're blaming for their pain would pay attention to them.

but Sandalphon learnt he was loved, and that his creator would drop the whole world if he had to, if only Sandalphon could be happy. And being loved by the person he devoted himself to at least was enough for Sandalphon to try to figure out how to give this love back to the world around him, the world his beloved loved so much.

while Lucilius is still left on mute by Bahamut, and Lucio treated him more like a curious experiment than someone he could care about (credit where credit is due Lucio still was developping his people skills), and even there Lucilius was already too far gone anyway.

Sandalphon foils people in wmtsb in such a way because everyone who has huge impact on the story is craving for love and recognization or pure free will, and Sandalphon was the one who managed to reach that by being loved by his creator who freed him from all of his burdens, while the rest of the antagonist are left abandonned in some way, and while the Astrals have learnt to be self reliant it left the one primal who stayed behind even more starved for it than they could be.

anyway many thoughts but yeah the way Sandalphon foils Lucilius even more because they were much more similar than Lucilius was to Lucifer actually, which enrages Lucilius, but Sandalphon managed to move past that. Lucilius, meanwhile, is still stuck in this homeostasis he hates so much.

#alsooo actually many thoughts because technically if the tree is Bahamut>Lucio>Lucilius #then the other one is Lucilius>Lucifer>Sandalphon #and Lucilius treated Sandalphon with the coldness and lack of interest he would blame Bahamut for his own treatment #and while the absence of relationship between Lucilius and Lucio is what cause this whole thing to go wrong #Sandalphon has totally abandonned whatever the Original Creator would want of him as long as he had Lucifer's #but Lucilius doesn't even realize just how he treated Sandalphon the same way he's been treated in that sense #no self awareness whatsoever #playing god and reproducing the exact same mistakes #but Sandalphon transcending anything Lucilius could be because he's allowed to change while Lucilius is not. #anyway head full #ichareply #ichafantalks gbf #anonymous #ichablogging wmtsb
