#ok sorry but i still can't get over that family history story #been thinking about it all day #during apples to apples the words 'stunning' and 'fast' came up #and my brother joked 'our great-great-grandmother apparently' #and he's not wrong #from her pov the story's even wilder #she really just saw what she wanted and took her shot #knew him for three days #and then *she* proposed to *him* #during what was apparently their first private conversation *ever* #and it worked! #if you put that in historical fiction about the 1880s people would call it unrealistic #talking about the restrictions on women or whatever #well apparently nobody told her that she was oppressed #she was too busy seizing the life she wanted
