Bar owner: “All right, all right, calm down. Tonight’s scheduled band couldn’t make it--”

Crowd: “BOOOOOOO!” “Give us our money back!”

Bar owner: “--but don’t worry. I’ve called around a few mates of mine and sorted something out. Y’see, years ago when I opened this club, I had a young guy working behind the bar to earn a bit of cash while he set up his own band with his kid brother. He did kinda well for himself, ‘cause he found this singer who’s pretty fuckin’ good, and he said he’d see what they could do for us tonight at short notice,”

Crowd: “GET ON WITH IT!”

Bar owner: “Trust me, you ain’t gonna want your money back by the end of tonight.” *grins and gestures for the stage lights to come up*

Crowd: *JAWDROP*

(At this stage in the band’s career, this is the equivalent--famewise--of the seedy little dive bar on the corner managing to land a stealth gig by the Rolling Stones...)
