All set for the 2020 Grand Alumni Homecoming
The different committees for the CPU Grand Alumni Homecoming held a meeting on January 6 and 7, 2019 at the Alumni Affairs Office and Administration Building, respectively.
Security concerns and final preparations were discussed during the meeting. More than 700 alumni are expected to attend the event. These alumni will be coming from all parts of the world.
With the theme “Central Spirit Leads Us Back Home,” this year’s grand alumni homecoming will be the first to be held in the main campus since the CPU Centennial celebrations in 2005. Since then the Global Reunion was held in various cities all over the world.

The deadline for online registration will be on January 10, 2020. After this, you can still register offline by visiting the Alumni Affairs Office. There will also be an on-site registration on February 5, 2020, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.

CPU recognizes Service Awardees
Dr. Teodoro C. Robles thanked the awardees for their loyalty to Central Philippine University.
A virtual program to honor the Service Awardees of Central Philippine University was premiered on Facebook and Youtube last January 6, 2022, at 2:00 pm.
It was started by a praise and worship songs led by Rev. Roger Quimpo and followed by a devotional by Rev. Cris Amorsolo Sian, Senior Pastor of the University Church. Rev. Sian challenged the awardees, and everyone in the university to work for the glory of the Lord thru CPU.
CPU President Dr. Teodoro C. Robles, in his message, thanked the awardees for their loyalty to CPU, and for giving the best years of their lives in serving the constituents of CPU.

Centralian PNA Chief receives an award from DSWD
Centralians in Mass Media (CMM) active member and current Philippine News Agency, Antique Chief Annabel Consuelo Petinglay received the Award as 2021 Most Supportive Media Partner for Online Platform from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Petinglay is formerly Iloilo City’s PNA News Bureau Chief.
Petinglay always reached out to the Regional Information Officer for updates especially during the pandemic and any calamities. On the online and social media support, she was cited for always being supportive to all DSWD programs, services and outreach activities in Antique, particularly at the onset of COVID 19.
The award was given during the Monday Evening’s “Pasasalamat” at the Westown Hotel in Iloilo City. The DSWD also appreciated the support and good relationship of DSWD-6 with media in Western Visayas which includes Centralian Members of the Iloilo Press and Centralians in Mass Media organizations. DSWD OIC Emmanuel A. Leyco relayed his personal gratitude to media.
Regional Director Rebecca Geamala said that, “As long as there is DSWD, the Media will be our strong partner.” She added that the media not only drumbeat the programs and services of DSWD, particularly the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4P’s), but also relayed to the department the need of poor families.
Other media partners who were awarded by DSWD during the ceremony were PNA Iloilo and Antique News Bureaus.

CPU BS Biology students raise fund, conduct relief operation in Dumarao, Capiz
fund raising activity was organized by the graduating students of CPU BS Biology on April 13, 2022. The fund drive was to be used for the relief operation for typhoon affected students of Tinaytayan Elementary School in Dumarao, Capiz.
The affected students received food packs and hygiene kits. More than 100 food packs were also distributed to households in the area; thanks to students from Central Philippine University. Their enthusiasm and sympathy to the victims were lauded by the school community and the residents.
The successful outreach project was in cooperation with CPU Biological Society, Life Science Department; College of Arts and Sciences and the Community Engagement and Service Learning Center (CESLC). The organizers thanked the donors, faculty, alumni and sponsors for their support to the project.
Also present during the outreach were Life Science Head Dr. Nick Guanzon, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Stella G. Fernandez, CPU Biological Society Adviser Jayvee Jore, and CESLC Director Prof. Levi De Los Santos.

CPU dedicates Center for Christian Education
Central Philippine University held the dedication service of the Center for Christian Education of the University Church on November 21, 2021.
From its groundbreaking eight years ago, the Christian Education edifice has finally been erected beside the University Church.
In his words of inspiration, University President Teodoro C. Robles thanked the people “who made this project possible” and hoped that “the mission of this church continues and there will be full use of this facility in the service of the Lord.” On the other hand, Atty. Von Lovel D. Bedona, CPU Board of Trustees Chairman from 2017 to 2021 expressed his gratitude to God that this project has come to a realization and reminded everyone to maximize the use of the new building as a steward of God’s property and assets for His mission.
Led by the University Church Senior Pastor Rev. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, the Center for Christian Education was dedicated “for worship, prayers and praise for teaching young and olds and preaching of the everlasting gospel, for the comfort of all who mourn, strength to those who are tempted and light who seek the way.”
This two-storey building has for its function the chapel for mortuary, rooms for Sunday School, halls, among others. Furthermore, this aims to cater to different church auxiliary organizations in holding their events.
The University Church and the CPU, in general, recognized and expressed “deep appreciation for the donors, and its builders with gratitude to God.”
