* — TASK 004 ! COMPILATIONS .
struts in to the beat of an imaginary song with triple f’s trembling all over the shop to the bass. me again. honestly mack, once more, inspired this post by mentioning they were putting something like this together for one of their muses and i was just like, oh? that’s? literally so cool and fun? and thus the idea for our fourth task was born. a quick standing ovation of thanks summoned now. thank-you. you may now all resume in your seats. basically, i’m sure if you’ve got a muse blog or even a personal, you’ll have seen the compilation posts circulating lately. it’s a pretty big trend. typically they always have some sort of overrunning theme that ties all of the different components together and what better theme to explore than one of your muses?
below you can find a further explanation for the kinds of things you might want to include if you haven’t seen any of these compilation posts, as well as some linked examples. as always, every task is optional, merely provided as a prompt to explore your muse and help everyone get to know them a little better. honestly, i’m really excited for this one and can’t wait to dive in headfirst where my own muses are concerned, but i’d really love to see them for other muses’, too. picture me nibbling at the air like a hungry little guinea pig on a buttercup in anticipation. that said, if you feel like participating in this task, make sure that when you post it, you tag #IRVINGTASK004.
there’s quite a range of things i’ve seen included in posts like these, really. typically, they tend to involve quote screenshots, lyric snippets, paintings, photography, screenshotted posts and screencaps. you can find a few examples here, here, here and here. they can be however big or small you’d like, depending on what you’re feeling. honestly, it doesn’t have to be specific to just your muse, either. you can take this task any way you’d like to. maybe you feel like exploring a particular aspect of your muse’s psyche. maybe you feel like dedicating a compilation to a connection your muse has within the group. maybe even just a dynamic with an npc in their life. feel free to get creative with it and make however many you want! i can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

* — TASK 002 ! NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTERS .
for our second task, we thought it could be a fun idea to explore the non-playable characters in your muses lives - be it a relative, friend, ex, pet or even just an eccentric mailman they had growing up that always shot them finger guns once the package was delivered. the people in your muses’ lives shaped them into who they are today, so it’s a really interesting way to explore their psyche and make their world that much more fleshed out. did this person have a longstanding impact on your muse’s life? were they a positive or negative influence? do they share any similar qualities? it’s a nice way to unlock a little more backstory.
tasks aren’t mandatory, but we’d really love to learn more about all of your muses so we hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity! feel free to just post about one npc in your muse’s life, however everyone’s more than welcome to post multiple if that’s what you feel like doing. we’ve provided a vague template and some questions under the cut to give inspiration as to what you might want to include, but you’re welcome to structure this task however you’d like - we don’t want to shackle anyone’s creativity. a small paragraph is fine. questionnaire format is fine. google docs are also fine. the world’s your oyster! when you’ve completed this task, please tag it as #IRVINGTASK002.
MEET THE NPC: NAME GOES HERE.
1. how old are they and what do they look like?
2. if applicable, where and when did they meet your muse?
3. what kind of a presence do they have in your muse’s life? do they have a positive or negative relationship?
4. are they revered in irving? do they have bad blood with anyone?
5. if your muse is no longer in contact with them, how did the relationship end? did your muse get closure over this?

* — TASK 003 ! THIS OR THAT .
clicks onto the dash in a pair of kitten heels holding my bang. hi everyone! i’d like to credit mack as the mastermind and inspiration behind this task. their brain? luscious, bountiful, juicy and steeped in infinite wisdom like a tasty little tea bag. let’s all take a moment to rise from our seats and toss roses on stage as they deserve. thank you. okay! so. this task is going to be focusing on one of your muse’s secrets. it can either be a secret they’ve kept in the past or something ongoing in the present, it’s completely up to you, but we want to learn more! we figured it’s a great way to either expand upon lore in your character’s background or set up potential drama and plots within the group. the world’s our oyster.
below you can explore the different options we’ve offered where format for this task is concerned. remember, tasks are always completely optional -- you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to! that said, we’d really love to find out more about what everyones muses are hiding. what makes them tick? it’s a fun little exercise to build on character development. if you feel like participating, take a look beneath the cut to find out more! and remember, when you post the task, make sure to tag #IRVINGTASK003.
CHOICE 01 —— WRITING
if you’d rather explore your muses secret through writing, you can do anything from a self-para, to a page on their blog detailing the entirety of their secret, a closed thread with another muse, or anything you can think of in-between! it can be them mulling over what they’re hiding, the lengths they’ve taken to keep it hidden, the toll it’s taken on them to hide it, them revealing part or all of their secret to another person, or someone accidentally finding out –- possibly even exposing them. these are all just ideas, of course -- whatever you choose to do, if you’re in the mood to write, this is the choice for you!
CHOICE 02 —— NON-WRITING
the non-writing task is pretty self-explanatory -- you can create something for your muse revolving around their secret, except with little to no writing involved. this could be a playlist, a moodboard, or if you’re photoshop-savvy, a character graphic representing the secret. the only parameter for this one is that you write as little as possible and explore aspects of your muse’s secret that you can’t describe in words.
