I mean I had guessed who would be in dire straits at the end of stranger things 4, but being prepared for seeing all that doesn’t mean I’m any less bitter about it
#I’m……. why#you know? i well like the writing and the plot took a dive in the last like four episodes#(which is not to say it was ever great to begin with)#stranger things spoilers#loptrcoptr watches stranger things#ok spoilers tho? I’m like… why didn’t any of the adults die#where are Murray and yuri and Antonov anyway ffs stop dropping all the eggs they’re supposed to be in the basket#but I kind of thought that hot e was going to die simply because a) killing hopper after killing hopper wouldn’t fly well and b) dying#by demodog like bob did would actually be thematically on point#but no! all the adults live and the children get maimed!#now I can’t remember Eddie’s actors name but I know he’s around my age so technically not killing a kid#max however??? that shot was traumatic. i don’t even care if she comes out of it eventually watching that severed a huge amount of affection#that I had for the show (which by now was mostly nostalgic lbr season one was good shit)#it felt tawdry to me that robin is talking to Vickie about peanut butter and boyfriends#while Dustin is tearfully telling Eddie’s uncle that Eddie is gone… twenty feet away in the same room#i know that was the point of that scene (great job on gaten’s((is that his name?)) part#but if all felt so objectively hollow— none of the core cast have been maimed or injured#so any attempt to make this all seem like it has gravitas or a grimdark weight looming….#it doesn’t work because none of the crew got hit but max lol#and they have never really treated her character like she’s fully part of the gang anyway#why not break elevens arms? she was right there. would’ve fucked us all up#if she was in a coma the emotional stakes for the final season would be higher and feel like they had weight#we could’ve had a hopper at her hospita bed promising her breakfast for dinner forever if she’d just open her eyes#but noooo real stakes shit is not a thing for this show#which is just a reminder that it was all about the feeling– the aesthetic and the nostalgia– to begin with#you ever seen the porch folder thing? it’s like. 90% vibes and pics from#famous 80s sci-fi and horror films. it just is obvious that the stakes were never high yknow!#also… didn’t they Jack the montauk idea and plot and shit from some other writer in he first place?
