248. In The Mouth Of Madness (1994) -- a rewatch

#in the mouth of madness #in the mouth of madness (2023) #2023filmgifs #my gifs #this is a writer's film #specifically for writers of fiction #it is a goddamned glorious delight and celebration of our lunacy #and of Lovecraft and Stephen King and even a bit of MR James #i've seen it twice before #but both before i read any of those writers #and before i got into John Carpenter's films #or did i rewatch it when i did? #anyway i don't think i got it either of those times #this time i was cackling with delight from the start #especially with that use of The Carpenters oh my god #even though i love them sincerely and without irony #but that was hilarious #and yes the seventh gif made me yell #'NOOO SAM NEILL DON'T GO INTO THE EVENT HORIZONNNN' #which came out three years after this #the nineties really were an incredible decade for him #ugh this was so beautifully filmed #and the print was so lovely #i love Carpenter so much #and this totally proved my love of him #terrible female lead though #her acting was atrocious #but luckily we have Sam Neill that utter treasure from NZ #epilepsy warning #tw: epilepsy
