How would Emmet's react if Nobori's parents took him on a brief vacation to Unova, maybe for some research stuff, when he was like a baby-5 age range where he didn't have a lot of memories yet and chandelure just immediately clings to him when him and his parents are passing through gear station. Imagine if he manages to stay in Nobori's life and makes peace with him not remembering him only for Nobori to suddenly pull out an embarrassing childhood story about Emmet out of the blue years later.
Alice and Koji are in Unova to investigate Yamask and Elgyem respectively, when they decide to take a side trip to Nimbasa City to ride the ferris wheel and visit Gear Station. Their little five year old bundle of joy absolutely loves trains and they need to make this trip fun for him too!
Emmet has just gotten off the Doubles Line after a verrry fun battle. Chandelure is looking a little worse for wear, but she won't got into her Pokeball for some reason, and as soon as the train doors open, she just darts off. He feels a surge of hope bubble up in his chest and follows her, only to find that she's approached a random family, and is happily rubbing her glass dome against their young son's face. He feels all that hope go out of him in a rush, and hurries over to apologize and reassure them that Chandelure is harmless.
His words die in his throat when he sees the boy's eyes. Nobori doesn't cry this time- he's too young to process even the vague feelings at this point. He's not scared of Chandelure at all, of course! She's very friendly! And the man in white that comes to claim her looks like he's dressed as a Subway Boss, which is only the coolest job ever. But when he asks him if he is one with a sparkle in his eyes and an excited frown on his face, the man looks... suddenly very sad?
Emmet had always held out hope that his brother would be found alive, that he was still out there somewhere... but with the way Chandelure made a beeline for the boy, and those eyes... it suddenly hits him at all once that Ingo is dead. His brother is gone. And somehow... somehow he was born all over again, only this time he doesn't seem to recognize him. It feels verrry cruel, but it is not the little boy that used to be his brother's fault.
He pulls himself together quickly, but not quickly enough- the boy's parents are giving him an odd look. But before he can say anything, the mother just sort of reaches out and tilts his head, looking at his eyes. He can't even protest the violation of his personal space, it's so sudden.
"Oh," she says, "-you were family, weren't you?"
(and that's how Emmet ends up dragged into this new family of his brother's second life. He's very happy to still be in it, even though he doesn't really expect his brother to ever remember him. And then, when he least expects it, Nobori just tells him about one of the most embarrassing events from his and Ingo's childhood, before running off. And wow! He's glad that there's hope after all!
BUT WHY THAT MEMORY????)
