Society if the GA understood that Stranger Things is actually a show and was written a certain way on purpose and that it could've very easily been written a different way to evoke different thoughts and emotions but it didn't??
Tumblr media
Like that would be society if the GA understood that Mike and El's relationship is bad on purpose and that Mike and Will are like That on purpose

Hmm I think it would be interesting for the show to force Will to interact and face Lonnie. Will is someone who never wants to face anything, he doesnt even resent Lonnie for what he did to him. He tried to even get Lonnie like him by trying to do things Lonnie wanted to. Jonathan, as we know, at least stood up to Lonnie but Will is just.... I think he still loves Lonnie despite his actions :/. That is why I find the possibility of show pushing Will to face Lonnie interesting imho but it would further Will's arc. That is also one of the reasons why I want him to stand up for himself against Vecna instead of being tempted by him/or being Vecna's victim again.
Hi anon!
Okay firstly, Will is not someone who "never wants to face anything". He's not passive. He confronts Mike in S3 which leads to the infamous rain fight, he confronts El about lying to Mike in S4, he confronts Mike for being a bad friend at Rink-O-Mania. He literally turned around to face the Mindflayer and told it to "go away" rather than running. He's accepted his feelings for Mike which is a difficult thing to do, he talks openly about his Upside Down related fears to Mike in seasons 2 and 4. Will faces things, difficult things, regularly.
Secondly, the scene you're referring to where Will is trying to get Lonnie to like him is from S1. Not only is it from S1, but it's Jonathan's flashback, so it actually took place before S1. My point being, Will was young. It's normal for young kids not to understand or recognize their parent's flaws and still seek their approval. As they grow and mature they usually gain a better understanding of the situation and their perspective shifts.
(Also, that very scene we see Jonathan telling Will that he shouldn't care what Lonnie thinks. I believe Will would've taken Jonathan's words to heart, because from what we've seen, he usually does. So I'd even consider this evidence that Will probably doesn't crave Lonnie's approval anymore.)
Look. It isn't as easy as flipping off a switch in your brain and suddenly you don't love your dad anymore or crave his approval. It's entirely possible that Will still does. However, we haven't been given any evidence that he still feels this way. It's not a narrative the Duffers have been building. We haven't seen Will talk about Lonnie at all since then. So bringing Lonnie back would feel out of left field.
I personally don't think bringing Lonnie back as anything other than a Vecna vision would be a good move. But I totally respect your opinion! And if the Duffers do it and execute it well I'll eat my words.
