HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOUIS!

Louis turned 28 today! Sounds fake on so many levels but it's TRUE! We're truly living in the future y'all, we made it. He has a huge year ahead and how fitting that it's his 28th! I can't wait to see what kind of surprises are in store. He tweeted thanks for bday wishes and happy Xmas tomorrow in advance and was with his family. Jordan Green blessed us with two pics of Louis, one taken by a mysterious figure in the mirror whose outfit has been compared to a recent one of Harry's, and we got a present: fan favorite Defenceless (it's me. I'm the fan whose favorite it is) was officially registered. We already got the news that it was on the album but after the terrible scare of being told it wasn't going to be every scrap of reassurance is appreciated. Charlie Lightening captions a Louis post "looking forward to the year ahead" for the second time recently, so it looks like we can expect more collaboration there even though the three video series is supposedly finished.

Liam won the Christmas greetings game, posting "Merry Christmas ya filthy animals" in a Santa hat, and also a behind the scenes of the Christmas song video. This opens with some pretty good advice from Liam! He talks about how much pressure there is to be happy at Christmas when in fact it's one of the most tense times of year with all the expectations and says it's okay to just make it through and not live up to that expectation. Good call Liam! Thank you! And he has something new out: a perfume! He and Stella Maxwell are the faces of 'Hugo Now.' My past got me here. My future is yet to come. My time is now! is the campaign slogan which is a lot of philosophy for a perfume to take on but kind of inspiring I suppose? At least in writing, the actual ads that were posted go by much too quickly for any philosophising.

Harry recorded sweet and sincere Christmas wishes for the BBC, reminding us to TPWK over the holidays and think of the Lonely and maybe invite them over for Christmas dinner. If he referenced any other Fine Line songs in the message I missed it, lemme know. He also tweeted wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas time (hey there's another song reference!!) and thank you for all the support this year, I love you.

We got more pictures from the children's hospital in Atlanta of Niall being cute with the kids, and he sent holiday wishes (Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!! Enjoy x) and suggested we buy NTMY tour tickets.

Module 7 collaboration blog post!

Modern Encryption Standards

Cipher text 1 & 5: These two both have to be an ECB, we noticed that if we put in two identical 16 bit blocks, the output would result in two identical hashes. This is due to the fact that ECB does not use previously encrypted data to increase confusion.

Cipher text 2: For this one, we noticed that, unlike the other ciphers, no. 2 increased in length with the plain text. We realized that for however many characters we had in plain text, there were double that in the cipher text. This implies that it must be a CTR encryption method, that uses an incrementing counter combined nonce which is used to encrypt one character at a time.

Cipher text 3 & 4: For these two, we can conclude that they are using CBC as consecutive blocks are not identical to their previous blocks due to the previous block being used to encrypt rather than the same key being used each time.

Attack:

Sarah isn’t very clued on Security wise, she sent back the Facebook credentials with our first attempt.

Getting the payment made was a little bit harder. David is a pretty simple minded man, so we found the best approach was to not use long sentences and just get straight to the point.

So it looks like David is strange kind of ‘human’ that will pay money if you include the key words “david” “payment” and “urgent”.

Knowledge Based Authentication

This game was actually pretty fun... And kinda hard as well. Louis started as the ‘attacker’ and asked me questions and I tried to guess when he asked me a Phishing question. The game went like this:

A: What is your proudest accomplishment? - I jumped the gun a bit here and immediately guessed this was a phishing question, and so lost on the first question. In hindsight this isn’t a ‘malicious’ question as a proudest moment normally wont be a single word answer, in most cases the answer to this question will involve some kind of story. So it doesn’t make sense for this to be a knowledge based authentication question. Yet in my defense, it could lead to the attack gaining information about you.

A: What’s the best single day on the calendar? - I proved I’m not very good at this game when I said this was also a phishing question... It’s not. It looks like it is, as often people use birthdays included in their passwords. Had Louis asked “what is your date of birth?” this may have been a phishing question.

A: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? - Thinking I had the hung of things, and not wanting to loose again, I guessed this was NOT a phishing question and told Louis that I wanted to be a fire fighter when I grew up. Thinking about it now, this was some crucial information I just gave and defiantly could be asked during knowledge based authentication.

Which! Now I tried to redeem myself and see if I could trick Louis into answering some phishing questions.

A: What is something that is considered a luxury, that you don’t think you could live without? - I started with a safe question to gain some trust before I started trying to get some useful information. Louis wasn’t suspicious of this one and answered the question to no consequences.

A: Where is the most interesting place you’ve been? - I hoped this one would fool Louis. We often use important locations in passwords, and some message authentication questions ask things along the lines of “Where was your first holiday?” (Looking at you CentreLink). However, Louis answered this with no consequences. The word interesting isn’t specific enough and isn’t likely to be used in a knowledge based authentication question.

A: What was the make and model of the car you learnt to drive in? - CentreLinks questions are appearing twice in this post now, this one is an obvious phishing question. So I started with a warm up question “do you drive?”, which Louis answered and told me that yes he did. Thinking I had gained his trust I then replied with “Oh cool, what car do you drive?”. But to no avail, Louis saw through my attempt and called out this question.

A: What city or town were you born? - Another malicious question, and I’m sure most of you can remember being asked something similar, maybe like “which country did you grow up?”, so Louis didn’t fall for this one either.

So it’s pretty clear that I’m not the best at getting OR protecting my information. Defiantly something to practice!! GG Louis.

KARD fanmeet in Chicago summary

I need to get this in writing but I don’t have wifi meaning I can’t use my computer which is a little annoying but oh well

This post is SO SO SO long, if you’re on mobile and the cut doesn’t show up I APOLOGIZE OMG from the bottom of my heart

Okay I arrived at the venue around 3:15 and met some people from the Facebook group. There were only like 30 people there so it was really chill. Then the SubK lady started getting people to do a sing along video. She asked if anyone knew BM’s rap to Don’t Recall and everyone was shy so I jumped in and rapped so she was like “omg yes you should be front and center for this bit” so hopefully they keep that in the vid because damn I wanna be front and center

We passed out fanchants, I got my merch, people were dancing out front, I made some friends, it was a good time. Doors opened, we rushed inside. One of the friends I made, N, was selected (inside) to go on stage during the “games” portion of the meet. Me and her and her sister H died a little bit.

Anyway 7:30, fanmeet starts, they come out and perform Rumor and Don’t Recall (Hidden). It’s lit. Q&A - here’s where shit gets good. They were asked some stuff, like “which music artists have influenced you personally?” I didn’t hear what J.seph said, Jiwoo said Beyoncé and Rihanna, somin said Tinashe and Ariana Grande, and BM. BM said, “lyrically? I’d have to say J.Cole. Performance wise? I’d have to say Jay Park (cue screaming). Most of all? I’d have to say J.seph” we died. Straight up on the spot. Also, they all said their first impression of BM. Somin said he was cute like mochi. Jiwoo said she met him on his birthday and she felt like his bday present. Jseph said when they first met BM was wearing a Chicago Bulls tank top.

Unit performances. FUCKING LIT. Beforehand, BM apologized so much about the misunderstanding in Vancouver (PM me for deets). It was so so so sweet.

Then the games segment. MY FRIEND N GOT JIWOO TO RECORD HER A WAKE UP CALL/SERENADE, and then she sENT THE AUDIO TO ME omg what a lucky girl holy shit. Random dance play. BM got called out and did a sexy dance and fLASHED HIS ABS GOOD LORD. THIS BOY. STOP THAT.

More performances. SO GOOD. oh my god. Screamed myself hoarse. They’re sO TALENTED I SCREM. End of the concert, BM’s like “alright everyone get in the center, we’re gonna have SubK take a group photo of us” so I elbow my way to the front, close to center, get some ridiculously HQ photos of BM because he’s 10 FEET AWAY. CHRIST. group photo taken, I love this group so much. He wore his Chicago Bulls tank for the encore. His arms. His body. His biceps are bigger than my head. Oh my god.

Other happenings: I shouted “BM stands for Beautiful Man” and also “Chicago loves KARD” during quieter times and got the whole crowd to cheer with me. Also “BM I love you” and “Danny get outta the way” when Danny(MC) was in the way. Danny got out of the way lol. Also both of the following are things I was told today: “You look like an unsupervised eighth grader” “Oh my god I thought you were one of KARD’s managers because you looked so official and mature”.

Jiwoo and Jseph both apologized for the Vancouver misunderstanding. They are the absolute sweetest. They did Don’t Recall (Korean) and then BM said “that wasn’t enough, right? Y'all want another encore?” So they did Rumor and stole fans’ phones and danced around and generally seemed to have fun.

THERE WERE SO MANY JSEPH STANS. For some reason my assumption was the Jseph was the least stanned member of KARD, or at least not as stanned as BM and Jiwoo, but like. THE WHOLE THEATER was fucking SCREAMING for Jseph. He got the loudest cheers by far.

THEN. CHRIST. THEN THE GROUP PHOTO AT THE END. I get in line. Talk to people etc etc 10 people called on stage. I squeeze my way between two girls so I can stand behind BM. “BM, will you dab for one of the photos?” “Hell yeah, if you dab with me” “OMG of course, yeah, oh my gosh thank you so much” “alright this first photo, we’re all gonna dab it out. Y'all ready?” 3, 2, 1, BM dabs with his right arm, so do I, so does the girl next to me. Next photo, BM dabs with his left arm, I’m grinning like mad to hide the fact that I’m dying inside. They start shepherding us off, I take a second, put my hand on BM’s (ROCK SOLID) bicep, then pause and kind of give him a one-armed side hug because that’s less weird, and babble omfg “thank you so much oh my god you’re so wonderful I love you so much thank you I love you a lot” etc etc as I’m being pushed off the stage. Get off the stage, realize HOLY SHIT BM TALKED TO ME. BM DABBED WITH ME. When he turned around, I stopped breathing. He looked at me. He was 6 fucking inches away from me. Oh my god. He’s beautiful. Breathtaking. I’m in awe. Still can’t breathe 90 minutes later. That photo will be on the SubK Ent Facebook page omg

After the concert, N messages me, says some fans are waiting out back to see KARD off from the venue. I head there. We hang around for a while. The managers come out, are obviously a little exasperated by the fans’ antics. One of them takes pity, tells us they’re eating deep dish pizza, tells us they’re tired. Eventually KARD comes out. BM first, then Somin, then Jiwoo and Jseph. Jiwoo and Jseph are laughing and playing around. Jiwoo recognizes N, stops and waves at her, laughs and smiles a bit with Jseph. They get in the car and drive away.

I’m dead. I’m really dead. I also feel kind of bad about asking BM to dab with me bc I was so starstruck I couldn’t think of anything else to say, so I’m gonna send him fan mail apologizing and telling him that I think he’s wonderful and that I admire him a lot and I hope he’s happy and healthy and that KARD continues to receive the love and support they deserve. I am so shook. I can’t believe I saw them up close and personal or that I was right next to BM and I just. Am shookt ™
