last night while doordashing there was a lady who ordered nearly 200 chicken wings, all packed in a big box. she'd tipped really well to begin with but when i was taking a while to get to her door, she came out to meet me, n found me taking a break having put the box down to catch my breath because i am incredibly out-of-shape & said box was Heavy As Fuck. i was Mortified and apologized repeatedly (through slight wheezes) and her response was to go "OH NO I'M SO SORRY.... IT IS SO HEAVY" and then INCREASE the tip and go "please have a lovely rest of your night" and bring it the rest of the way to her place herself

#it's always the people who live in the smallest cheapest apartments who are the sweetest and tip the best too #not really surprising given working class solidarity but it astounds me. no-tip orders r almost exclusively in rich single housing suburbs #i've been trying to figure out what the wings were for #may have been ordering all her food for herself or kids for the week at once (doordash is pretty good for this) #may be a teacher or hosting a party or have a potluck at work #but she was SO NICE. WHILE I WAS SO EMBARRASSED #delivery antics
