⸻ one of these days , the architect might be spared of the scrutiny under his roommate. it was a tendency , that kaveh acknowledged and respected ( to an extent ) , but sometimes it would be overstepping. after all , everyone had secrets — even scholars , and yet , alhaitham is determined to deprive the artisan of his stockpile.

he tousles his hair , fidgeting with fibres of sunlight , as he attempts to muster a response that might pass under the radar of the scribe. whose eyes seem to resemble the likes of machinery rather than the living. ❝ oh , i have plenty to say on a daily basis. but , only now , you care to bring it up ? ah , that’s just like you , alhaitham. choosing to discuss things only when you deem it fit ! ❞ he lets more than he intended to slip past reddened lips , vexed from his conjured frustrations.

he can only hope that it is enough to deter the scholar from prying any further.

but his reprimand does not cease there , for he solidifies his point in the redirection towards his awaiting project. and should the bothersome disturb him further , he bares his back to him , displaying his disinclination more than his words could ever convey.
