On March 8, 2020, ASATA members joined members of many other organizations in Fruitvale Plaza to take a stand for the rights of working women around the globe. This internationalist demonstration featured speakers discussing immigrant rights, ending detention and deportation of undocumented people, and standing up for trans women and sex workers. The demonstration then marched through Fruitvale, stopping along the way for speeches.
This demonstration was a great opportunity for ASATA to join in solidarity with other feminist organizations, many of whom are also part of Third World Resistance. The working-class feminist politics that we and others spoke to at IWWD have always been part of ASATA’s history. We’re excited to carry forward this tradition of intersectional feminism alongside our coalition partners!
