para acompañar este retrato de Joan Jett, a quien nunca he seguido apasionadamente, me apetecía reflexionar sobre los referentes y su importancia. ayer, hablando con una amiga, recordé cuando era más pequeña y quería ser guay. es decir, no como una chica, si no guay de verdad.

yo sé qué pasó en mi propia infancia y juventud, pero muchas chicas quizá tuvieron una vida más… ¿convencional? y han sentido lo mismo en algún momento.

🤘 los referentes femeninos no han abundado en mi historia personal. ni en la realidad ni en la ficción. cuando aparecían me quedaba perpleja. pero, desde luego, tenían bien afianzadas sus características masculinas: Xena, Ripley, Connor… y cuando conoces alguna historia turbia, como la de las realidades detrás del escaparate de The Runaways, te dan escalofríos y vergüenza de la industria que te ha dado esa música que tanto admiras y que tanto alivio te ha proporcionado en la vida. 🎸

pero, dime: ¿quiénes son tus referentes? ¿qué inspiración encuentras en sus historias? ¿realmente necesitamos modelos a seguir?

y, sobre todo, ¿qué te parece este retrato? 🥹😂

to accompany this portrait of Joan Jett, whom I've never ardently followed, I felt like reflecting on role models and their significance. yesterday, while chatting with a friend, I recalled when I was younger and yearned to be cool – not just as a girl, but genuinely cool. 🤘

I know what ocurred in my own childhood and youth, but many girls might have led more... conventional? lives, and at some point, felt the same way.

female role models haven't been plentiful in my personal history. Not in reality or fiction. When they did appear, they left me astonished. but surely, they had their masculine traits firmly established: Xena, Ripley, Connor... and when you encounter a murky story, like the realities behind the façade of The Runaways, it sends shivers down your spine and leaves you ashamed of the industry that gave you that music you admire so much, the music that provided so much solace in life. 🎸

but tell me, who are your role models? what inspiration do you find in their stories? do we truly need figures to emulate?

and above all, what do you think of this portrait? 🥹😂
