"I hope this eggnog is non-alcoholic." Although he wouldn't really care if there was a little bit of rum in it. Even though he did have to teach at NYU the next morning.

"You're Juni's friend."
Juniper, small town girl — or, rather, girl raised in a scientific research and experimentation facility — meets a famous billionaire and won't shut the fuck up about it at family dinner. Spirit feels vaguely disdainful.
Now, at Juniper's place of work, she recognizes him almost immediately. It's the wealth that oozes from him smoothly, the watch, the fabric material of his clothes.
"I'm her sister. You're her sugar daddy, now, right?"

The court proceedings about election night were rough but Jeryd decided it was pointless to wallow and needed to be on the offensive, to fight for his position ready for the next no matter how far in the future. From what he thought, he might not be the only wanting to reclaim something, to fight. "So," he says when he sees @k4ndall , "how about we take back the country and save it from the Jiminez mess. Get our narrative straight and make sure those assholes don't twist what happened on election night or are the mighty Roy family still licking their wounds and infighting?"

“what the trauma dumping?” gillian teased with a nod of her head. one of the most popular questions she got from people. “sort of have to leave it in the room. that’s what the notes on each couple or for. quick refresher before each session. it’s impossible to take all of it home. then i would be the one on the couch.”
“which actually isn’t as uncommon as it sounds. i know a few therapists who have therapists of their own.” hands on her hips, “you seem like the type that doesn’t believe in it.”

' okay, i think we definitely fucked something up. everyone else's looks so normal. ' she had some experience with cooking, but that was usually from a box or a jar and not from scratch like this class entailed. but stepping outside of her comfort zone meant sometimes looking like an idiot in front of people she didn't know, something she'd just have to get used to.
' i don't think the dough is supposed to be this gooey. ' she whispered, doing her best to knead it like everyone else was doing so easily.

@k4ndall asked: have you ever had a catchphrase?
ㅤThis is the most threatening thing anyone has ever said to her. She knows what the commentators say, and that with a name like Penny Power, she is positively tempting them to come up with some silly thing to say every time she does something good. It's all jokes, of course. But now that is some Penny power! irritates her like a bad primary school nickname.
ㅤ“ Not one I've picked for myself, no. ” The slightest hint of a smile is pulling at the edge of her lips, never too far from breaking out across her face properly. Where is he going with this? “ Why, do you think I need one? ”

"Mm, I don't know if that's still true. Eat the rich and all that." There wasn't a trace of resentment in her tone. She was not one of those who had worked hard for what she had, there was nothing to resent. She, like Kendall, had been born with a silver spoon in her mouth. It was harder to be defensive of a stockpile you didn't personally build, just inherit. No, it was those wonderfully clever hard-working people she felt sorry for, who became too successful to be relatable. Maybe their silk sheets helped.
The careful words about his parents make her genuinely laugh. Cee and her own siblings never knew the weight of parental problems. If their mother had lived, she would have been an avid supporter of whatever her children chose to put their minds to. If her mother had lived, Cee thought, her father might have been better too.
"That depends," she considers, "are you Odysseus?"
Cee glances behind Kendall and then gestures towards the restaurant doors. "Are you free for lunch? I'd like to know more about your Greek epic."

⸻ ❛ “i’ve heard of it.” had she? the name sounded familiar. after looking at two dozen schools in their district over the past week, they were all starting to run together. “a tennis court on the roof. jesus.” rava muttered and smiled a little even though the coed part made her a bit weary. looking down at her phone, “yeah, this looks interesting. definitely worthy of the strongly consider pile.”

// I really like reading your stuff and getting to meet your various characters. I would say that the one thing that I really enjoy about your portrayal is how you use first person POV. Normally, people use third person because we get a better view of the character’s surroundings, but I like the way that you use first person to show us their actual thoughts. It’s really a revelation when a character that can seem two dimensional suddenly acquires a mind of their own and we can look into their thoughts and try to understand as well as empathize. You’re a great writer! Keep up the great work!
@k4ndall : how's my portrayal?, accepting.
i am actually going to sob about this!?!?! especially because i am new to using first person pov. i agree! i love first person because it's so fun to look inwards on what's going on in a characters noggin. it's increased my motivation to write a lot! aaaa i'm just! this is so sweet thank you.

send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion / @k4ndall / accepting !!
sometimes i think the rpc puts too much weight on fancy formatting for replies. like, if you enjoy doing fun formatting and switching things up go for it !! i don't think it's important to the actual content though. some beautiful writing is done with formatting, and some beautiful writing is doing without it. formatting does not mean you're a great writer and it shouldn't be forced on the rpc. also, sometimes it's so hard to read. people with vision problems can really struggle to make sense of it all.

@k4ndall sent: ❛ i have a spare ticket, you wanna come in with me ? ❜ - for Kinsey
' oh, that's-- ' she couldn't help but make a noise of shock and surprise, the sound still trapped in her throat as she tried to think of how to respond. it wasn't like she hadn't been to big, exclusive events before, but to do so on a whim, still wearing what she had been on the street ( which was impeccable, but was also undeniably business formal ) was admittedly new for her.
' you really don't need to do that. i'm not even dressed for the occasion. ' a nervous laugh left her lips as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
