God it's about Hajime saying repeatedly over and over again that he's comfortable in the form he's in now, and to not call him Joker, and how he doesn't want to go back to that form again. And it's about everyone else only seeing him As Joker once that truth comes out, once it's revealed who's behind the human form, whether because they want to use him or kill him.

And then it's about Kenzaki, who has seen firsthand how Hajime living among the humans has begun to soften his edges, and how he loves Amane and Haruka so much, has adopted them as his own family, and how Hajime has gone out of his way to protect people he didn't even know, or people who threatened him even. And Kenzaki says "To me, you are Hajime Aikawa. You're human." And thats all it is. He respects Hajime's chosen identity, and arguably loves him for it, and is willing to stand in front of Tachibana's gun to shield him from harm. He isn't afraid to take a stance in Hajime's favor even if it could get him killed because unlike everyone else, he respects who Hajime says he is and never stops caring about his wellbeing even once he knows the truth.

If anything, he cares even More for Hajime once he knows the truth. And that's what really speaks volumes for the two of them.

Hajime has experienced so many humans being scared of him or reacting violently towards him even after he’s helped them or saved their lives, and then here comes Kenzaki, who he hasn’t done ANYTHING for and has repeatedly fought with him and both have threatened each other, just. Seeing him almost dying and picking him up and taking him somewhere safe out of the goodness of his own heart because he cares. Because Kenzaki already sees Hajime differently than everyone else does. And Hajime genuinely doesn’t know what to do with someone treating him this kindly especially when he’s this vulnerable.

I think what really kills me is like. There's so many turns where Hajime is just. Ready to accept his fate as "I either have to be sealed or the world will end because of something I don't even want to be." He might not be Willing about it, but he's tried to accept it.

It's Kenzaki, consistantly, who looks in the face of not His, but Hajime's fate, and says "No. We're getting you out of this. I believe that we can, so we will."

I didn't take a bunch of screencaps during this whole bit cause I was just Watching it happen but I am really glad we finally got some focus on Shiori in Blade. Like shes been tied up in all of this from the very beginning, basically having an extended grief period and extremely conflicted feelings over her father because she wasnt even sure if he Was dead, but she knew he was responsible for releasing the Undead. And so that brings into question "well if he is still alive, do I forgive him? Do I even want to see him?"

And of course when that time comes, the answer is complicated. The dad she knew and loved is dead, long gone and has left in his wake an experimental being that has his memories and his drive and purpose to keep going, but its not him. And she tells Kenzaki and Tachibana to kill him once she finds out because god thats such a betrayal to her. She never asked for any of this, never Wanted it, and shes sure her mother never would have either, not at this cost.

And yet. In this beings last moments, while wearing her dads face. She still sits with him. He still blocked her from a killing blow. Some part of her dad survived in there enough to make that choice. And she does what she can to say goodbye to that, to finally get that closure shes deserved this whole time.

Its just. Its so fucked up man. So much of Blade's story Starts with a grief that wont end and one mans want to never have to experience that again, and in the end all it leads to is others grieving their loses to the very things he unleashed, and to his daughter losing the only parent she had left. She inherits that grief on her own now, with the others shes formed a new family with to help shoulder it. It fucks me up.
