could i ask about your policies for binding and fan art! and how would you recommend splitting up the book binds - one book per bind, two books per bind, etc. would love to hear from ya ๐Ÿ’–
Thank you for asking! Fanart: yes, totally, and please give me a nudge so I can see it/promote it!
Binding: go for it! I appreciate the thoughtfulness of people asking, but you can absolutely go ahead and do whatever the hell you want with the text of my fic. Print it, paint it, burn it, bind it, turn it into blackout poetry. Transformative art is human nature. My only request is that if you sell bound fic, please be as careful and discreet as you can โ€” you know the drill.
Breaking it up depends on how long you like your books. Book 1 and 2 together are about the length of Book 3, and all three are about the same length as Book 4. To minimize work, I would recommend binding 1 and 2 together โ€” they're short enough that it works better, unless you really want the "seven books seven volumes" look โ€”ย and maybe 3 as well, if you want the volume to look symmetrical standing beside Books 4, 5, and 6. So Option 1 is: [1-2-3] [4] [5] [6] [7]. With an Option 1(b) where Book 3 is on its own.
The smallest feasible number of bindings is probably 3 โ€” one for each volume of the series. Option 2: [1-2-3] [4-5] [6-7]. This is how I break up the arcs of the fic in my head, and each volume ends on a major plot/thematic pivot point. But that would also give you a "Volume 2" that is around the size of A Storm of Swords, by George R. R. Martin. Maybe you could make that work with really thin pages, a wide cover, and small typesetting? I'm afraid I don't know how much additional work it would be either way. Choose whichever option you'd like best to see on your shelf, and/or whichever will be easier to bind!
