Oh hey did I ever tell you my experience with it/its pronouns. I used them for a nonbinary character in a story project I wrote for a writing class in college. And my professor in response was like “I feel like this is dehumanizing” and I was like “I thought someone might say that, so here’s the thing: I use it/its pronouns to refer to God in that same story, too” and my professor was like “yeah but it feels debasing.... like you’re referring to the character like it’s just a bug or something....” and I’m like “once again I cannot stress enough that I, and this character, use these pronouns to refer to GOD ITSELF” (and this was a Catholic college so you know our understanding of God as The Almighty Is Very Great)
