starting a new job be like:

new job: oh hey! we have a progression wall where all our different position descriptions are available for you to peruse and "future drive" and plan your future success here!

me: ok let me peruse these position flyers etc

also me to myself: *reads the position description for front desk receptionist* the fuck you mean you require/recommend having a full ass degree for front desk reception??? get the fuck outta here. also how much more do they earn than us who out on the phones??? bizarre

#life #about me #shut up ilona #ilona's jobhunting thoughts and woes lol #ilona's work thoughts #ilona's work dilemmas #like.its good that they do have that wall at this call centre im at #but the fact that the salary brackets arent on them annoys me #like how much more would my pay go up if i was in the HR team instead of on the phones at $26 an hour??? #(ie $53;250 a year???] #like surely an extra 10 grand a at least #but anyway #it all depends if 'your team leader sees potential in you to thrive somewhere else' #according to our trainer or they just think you're good enouvh just to stay on phones and not progress out of that role #like yeah i understand its a call centre. so duh. theres not much room for growth past the phone serving customers #unless you overwork yourself and get super buddybuddy w/ your team leader #and ALWAYS offer to take people's extra split shifts or swap hours and ALWAYS take saturday work #yes this call centre runs on saturdaysas #*as well unfortunately but at least our hours got reduced til 2pm on sats instead of 8am to 8pm like in qld #so our sat times are 10am to 2pm #and theyre apparently a 'hot commodity' bc its yhe only time your pay goes up a bit by a few more bucks #bc of weekend penalty rates and weekend hour loading etc or w/e #other than public holidays #anyway like ive said i'll tough it out for a few months ans see how i go
