Fall into place 🍂 • I took this shot a few years back during a hot air balloon ride in upstate New York. It was seriously the most beautiful evening floating over the fall foliage as the sun descended to the horizon... but we hit a bit of a hitch when our pilot realized two things: we had veered off course from where he’d expected and we were low on fuel. You see, that’s the thing with hot air balloons—there’s no way to steer them and you’re literally just going wherever the wind blows. You also need a pretty open clear area to land them and we’d begun to float perilously in the direction of a national forest, aka a total lack of clear areas. Luckily, we spotted a relatively open field and he navigated us to it, landing us smack in the middle of someone’s backyard. The woman came running out from her home in disbelief as a literal hot air balloon landed on her property. Thankfully she was a good sport about it and thought it was so funny.
