Blackpink The Album Review~

I love this album! All of the songs are bops, and the packaging is so cute! So the way this is gonna work is I’m gonna give a number ranking to the songs, rank then in order from my favorite to least favorite, talk about the physical albums, give my final thoughts, and then do an overall ranking 🙈✨

Number ranking for songs~

How you like that~10/10

So the first time I heard this so I instantly fell in love with it. I don’t care what anybody says, this song is a fucking bop.

Ice cream~10/10

I think the first time I heard it I liked it but it wasn’t an “I LOVE THIS SONG” as soon as I heard it. Buuuuuut, the more I heard it the more it grew on me and now I really really love this song. It makes me super happy to listen to and makes my mood rise whenever I hear it.

Pretty savage~ 10000/10

Pretty Savage is that bitch and you’re lying to yourself if you say you hate this song. The beat, the vocals, the raps 🙈✨ Oh and then when Jennie is like “saaaaavvvvvaaaagggggeeeee” and Jisoo saying “you better run run run” 🥵 Rosé saying “pretty girl” and everytime Lisa says “all my diamonds blah blah” oh my god. This song is my sexuality now.

Bet you wanna~8/10

So I had a lot of hopes for this song because of Cardi B but it kind of fell through. To clarify I really do like this song, when it comes on I don’t skip it because I still enjoy it but it isn’t my favorite off the album. Rosé’s vocals saved this song and it shows lmao. Like I said, still like the song but it’s not my favorite.

Lovesick girls~1000/10

Okay so when I first heard this I thought it was super cute and I liked it but it was just 🤷‍♀️ for me. But for some reason I just kept rewatching the MV (I don’t stream cause I ain’t got time for all that) and I would replay it everytime it came on. There are lyrics that really hit home. To be specific: “we were born to be alone but why we still looking for love” , “Everyone eventually leaves, I’ve become numb to crying, Hurt over and over again”. There were more but those are the ones that stuck out to me the most. I feel like this song applies a lot to things and relationships (like friendships and other relationships) I’ve had or have so it just hits a little different. Of course there also is Jennie’s iconic rap and then the MV! Lisa’s jacket that has flashing lights hits different, Rosé with pink hair in the bathtub, Jisoo in water 😭😭 Oh my god I can’t! I really love this song and music video.

Crazy over you~ 10000/10

Once again, this song is that bitch. It’s the beat for me and when they say “sound the alarm”, “I’m crazy over you” oh gosh it’s perfect 🥴😭 And the vocals right before the “I am crazy over you”!!!!! Don’t even get me started on Rosé and Jisoo 😭 JeSuS this song lives in my head rent free. I LOVE this song. The way I walk around the house just repeating “I am crazy over you” and dance is embarrassing. That song makes me feel like a bad bitch for some reason. Everything about it is perfect. Pretty Savage was my fafavorite song but I think this has replaced it honestly. I could go on and on as to why this song is THAT song but I’ll save y’all the headache lmao.

Love to hate me~9/10

So I don’t hate this song but it was pretty forgettable for me. The first time I heard it, it was my least favorite. It’s not that I hate it because it’s constantly stuck in my head but it just doesn’t stick out to me as much as the other songs do. However, this song hits a little different. Like the lyrics 🙈✨ Oh and I really love the part where they’re lowkey whispering. Like the “wake up, yeah, make up, maybe” that part and then Lisa’s rap....those parts hit a little different. So yeah, not my favorite but still a good song.

You never know~ 1000/10

This was the perfect way to end the album. A softer song that has that raw emotion...absolutely beautiful. This song really really hits home. A lot of people think I’m this perfect person because I’m pretty smart, I have good friends, I get the leads in the plays and musicals, im nice to everyone, I go to an art school and it basically just seems like im thriving but the truth is I do be struggling. I have a lot of hardships I’ve had to overcome and that I’m still overcoming yet a lot of people don’t know that. I’ve gone through a lot to be where I am today and people like to think I have this perfect life because that’s the front I put up. So this song just hits a little different. When Jennie sings the chorus that really hit different because it just made me think of how much hate and bullshit she has to go through. Obviously I also thought about all the hate every single one of them has to put up with. We think their lives are perfect yet we’ll never truly know how much they struggle unless we’re in their shoes. This song is so beautiful and the vocals just....wow. Idk what it is about how Jisoo starts the song but there is something so pretty about how she sings. Anyway, love this song so much. I saw some people say this was forgettable but I completely disagree. The lyrics hit different. Even if you haven’t gone through what the girls are singing about, you’ve experienced someone who has and I feel like thinking about that person while listening to the song just makes your heart hurt a little. Idk, this song is so perfect to me.

Physical Album Thoughts~

So, the physical album is super cute! So for version 3 I had the impression that it was going to have a smoky look but it ended up just being shinny so that was lowkey weird lmao. I got version 2 because pink is my favorite color but I almost got the 3rd version (version 4 was sold out when I went to preorder) so I’m glad I got the 2nd version. I love the cover of the photo book, it’s so beautiful and it was a nice little surprise that the picture changes. All of the pictures in each of the photo books are so so cute! The girls look absolutely stunning. I personally perfer their past photo books only because I’m a sucker for the concept photos and seeing pics from the music video buuut like I said all of the pictures are beautiful and I’m so happy with the quality and how many pictures are in the photo book. The only other problem I had with the photo book is I wish they did it like the past ones where all of the pink versions had color with the black stuck to the darker gray, white, and black themes. Version 2 is kind of like both of the black versions but still, the pictures are great so I cant complain at all! Love the postcards and they feel very smooth. Great pictures, could look at them all day. Love the size of the poster, very cute! I saw pictures of the group PCs and I wish they were different cause they kind of looked the same but maybe they look different in person. The sticker is so cute, love the black and white picture you get, and I LOVE the random postcards and random photo cards. Overall, you get a lot and I’m in love with the packaging. Some little things that bothered me but the quality was great so I can’t complain 🤷‍♀️

Final thoughts~

Everything about this album is perfect. There are no songs that I hate or dislike. None that I skip and none I wouldn’t listen to by itself. I disagree with people saying pretty savsavage should have been the title track instead of lovesick girls. We got the black with how you like that, we got the pink with ice cream, and lovesick girls was a mix of the two. Obviously that song meant something to the girls since Jisoo and Jennie wrote some of the lyrics and helped produce it. I think people would have complained if Pretty Savage was the title track because they always want the girls to do “something different” and lovesick girls was something different. At first I was a little sad by the fact that there were only 8 songs but honestly I’d rather have quality over quantity. Each song felt like they spent a lot of time on it and if there were more songs I feel like there would have been some filler songs so the quality wouldn’t have been as good as it is now. Like I said, packaging was cute and you get a lot. The issues I had are more personal issues and they don’t really bother me all that much so the positives out way the negatives by a LOT!

Overall ranking:

1000000/10....this album was that bitch and will forever be that bitch 🤷‍♀️

For my first blog, i would like to speak about my interests and things that i enjoy doing. My favorite kinds of art are animation and watercolor pencils drawings which are linked with cartoons. I love TV and film art which are surrounded with my favorite TV shows such as The vampire diaries, The 100, American Horror Story, Outer Banks and Friends etc. I also love Disney films since I was really young, my favorite Disney films are Princess and the frog and Tangled. I am a massive huge fan of Harry potter and know all the films back to back. For my age, I love old school films and music. I love Grease, Breakfast club, Clueless, Pretty Woman, Notting Hill and many more. This applies to my music taste to, I love Queen, Madonna, Whitney Huston, Fleet wood Mac and so many more.

Another thing that I am really interested in is Interior Design, I love keeping my room tidy and finding different ways of designing my room to express my interests. One of my walls in my bedroom is covered in movie posters, album covers, my favorite quotes, TV programs and films. I love my room and feel so comfy and cosy. This links to my love for interior design, i love designing things and helping other people find there style for there room.

Another thing that i am absolutely obsessed with is Christmas. I absolutely love being cosy and cold at Christmas time. The festive feels with winter and being with your family, is my favorite time of year. I love decorating the whole house ready for Christmas. I also have a little job at Billy Bates Fun Fair, which runs throughout Christmas, which is really fun. I love Christmas music and films, my favorite Christmas film is Nativity 1.

Also, I have got into reading a little bit more and i really enjoy it. At the minute I am reading the After Series by Anna Todd, I have watched the first film and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would like to widen my imagination a little bit more though and carry on reading different books. I love films, books and tv shows I feel like it is my comfort zone to explore different stories.

I love going on pintrest and making different boards and pins, of my favorite films, collage walls for my bedroom, TV shows which i have got invested in, different actors and genres of music. I feel like this is a massive way of trying to express your self and I also find it really fun to do and a relaxation method. It also makes me feel more motivated when I have a clean area to do work with when I’m at home.

Image 1-

In our lesson today, we needed to look at images in depth. The first image, is of a man in a painting with a pair of glasses in front only showing one lens. The man in the image seems to be identified as Vicent Van Gogh- a famous artist, giving us the idea that this photo has been taken in an art gallery. Deeper into this, knowing that the sentence at the bottom of the photo is in french could imply that this is taken in the famous Louvre museum in a France. The sentence translates into ‘see more clearly for less’ showing that this could be for a advertisement for glasses, where the sellers are trying to show the good prices of the glasses. The colours in this picture, are very light and have the same colours of blues and greens throughout the photo with hints of brown. I think that this photo would have a very different effect if the colours where changed, the colour scheme is very happy and has very little darkness. I think that the focal point in this photo is definitely the mans face, only because of the lense focusing on it and making it more realistic then the rest of the photo. The part of the photo which is focused by the glasses looks like a real life photo of a man, unlike the other half which looks like a painting . This implies how good these glasses really are; which is the message that the advertisers are trying to get across, to sell to customers.

Image 2-

This next image shows an ice cream, which has a normal cone but the ice cream has been replaced by an oversized stomach. The colours in this photo are quite plain, however the main three parts of the image have completely different colours. I think that there is a massive reasoning for the colours as, they have used quite nice happy colours when the subject it is based on is quite serious. This could be because they do not want to offend anyone. The focal point in this image is straight away the ‘ice cream’ which is actually an oversized stomach. It’s the first thing that you see when you look at the image and it makes you think what it actually is. This advertisement also is french which is implied by the symbol at the bottom with the colours of the French flag and the sentence in french which is translated into ‘obesity starts at a young age’. This implies that this advert it directed to children, which also can be implied by the ice cream as it is a very child-like food.

Image 3-

This image shows a man with a car painted on his face, getting punched by another man with a car painted on his hand to create the image of two cars colliding and crashing into one another. It is stated clearly underneath ‘Stop the violence, don’t drink and drive’ implying that this is an advertisement about awareness of drinking whilst driving. The colours on this image are a lot darker than the other, showing that this is a serious problem happening all around the world. The only colours which stand out from the dark background is the two cars which are red and green. I think a reason why the cars are a different colour are to show that this can happen to anyone because these are quite popular car colours. The focal point in my opinion is the mans face, you can tell that he is in pain which shows how bad it could be. Another thing I picked up on in this photo is the text. The words in this image are different sizes and colours, the words ‘Stop the violence’ are in white and ‘don’t drink and drive’ I found this unusual as it would be the other way around because red is a colour I associate with the world violence.

Image 4-

The next image seems to be based on an advertisement to do we saving trees, the advert is clearly raising awareness. The colour scheme for this advert is quite bright, the colour green is definitely the main focus. Green is a colour that I would normally associate with nature, therefore this links really well with the purpose of the advert. I definitely think that if the colour was different then it wouldn’t link as well. The focal point of this image appear to be the leaf with the city shaped in the middle. It shows huge amounts of smoke coming out of these factories showing the huge effect on the trees. To conclude, I think that this advert is all about saving the trees.

Image 5-

The next image, is my favourite out of the 7. The image shows two political leaders Donald trump and Kim Jong Un screaming into a boys ears, however he cant hear any of it due to have headphones in. The headphones are labelled ‘noise canceling’ showing that they block all the sound out. I did some further information into this advert to learn that it was for a campaign called ‘block out the chaos’. In my opinion this obviously means blocking out all the bad things gong in the world. The two things in this image that signify this the most is the rocket and the red button. I feel like the both show ideas of war and heavy violence. This is also shown by the colour red being used throughout the image, as the colour red could signify the feeling of anger. In this image I don’t really feel that the colours would change much because it is spreads it point across really well, however the colour red does tie in really well with the subject. I don’t think that there is a focal point ethier in this image as there is so much going on, however there definitely is a running theme of violence. Another thing i have noticed is the only white space is the headphones blocking out the sound, the colour white represents purity and peace.

Image 6-

This image clearly shows a elephant which is crumbling as if it is made out of stone. The colours in the image are very dark and there isn’t any bright colours, this therefore implies that this is a serious advert. In the corner is the logo for WWF (World Wide Fund For Nature) showing us that it is an advert about awareness for animals. The main focal point in the image is clearly the elephant, as it is clear and the message of the elephant becoming hurt of extinct is clear. In the corner there is a quote saying ‘desertfircation destroys 5,000 species every year’. Desertfircation meaning the process by which fertile land becomes desert, typically as a result of drought, deforestation, or in appropriate agriculture. This implies that where these elephants are living isn’t safe and they are struggling to survive.

Image 7-

Image 7 shows a cup with a car printed on the lid where the straw is coming out of the gas pipe on the back of the car. It displays a clear piece of text stating ‘Pollution is closer than you think, friends on the earth’. I think that this text implies how brainwashed the world is. I think that the world every day uses more cars, buses, taxis, trains, planes and this obviously causes more pollution but people aren’t aware of this. There for this advert raises a lot of awareness. The colour scheme is quite plain and bland, however I think this suits the advert well as sometimes colours can be distracting from the real message making more people focus on the text.

Plan the entire night (where you go, why, what you eat, what you wear, the other places you go, what you talk about, etc.) alright. here goes nothin. they didn't say wHat bias it had to be so um,,,im doin jae bc nobody can stop me. let me just run you through the date. start to finish. I'll start with outfits bc in this friendship with jae, style is Key. jae would be wearing his hp wire frames and wearing an oversized maroon sweater bc gotta have the Sweater Paws. and let's just say for this time, he had the hair he had in the when you love someone mv bc that's a good. okay honestly. that entire swingset look? the outfit, hair, everything. tHAT is what he's wearing. okay. me?? um. probably wearing some cute black skinny jeans and some classic red converse. and probably an oversized, light grey sweater. we just havin those cute sweater paw vibes yknow bc we like that. imma make this a day long date bc i Can. so after we do our things yknow, we meet up at a cute coffee shop (btw we are in seattle) at like 9am bc we are not wasting the day sleeping. we have a casual, flowy, comfortable morning conversation over warm coffee and soft muffins. then at like 10am, we leave the coffee shop and walk down to a library and grab some poetry books and sit on the comfy library couches and read each other some poems to set the mood for the day. at 11am, we walk to through the streets of seattle, having wonderful conversation, even stopping by the bubble gum wall and leaving our mark there before continuing, maybe once in a while stopping to admire the graffiti or art posters along the way. stopping off at a park or a bench to rest. just having no particular destination and simply enjoying the city as it lightly rains. around 1pm, we stop by a cute, old restaurant that has been around for decades and order the oldest item on the menu. we talk, smile at the old man that started the restaurant and shake his hand before leaving at almost 2pm. then we go to pike place market. we watch them throw the fish, we go into every single shop there is & look around. we don't buy anything but we take a few pictures together with his polaroid camera throughout the day. we spend the rest of the afternoon there bc there is so much to do and so much to look at. we buy some fresh berries and snack on them bc seattle berries are truly devine. we even go to the original starbucks and buy a coffee. we take a polaroid picture of course which i will later tape to the wall next to my bed next to all the other polaroids we've taken throughout our friendship. after spending the afternoon at pike place market, we go to dinner at a cute restaurant across the street that jae swears has the best breadsticks. and he's not wrong. we spend the entirety of the 6pm hour and part of the 7pm hour at this restaurant, talking about some of what we've done today as well as other pointless conversations. as 7:30 creeps up, we step out of the restaurant. the sun has already gone down and all the street lamps and city lights are ablaze. we walk down to the space needle, deciding that it's a good way to end the day. so we pay the ever growing price to go to the top (where most people have already begun to leave). we step out onto the outside of the very top and peer out to look at the city. we walk around it once slowly, taking in every inch of nighttime seattle. we point out what we find astonishing while doing so. once we make a full revolution, we walk to the side that overlooks our favorite view (the side that shows the giant ferris wheel and the ocean) and lean against the railing, just staring out. then we start getting into deep conversations about the universe and other personal topics that only the two of us will ever know. we stay there for a while, eventually just sitting on the floor bc our feet and legs have grown tired. i sit against the wall as he lays on his back, his head resting comfortably on my lap. I play with his hair as we continue you our quiet conversation. we stay like this until everyone else has left and even some of the employees have left. we don't leave until the last employee left says that we have to leave bc they are closing. so we get up and walk hand in hand back inside the elevator and back down to the bottom floor. we step outside and agree that it looks less twinkly on the floor then it did at the top of the space needle. we check the time, seeing that it's past 11pm. so jae, being the good friend he is, walks me to my apartment (although he doesn't live in the same complex, it's only a 10 minute walk away from where he lives). as we walk, we have comfortable conversation about the nighttime. once we reach my building, he walks me up the three flights of stairs and 12 feet down the hallway to my door. I thank him for the day and we give each other a hug. we stay in that position, hugging, for nearly five minutes, not saying a word. the only sound i can hear is his heartbeat. once he pulls away, saying that he will see me soon and he promises to text me when he makes it home safely, we bid our farewells until next time and I go into my apartment, waving one last goodnight wave before closing the door, leaning against it as i listen to his footsteps fade down the hallway. ~the end~ okay honestly that was rEALLY fun and I had a gt doing that. thank you mo for tagging me. honestly. I would tag someone else to do it but LITERALLY the only two people ik on here are mo and ri and they both already did it so oop. im not gonna tag n e one bc idk n e one. sorry it took so long for me to fInally do this. thank you for reading!!
