* Making art is the way I process my feelings. It's necessary for me because I learned from a young age to stuff em, so I write, paint, stitch, make books and other goodness I've been keeping to myself. When I don't understand what I'm feeling I work it out on paper or whatever substrate I choose for exploring my inner commotion. I call it dark art and hope to bring the light to my work enough to strike a balance because I believe art is what comes from the heart, mind and soul. Dark or light or the two combined are all expressions of me. * During the late 70's, it was my ambition to become a Catholic nun. I'd finished all the rites needed to complete my catechism studies, but my mother became Mormon after we moved to a new neighborhood, she was adamant about converting me to Mormonism and I resisted until I realized it would make my life unbearable to not submit. I would have had to hitch a ride with neighbors I hadn't met. Since I was a painfully shy 14 year old at that time I couldn't summon the nerve to go ask. I stopped going to church once she kicked me out of the house.
