Two little boys huddled close together, the smaller one curled close to his older brother. Frank was being loud again, being annoying. The loud boom of his voice spooked the younger, as the older boy murmured soft words into his curly locks. “One day, we’ll run to the circus away from Frank. Jus’ you an’ me.”

“You can’t even do the monkey bars! How’re you gonna do the trapeze?”

Years later, Mickey points at the trapeze artist. “We should get one of those things.”

Ian chuckles. “Lip an I wanted to run away to the circus once.”
