#n95 face masks uk

I shaved my hair 6½ months ago and it is not long enough for braids but also too long for me to just not comb it which is a pain. Although I need to get some kind of tape for my face mask before I go to the salon.
I can't take several hours of my ears being sliced by ear loops after I've been used to head straps for like 7 or 8 months. Using tape and not having to adjust my mask sounds live, but I also want to keep my skin so probably not a good idea to use any old double sided tape.
I saw a brand of N95s that uses adhesive but they don't ship to the UK :/ truthfully I'd rather do my hair myself but I did J Florid's hair and I am still exhausted. It got to the point I physically couldn't sleep anymore despite trying but I was still tired. And doing someone else's hair is way easier than doing your own.

Regulations on wearing medical masks instead of homemade cloth masks in European countries
How European Countries Mandate Medical-Grade Masks Over Homemade Cloth Face Coverings?
Given the fact that the covid pandemic has spread all over the European countries, the EU leaders are considering restrictive measures to reduce the number of infections And for that reason, some European countries start to have medical-grade masks mandatory as the most effective solution for slowing the disease spreading down.
French is followed by Germany, where the government has required all people within the country to wear a mask FFP2 or FFP1 in workplaces, public transport, or shops. This decision comes as the consequence of Bavaria state’s more stringent rule that enforces people to wear N95 respirators for surgical grade. This mask is believed to filter almost all air particles on public transport or stores.
According to the Chancellor of German – Angela Merkel, the quick spread of coronavirus variants that first appear in Brazil, Africa, and the UK is why German need stricter requirements.
For Austria, from January 25, citizens will have to wear an FFP2 mask in stores and on public transport.
At the recent summit, the EU leaders discussed the requirement of tougher restrictions on travel limitation and quick testing framework; however, the issue on what mask must be the best choice is out of the subject.
A new warning from the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention is that the new covid variants might cause many more deaths and hospitalizations in all of Europe. And for that, each country must apply all essential measures like physical distancing, contact tracing, or quarantine right away.
The ECDC also recommends that people wear face masks for outdoor or indoor activities, even though it does not clarify which face-covering type is the best.
In another location where the easy spreading mutation of covid might lead to the third deadly wave- Britain, the medical-grade face masks are not a strict rule except for the requirement of face coverings in store, public transportation, and some indoor activities.
The guidance from the UK is that bandanas or scarves are also appropriate for covering the face though scientists consider this method is effective to block droplets from the wearer.
Some Research On Medical-Grade Masks And Homemade Cloth Face Coverings
Tumblr media
With the development of easily transmissible variants, scientists recommend the most effective method to reduce the spread is the limitation of viral exposure.
Besides the measures for public health, the medical-grade masks (Dony Mask, for instance) must be the top solution.
Unlike surgical or fabric masks that keep users from large droplets when coughing, sneezing, or speaking, FFP masks can filter both the inflow, outflow air and protect those wearing it from aerosols or small droplets. When correctly worn, FFP2 can protect them from 94% of all particles in the air.
The intense weave in surgical masks delivers a pretty higher protection than a homemade cloth mask. Still, some scientists believe the efficacy of a mask is also based on the amount and type of fabric used for the mask that can impact their safety rating.
The cloth masks guidance in the first wave in the covid 19 pandemic is still limited. The fear of lacking medical masks for frontline doctors or nurses is now a subject of review, especially when the medical mask supplies have increased for now.
However, as the supply chain’s disruptions are still questionable, some governments still think cloth masks a better choice than having no masks.
The health council of French, on the other hand, argued the cloth masks do not offer sufficient protection for the new variants.
Some scientific researches show that medical-grade masks can be effectively protected and prevent virus spreading. More specifically, in June, the medical Lancet newspaper announced a study that compares the rates of transmission in 16 countries. In this study, N95s and respirator masks seem to be more useful to protect users from transmission than cotton or surgical masks.
In August, another study from Duke University compares 14 different commonly used face masks. It showed N95 as the most effective version and followed by the three-layer masks for surgery. The use of neck fleeces or knitted masks might even raise the chance of transmission from droplets.
What Does The WHO Says?
For now, the World Health Organization guidance still states the surgical or medical face coverings should only be for people with covid symptoms, people in their contact, patients with underlying conditions, people above 60 years old, and healthcare workers. Otherwise, the normal fabric masks with about three layers are enough to keep people safe.

4 Tips to Stay Safe against COVID-19 in Winters
Almost recently, an unidentified virus infected a smaller chunk of the population in Wuhan City in the Hubei province in China. The virus eventually emerged since the biggest health concern from the 21st century with all the World Health Organisation (WHO) declaring COVID-19 like a pandemic in late January 2019. Nobody during those times might have considered that the globe would nevertheless be struggling to normalize things again. As per WHO's data, the herpes virus has infected greater than 75 million people and triggered nearly 1.7 million deaths in 222 countries or areas (depending on 20th December, 2020). In fact, the United Kingdom reported a fresh mutation with the COVID-19 strain that spreads faster and is also almost 70% more infectious than the earlier identified strain. Is COVID-19 more dangerous in winters? It appears like yesterday, though the COVID-19 strain was identified last winter. Now with cases spiking in the UK, India, and also other countries, the entire world is worried in what this winter will bring. In reality, the virus has proven itself as a possible all-season virus that spreads rapidly the full year. However, the problems can aggravate during cold months of winter. Experts believe viruses have a tendency to survive longer in cold and dry climates. In fact, the National Centre of Disease Control (NCDC) warned that this Indian capital could experience a clear, crisp surge in the quantity of COVID cases since the prevalence of respiratory illnesses during winters may worsen the symptoms with the disease. With the vaccinations still inaccessible to large populations, herpes can always thrive and spread like wildfire in winters. Thus, the necessity to stay safe and take preventive steps is a lot more than ever. Here are Buy rapid covid tests near me that should help you in staying safe against COVID-19 throughout the winter months: 1. The virus spreads when an infected person releases respiratory droplets while talking, coughing, or sneezing. Thus, it is crucial that you stay faraway from other folks and continue with the social distancing protocol. Staying no less than 6 feet away from people usually works much like the rule of thumb. It would be best if you stay at home and prevent likely to crowded and public facilities, unless necessary. 2. Wear an N95 mask Wearing a mask can be as significant as following social distancing. In fact, it does not take best defence against the herpes simplex virus until a secure vaccination is available on the average man or woman. You should preferably decide on N95 masks. Earlier, we were holding manufactured in limited numbers and were only used by healthcare workers and professionals. But now, N95 masks can be purchased towards the general public as they provide best safety against virus transmission. For instance, the best face masks like Safekind N95 masks boast a ProGuard 5-layer protection technology for complete safety as well as nose clips and soft elastic loops for uncompromised comfort. 3. Don't touch the eyes, nose, and mouth The virus typically enters the human body through eyes, nose, or mouth. Thus, avoid touching these areas together with your bare hands. We usually touch various surfaces the whole day along with the chance for collecting herpes from those surfaces can not be denied. 4. Clean both your hands regularly All national and international health bodies declare that the herpes virus can be defeated easily in case you wash and disinfect your hand regularly. While in your own home, you should wash the hands multiple times with soap and water. Consider using Safekind hand sanitizers since they not simply kill the herpes simplex virus but additionally boast the goodness of Aloe Vera to hold the hands moisturized. Lastly, stay wary with the symptoms. Fever, dry cough, and tiredness are some of the most common signs and symptoms of COVID-19 disease. In case you or any member of the family experiences any of these symptoms, have a COVID test done immediately. Till the time a safe vaccine is not accessible to all, preventive measures and rapid actions remain the sole weapons within our war against COVID-19.

Risk compensation considered harmful
Tumblr media
The politicization of covid started early, with the “noble lie” that masks wouldn’t prevent the spread of the disease, a lie told in a bid to prevent panic-shoppers buying up all the N95s that health workers needed.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/17/opinion/coronavirus-face-masks.html
Safety talk is often a pretext: sometimes paternalistic, sometimes authoritarian and sometimes (ironically) anti-regulatory.
The British “health and safety gone mad” panic of the 1990s is a perfect microcosm of how this works. After a revolution in evidence-based public safety measures improved the daily lives of millions of people, puny authoritarians and grifters of every stripe realized that safety talk was a powerful weapon for bossing people around while lining their pockets.
In their 2014 book “In the Interest of Safety,” @senseaboutsci’s Tracey Brown and Michael Hanlon document the way that bosses, consultants and cranks used “health and safety” as an unquestionable justification to make other people do their bidding.
https://memex.craphound.com/2014/09/08/in-the-interests-of-safety-using-evidence-to-beat-back-security-theater/
Safety talk enabled both the theater manager who insisted that everyone in the audience of Peter Pan wear a helmet during the wire-flying scenes and the tube-platform supervisor who banned cleaners from wearing warm hats in the winter months (“so they can hear oncoming trains”).
It also gave rise to a class of consultants who made outlandish claims about safety requirements that led to lucrative contracts. The most bizarre example was the grifters who went around graveyards kicking over old tombstones to prove they could topple on a mourner. They then sold special tombstone-bracing services up and down the nation.
“Health and safety” is still a punchline in the UK, thanks to all of this nonsense — despite the fact that none of this was the result of actual health and safety regulation. Rather, it was an unquestionable, all-purpose excuse wielded by the greedy and foolish.
The major casualty of this abuse wasn’t the millions spent on tombstone reinforcement or the absurdity of wearing a helmet for Peter Pan’s flight — it was the discrediting of the very idea of evidence-based safety. You can trace a straight path from turning health and safety into a punchline to the Grenfell fire and the national epidemic of lethally flammable building cladding. Every time someone brought up the possibility that it might be a bad idea to sheathe high-rises in, basically, solid-state gasoline, they were jeered at as “health and safety” weirdos.
But long before the British health-and-safety wheeze, American corporate apologists were weaponizing safety talk, led by Sam Peltzman an economist at (where else) the University of Chicago.
In 1975, Peltzman published a landmark study that purported to finally validate the “risk compensation” hypothesis: the idea that when you make things safer, people engage in riskier behavior, with overall safety declining as a result.
https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.1086/260352
Peltzman’s paper was intended as an evidence-based rejoinder to seatbelt laws — laws that auto manufacturers vehemently opposed. But there was just one problem: Peltzman’s paper was “riddled with errors” and Peltzman did not perform “rudimentary checks on the validity of his model.”
https://www.mdpi.com/2313-576X/2/3/16/htm
Peltzman was wrong, but he was also useful. As Tim Requarth writes in Slate, Peltzman’s ideas failed to stop seatbelts, but the did lead to widespread motorcycle helmet law repeals — and a wave of fatalities and maimings.
https://slate.com/technology/2021/11/risk-compensation-debunked-masks-rapid-tests-vaccines-safety.html
Risk compensation does occur in very narrow and specific circumstances, but all the studies purporting to show that it is a widespread, predictable outcome of any safety regulation have failed to replicate.
But just as health-and-safety panic served a useful purpose, so does risk compensation fraud: it serves as an unassailable justification for both big-business-freindly deregulation and authoritarian sex-negativity.
Risk compensation helps corporations that want to avoid retooling to comply with safety measures, such as fight child safety caps on medicine:
https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.7556/jaoa.2006.106.7.405/html
More prominently, it’s used as empirical facewash for blue-nose moralizing. Risk compensation was used to fight the Pill (“it’ll make women promiscuous”):
https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/wellness/1995/05/16/what-the-pill-did/65d876af-0274-4200-b60b-96d04828b33a/
HPV vaccines (“they’ll make kids promiscuous”):
https://content.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1206813,00.html
Syphilis treatment (“they’ll make everyone promiscuous”):
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4626515/
PrEP (“it’ll make gay and bisexual men promiscuous”):
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/jia2.25351
The morning-after pill (“it will encourage unprotected sex”):
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2006/nov/24/gender.lifeandhealth
Risk compensation is also the excuse of choice to fight drug-related harm reduction, especially needle exchanges (“if we give addicts clean needles, they’ll shoot up more”):
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3936850/
Risk compensation and health-and-safety panic are both part of a safety nihilism campaign that serves big business’s deregulatory agenda, and the cruel moralizing of right wing religious maniacs, the traditional turkeys-voting-for-Christmas coalition.
But risk compensation is especially salient in these covid days, where it’s being used to fight rapid testing (“encourages risky behavior”).
The problem isn’t the difficulty of formulating good health and safety policy, though that difficulty is real. The problem is that, having ruled health policy to be above question or scrutiny, we invite paternalism and authoritarianism. Whether it’s a noble lie, a grift, a moral panic, or a deregulatory fraud, abuse of safety rhetoric always comes to light. When it does, it discredits the whole project of evidence-based safety.
And that is truly an unsafe situation.

Speaking of mask mandates, I finally relented and bought some pretty Kate style fabric masks off Etsy. (I was high risk for a while and mostly wore N95s until I got vaccinated.) If you search for liberty print masks, or even any pretty / floral fabric masks, a good 3/4 of the shops use photos of or search terms for Kate, whether in her Amaia masks or the black one at PP’s funeral. And this is true for shops located in the Deep South of the US, the UK, Estonia, India, Poland, Philippines ….
Now THAT is influence. Even something that literally no one likes has been somehow positively associated with her. She literally makes face masks an aspirational fashion item. It was definitely an interesting reminder of the Harkles’ irrelevance, in a very real-life way.
This is a fantastically illustrative example of the Kate Effect, thank you for sharing it.

This layer also absorbs the moisture from exhaled air, thus enhancing comfort. Together, these 3 layers effectively shield both the person and the encompassing people by limiting the penetration of particles and pathogens in both directions.
In addition, after lockdown, allowing social distancing without masking led to uncontrollable rise in infections. A 2003 SARS examine on five Hong Kong hospitals revealed that staff who adopted all 4 measures of masks, gloves, robes, and handwashing remained healthy. Staff who omitted a minimum of certainly one of these practices turned contaminated however the wearing of masks was probably the most significant and essential measure . The other three measures conferred no further significant protection to masks wearers. Anecdotal proof inside hospital settings confirmed that universal masks utilization should be applied in high-risk areas. sheet mask material factory
FFRs submerged in 3% H2O2 for 30 minutes were reported to not yield important visual adjustments, but those submerged in 6% H2O2 skilled ink fading on the outside . Three cycles of treatments in 6% H2O2 had been also reported to trigger staples on the FFRs to oxidise to various levels . The effectiveness of decontamination by liquid H2O2 was however not evaluated.
A recent examine from UCL suggests that if each particular person within the UK makes use of one single-use mask every day for a year, sixty six,000 tonnes of contaminated plastic waste can be generated, with out counting the waste from packaging . Assuming the same disposal price for every affected nation, the medical waste generated at a world scale is going to be substantial, with a unfavorable impact on our ecosystem and human well being . In an try and curb the spread of the virus, greater than 50 international locations have made face masks obligatory in public areas in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as China, Singapore, Spain, and France .
However, there are not any studies, and knowledge about face masks are plastic polymers which find yourself as microplastic and/or nanofiber contaminants in water techniques. This study evaluates the surgical face mask is a potential source for microplastic contaminants within the littering as nicely as the water methods. Thus, the analytical instrumental methods are important attainable approaches for the identifications of microplastic in microplastic pollutions analysis.
However, you might want to have the NWPP as the outer layer to prevent water droplets from coming into contact with the cotton. However, if you wish to use it as a filter you could take away when washing or replace, then you’d need to create a pocket and put it in the course of your cotton cloth. 2010 analysis found that an 70% cotton/15% polyester Hanes sweatshirt provide “marginal safety in opposition to nanoparticles including these within the measurement ranges of virus-containing particles.” Generally speaking, the higher the cotton content, the better. Subsidiary Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical has also successfully transformed its equipment to provide the materials needed by nonwoven material makers and began supplying producers last month. The 10 manufacturing traces could have a daily output of 12 tons of fabric for N95 masks or 18 tons of cloth for surgical masks. That is sufficient to make 3.6 million N95 masks a day or 18 million surgical masks. It takes time to increase capability, according to an tools manufacturer for nonwoven cloth manufacturing.

i dont think im ever going to forget when my chinese flatmate reported she was living with another person to the chinese government in the UK and they sent us 1,000 antibacterial wipes, two boxes of flu medication, 32 face masks including two N95 face masks and instructions on what to use when in case of coronavirus.
Genuinely, by proxy of living with someone Chinese, I have received more governmental support from China than my own government.
