The Wrong Impression
i love scoops steve but never see any so maybe reader works at scoops with them but steve and robin are close and whenever reader is scheduled to work with steve he always cancels so she thinks he doesn’t like her and quits and robin breaks the news to steve and he’s heartbroken bc he liked reader with a happy ending
Request by anon
Warnings; Angst to Fluff
Steve Harrington hated her, that she was absolutely sure of.
She had been working with Steve and Robin in Scoops Ahoy for a while now and they were super close, they got on well and had bonded straight away.
Steve however seemed to hate her on sight, she wasn't sure what she had done differently from Robin in Steve's eyes but for some reason, he always seemed to cancel when she was working or he barely spoke to her.
The truth was that she had a crush on Steve and had done for a while now but he never noticed her in high school, being King Steve and all he was too popular to notice her, then he fell for Nancy and no other girl compared to her.
She had asked Robin how Steve felt about her but Robin didn't know.
The way Steve was acting was beginning to get her down so she decided to go for a job interview at a library in the next town.
It wasn't far away and the owner was very sweet so she figured it would be nice to work with people who actually liked her.
It was a shame because she liked working with Robin but it was hurting her that Steve so obviously disliked her.
"You can't leave" Robin exclaims when she announces that she's leaving.
"Steve obviously doesn't like me. It doesn't make for a good atmosphere. I want to work somewhere where I feel happy, not constantly worried and crushing on someone who never notices me and doesn't like me at all"
Robin sighs and pulls her into a hug.
"Promise we will always be close though?" Robin asks and she nods smiling.
"Of course" she gives Robin an extra hug then leaves missing Robin muttering to herself.
"Steve you complete dingus"
❤❤
"She what?" Steve gapes at Robin who is glowering at him.
"She quit because you are always cancelling when she's on shift you barely speak to her you dingus! She thinks that you hate her and can you blame her?"
Steve runs his hands through his hair and whispers a string of curses.
"I got so nervous around her! I know King Steve is nervous around a girl, haha but I like her a lot Robin and I've been so off my game lately I had no clue how to talk to her without sounding like an idiot"
Robin shakes her head.
"Go and apologise to her dumbass. Try and salvage the situation". He nods.
"Where is the library that she works?" Robin gives him the library address and he rushes out hoping that yn will listen to him.
She's surprised when Steve comes crashing through the library doors. There's a wild expression on his face and he rushes over to her.
"Steve? What are you doing here? Is Robin okay? Are you okay?",
He nods.
"Can we talk please?" She nods wondering what he wants to talk about. It's near her break so she motions him to sit on the comfy armchair, she sits on the other side.
"Did you quit because you think I hate you?" he asks her and she bites her lip.
"Yes, you get on so well with Robin but you would cancel if I was working or wouldn't talk and it worried me. I didn't know what I had done wrong, I wanted to be in a place where I wouldn't feel so unwelcome"
He swears.
"Shit, no I don't hate you, sweetheart. I'm so sorry the truth is that I like you a lot. You're sweet and beautiful and I've honestly fallen for you. I didn't know how to react around you, it's stupid I know and I should have just talked to you"
She is stunned and doesn't know what to say to him.
"You're King Steve though, you're so charming and sweet" he blushes and shakes his head.
"Used to be suave and shit but not so much now, haven't been King Steve for a long long time"
He gently takes her hand and she feels heat spread through her body.
"I get it if I've messed up my chances honey but I would like to take you out on a date, make up for all my shit"
Smiling she reaches over and kisses her cheek.
"Okay, you can pick me up at four, that's when I finish my shift" he nods eagerly and she feels excitement build up inside her.
She can't wait for tonight.

Some notes that come to my mind as I watch Season 2, episode 3 of Stranger Things (YEs, this would be the equivalent of tweeting live watch, but in just one post)
Jim Hooper is VERY out of his depth. I get him trying to reassure El, but on one hand, BAD idea to lie, even white lie, to a girl whose only socialization after thirteen years or so is the phrase "Friends don't lie" and can make Carrie White look like a parlor trick magician. On the other, not explaining to El that he was late because of probable Upside down shenanigans? Good to protect her of a REAL danger, Bad to give his case. And also, uhm, he knows that Mike, Will, Dustin and Lucas CAN keep El a secret. He saw them ride literal circles around the goverment Shop guys (I know they're not the Shop... but they act like the Shop, they quack like the Shop, they are as stupid as the Shop) so why not trust them a bit?
El of course got her teenage rebellion runaway mood going on. Because come on, El was going to run away. She absolutely tasted freedom in season 1, she was not going to stay locked up in a cabin in the woods forever. Plus, now that she has hair? She looks completely different from before. People wouldn't think much about "Jim Hopper's niece", not even if he is still working with the idiot Shop. OTOH, Why absolutely NO ONE ever tries to teach her how to act normally ? She calls attention to herself precisely because she doesn't know how to talk to people.
Dustin being equally smart (because he started researching wtf was hiding in his trashcan) and stupid (Because he feed it the ONE THING we know is really toxic to a lot of animals and then invited Max to see something that OBVIOUSLY came from the Upside down when Max has no idea of it) is... very sweet in a "teenagers will be teenagers" way. OTOH, not realizing that Dart is OBVIOUSLY from the Upside Down, is a mayor fail on Dustin. I get why Will didn't tell him "Oh, I puked him up", but still, it is an obvious alien thing.
Of course he'd tell Mike. But well, then Will has no taste.
Max has the patience of a saint. But then she has to have it if she's related to Bill.
Bob is equally sweet and while his advice is not that good for Will since... uhm... well, Big Nightmare Clown is not the same as what Will experienced -unless his Big Nightmare Clown was named Pennywise and now I weep that Sean Astin didn't have a chance to be a character in It- at least he is TRYING to treat Will normally which is far, far more than everyone else is doing... and of course his advice ended up backfiring because, well, Will wasn't having NIGHTMARES.
Jonathan has fell SO down on my list of liked characters, he's sitting in the fort with Mike. I would get him angry that his mom is dating a perfectly absolute great guy if his father was a) dead, or b) had been a perfectly absolute great guy. But we have established he hates his dad. So why the hell is he mad his mom has a chance to happiness? It's not as if he read the script and he knows Bob will die and break Joyce's heart!
On other hand... wow, Steve really matured in the year between Season 1 and 2. And he called out Nancy on her secret threesome because wow, she was so entitled "where were you?" so Steve is apparently her driver? So good for Steve to actually step out of something that is bad for him. I understand Nancy complaining that she was drunk and thus he shouldn't take what she said seriously... but then she didn't contradict anything of what she said while drunk so... yeah. No Nancy, you want everything? You need to communicate. While on the other hand, Jonathan absolutely thinks they're a trio and just didn't thought of mentioning it to Nancy or Steve either. This really doesn't work.
Nancy is an IDIOT. Like, she KNOWS her phoneline is intervened. She SAW them do it in a montage. I mean, I love her gumption when it comes to hit things with more teeth than the Osmond's family, but she is an idiot when it comes to common sense. Then again, her brother is also an idiot. Him treating Max like trash just because he misses El is not fair. And why the hell El reacts like a jealous girlfriend? That was the worst narrative choice ever for everyone.
Joyce should take a second job as a private detective. She's REALLY good at it. Of course, she's also a total Mama Bear. And the first one who sees that there's something going on with Will more than what everyone is telling her, because of course. How long before everyone calls her crazy? 10 minutes? (I have to say, Winnona Ryder? KILLS the role). Oh, wow, i was right. It took us 10 minutes to see someone rolling her eyes at her. At least it was not one of the main characters.
Oh, that line of Mike saying "That's like saying if someone is from the Death Star they're not necessarily evil" hits really funny since... in OUR timeline, in 2015, two years before? We got Finn. And a bunch of other non-evil Storm troopers in the comics. And well, by THEIR timeline, they ALREADY had Return of the Jedi, where we see that Darth Vader was, in fact, not evil. So yeah, Mike... You don't get to say that someone is evil just because they were born in a very ugly dimension. And while Dart might be dangerous, Mike's reaction to it is not a good one. Especially when the show shows us that yes, Dart DOES trust Dustin, as he's the one kid that it doesn't hiss at.
I also finally realized WHY it bugs me so much that Stranger Things is Stephen King's lite. It FEELS like a Stephen King story, it moves like an Stephen King story, the characters CAN be paralleled to a lot of Stephen King's characters (Jim Hooper is Alan Pangborn without the knowledge of magic tricks to ease kids into talking with him, Dustin is right out of the Richie Tozier school of kids who don't know when to shut up for their own sake. Hell, I can play "scenes that come right out of a King book" and write a ten pages or so post with season one alone), but it has NO credit or acknowledge to King from the creators at all. On the other hand, two years later we got a series that was supposedly based on King's works and... felt nothing like a King story. So part of my anger is that Stranger Things is what Castle Rock should've been.
I need to work on that because well, not fair to the series. Even if they did took a TON of "inspiration" from King.

Just kiss already.
Love your writing!! Can I request Steve x Reader where reader is Hopper’s niece that recently moved to town after he came back and she gets a job with Steve and Robin at Family Video and Steve doesn’t trust her at first and she tries to befriend him. Eventually they’re both idiots in love pining for each other it drives Hopper and Robin crazy.
Warnings; Angst, fluff, mutual pining, Robin and Hopper are sick of this shit, Murray to the rescue.
Y/n wasn't sure what to think of Hawkins at first. Her uncle had recently come back to live here after being captured and held in a Russian prison.
Everyone thought he was dead, and so did she and spent months grieving her beloved uncle.
Then when she found out what actually happened to him she jumped at the chance to live with Hopper, to make up for time they lost.
Hopper and his girlfriend Joyce were more than delighted for her to come and stay and she settled into Hawkins life.
To her uncle's delight, she even got a job at Hawkins Family video store where she worked with a really nice girl called Robin Buckley and a guy called Steve Harrington.
She adored Robin but Steve was another matter. Ever since she came to Hawkins he seemed distrustful of her, she tried to strike up a friendship but he wasn't interested.
It stung because she didn't even know him so how could she have offended him so badly?
Still, she persisted in showing Steve that she could be trusted and the tense atmosphere between them began to soften bit by bit.
He was very handsome she couldn't deny that, she thought his brown eyes were dreamy and that hair? How did he get it that perfect? It made her jealous.
"Hey look at this". Robin nods to her and she sees Steve talking to a few girls at the counter.
They are really pretty and she feels a tightening in her chest, it feels like jealousy and it grows even worse when one of the girls touches Steve's arm and bats her eyes.
Steve is all for it and flirts back and she feels even worse. Robin rolls her eyes.
"If they are babes then Steve is all for it. He used to be the king of Hawkins high, then Nancy Wheeler came along and they dated, then that fell apart, she broke his heart and he really loved her. Then Steve became less of a douche, I started working with him at Scoops Ahoy, that's an ice cream shop w".
"Did you like him?". Robin smiles and arranges the videos.
"Not at first. Then he grew on me and we became great friends, he's my best friend now. The whole Nancy drama started again a little while back but it's died down again".
She follows all of this and nods.
"So you and Steve have never". Robin bursts out laughing startling Steve and his squad of girls.
"No, absolutely not". Having enough of the jealousy swirling around her chest she passes by Steve but trips and his reflexes are fast as he catches her.
She stumbles into him and he blinks looking into her eyes and her heart skips several beats.
He strokes her cheek and swallows.
"You okay sweetheart?". She nods flustered and she thanks him. Even when she heads to the backroom she feels his eyes on her.
Robin face palms as Steve keeps talking about y/n. Since they started to get along better since Steve gave her a chance he's began to fall for her hard.
Y/n was the same for him and it was driving Robin mad at all the love-sick gazes that they gave each other.
She had an ally in Hopper who had grown even more protective of y/n and as much as he liked Steve was despairing as much as Robin at how much Steve and y/n were driving them mad.
Hopper had one secret weapon though.
Murray.
Murray had an astute tendency to cut right through all the bullshit. Steve had never been on the other end of his musings.
Jonathan and Nancy and Hopper and Joyce had been and now it was y/n and Steve's turn.
She had never met Murray but she had heard about him through her uncle and was keen to meet him.
Until he turned his attention onto her and Steve.
She didn't expect him to zero in on them but Murray had caught their longing looks, the way their hands lingered on each other and the desire in their eyes.
Murray nods to Hopper giving him a look of understanding.
It didn't take long for him to say something either. Just a few hours in their presence and he was despairing as much as Hopper and Robin.
"Okay, enough enough enough". Murray barks out and y/n jumps looking at him.
"This is all very cute you two, all the longing looks and stuff aww it's adorable really but jeez enough already. Steve, yes y/n likes you, it's pretty freaking obvious".
"Y/n no Steve isn't interested in Nancy anymore, he hasn't looked her way once because his eyes are on you".
She grows flustered and tries to explain herself at the same time as Steve does and Murray rolls his eyes.
"We aren't...
"I don't know what you're talking about...
Murray sighs.
"Oh spare me, spare me. Spare me. We all know you want to get together. So go and talk it out, confess your feelings and kiss already!".
Hopper grins and collapses onto his recliner seat.
Well, hopefully that did it.
After Murray's outburst, she follows Steve into her room still a little embarrassed.
"Well, that was awkward". She jokes and Steve is looking at her, his gaze is warm and expression hopeful.
"Not really, kinda got my ass moving. I do like you y/n and I hope that you like me too". She softens and moves towards him and gently kisses him.
He returns the kiss and wraps his arms around her.
"I like you too Steve so much". His answering smile is so wonderful and she rests her head against his chest.
"Keep the door open three inches". Her uncle calls through and she pouts then smirks maicheviously.
"Wanna head to yours Steve?". He gets her way of thinking and smirks.
"I'll get my coat". He kisses her again deeply and her body tingles as she imagines what will happen next.
