ok lemme just ramble this is mostly on gaara's pov bc as we know naruto is the show's ship bicycle literally half of the ninja population is obsessed with this japanese gary sue we love that for him

to not repeat my talking points from 7 years ago its pretty much the gaara ship i care about the most!!!! i respect gaara's severe naruto brainrot that ACTIVELY motivated him to do better and become a better person, something not even his siblings that he half heartedly cared about at best at the young age of 12 achieved!! like sorry to say but the sabaku family dynamic was something NARUTO made possible it wasn't there before and it wouldn't have happened considering his siblings were terrified of him. kishimoto even confirmed this when he stated in the fanbook that it was naruto that pulled gaara from a dark place in a literal and figurative sense even whilst surrounded by dozens of people that cared about him. that was literally the main theme of the kazekage rescue arc baby.

like naruto is just a HUGE part of gaara's personality and growth you can't really ignore that when it's one of the few MAJOR naruto dynamics that constantly get referenced and brought back in the story (even kurama and shukaku wont shut up about it LMFAOOO) but in a way where the drama is already sort of? resolved? like you could tell with p1 and p2 that narugaa was a dynamic that kishimoto cared about and where his feelings eventually shifted from

naruto -> -> -> -> gaara to naruto <- <- <- <- gaara

it has an actual real dynamic development AND conflict without being boring if that makes sense??

something that constantly gets overlooked i fear is just how much gaara puts effort into naruto and how much he wants to be part of naruto's journey which makes me hard to imagine he'd be just??? happy and content being with someone else rather than single in the sliver of a hope naruto, who pretty much returned that sentiment previously but still picked sasuke over him in kage summit arc, will one day realise that as well. GREAT CONTENDER FOR ANGST if you picked the canon setting. gaara knows that if he cant be naruto's #1 he will still try to be there for him how is that not utterly HOMOSEXUAL

as for aus??? in a setting where sasuke isnt around its my default naruto pick lmfao naruto is just extremely stupid and has to be made clear that he and gaara are a thing like a real thing i just want gaara to hang up his kazekage/ceo/whatever responsibilty the little man has give it to temari and go travel with naruto or open a botanic garden or flower shop or ANYTHING as long as its with naruto itd be infinitely more enjoyable to gaara me thinks
