Kit does his best at rationalizing and settling on a flimsy explanation of being created as a counter to Tails(second to serving surge ofc) and with all these shatterspace shenanigans found an unaccounted-for loophole in that whole programming and accidentally wound up feeling emotions(oh no). Nine has no fucking clue why he's feeling any sort of endearment to the most externally emotionless puddle of sadness he's ever come across, but he's been through enough shit in a relatively short period of time so after a while he lets the curiosity take over. And then they hold hands.

Listen, realistically I know Nine and Kit have -0 chance of ever even knowing of each other's existence let alone having any semblance of a romantic relationship in any context, that shit would be less functional than a school computer after you open two tabs of google on it, but as a character dynamic in general it has captivated my brain so!!!

But especially their respective character relation to Tails!!! Nine says he doesn't care, he's better than him they're nothing alike(those are lies!!) Kit cares about Tails only to the extent of Surge's comands and his programing or if the other just forces his way into his face and There's So much character for the little gremlin in my head to play around with ok I'm eepy I'm going to sleep now

Midnight and my brain said Back to Ninami brainrot so here we go.

Nah cuz they would be so horrible for each other actually, I could slap them together after decades of therapy instead maybe but there would be half the fun gone with it too.

Just both of them are so unstable and only used to the abuse from those around them their whole short lives. They were maybe at first they were forced to coexist because of a random plot I can conjure up later, when inevitable interaction happens and get dragged together by some sense of weird kinship (damn bitch you're just like me, how's that existential crisis kicking your ass)(<-internal monologue of the both of them) until they realize hey that guy is kinda cute, to continuing still not knowing what to do around each other but more dorkishly this time because How Does One Interact With A Person They May Or May Not Have Ended Up Having A Crush On (is it actually a crush, did they just achieve friendship status, what in the fuck is going onn)(<-internal monolog²)

I like to think they werent endeered to the other until they got their poetically inverted first impression flipped on them. Nine was having none of it, the most unimpressed and distasteful towards Kit's general adittude until he saw him in action, drown a man or two and which made him go like damn o-ok alright, well. Kit kept his distance cuz he understood Nine was a no nonsense sorta guy and was in his best interest to not irritate him but then Events happened and they wound up sitting on a couch shoulder to shoulder and Kit was like hey yea, hes is not so bad actually.
