i've noticed that a lot of disabled people i've talked to don't know this, and now i'm curious as to if this is commonly-known among the disabled community or if we need to do more education
(clarification note: this is particularly true of countries with socialized healthcare, but even outside of those there's legal barriers placed to intentionally make immigration as difficult as possible in most countries i've looked into. disabled people are technically not explicitly banned from immigrating to some countries with socialized healthcare--although some countries have autistics, the intellectually disabled, and/or paraplegics on their specific "do not enter" lists--but there are a significant amount of legal barriers triggered by a professionally diagnosed disability on their records, which vary country-to-country. usually the burden placed on them to immigrate is to prove they're gainfully employed in a sector the country is actively looking to expand, making an amount of money that proves they can pay for all current and future medical costs out of pocket--essentially so that the government never has to pay for their medical costs. this, obviously, is downright impossible for profoundly disabled people unless they were born into generational wealth, essentially barring all profoundly disabled people from immigration.)
