So I'm seeing some folks are interested in my nurse Karnak AU! I've been filling in on a lot of day shifts lately so I haven't had as much time to sit down and draw but here are some ideas I've had because yes I do intend to write this, I feel it would be too fun to pass up:

Penny is in really bad shape. Ricky, now very much attached to her, wants to see her but knows he's likely to get shooed away if seen entering her room. Mischa causes a big scene to create a distraction so Ricky can visit with Penny because Mischa is a total bro (Ricky resolves he'll just be super super careful)

I've been asked what the deal with Virgil is and quite honestly I'm not sure I'm imaginative enough to think of some role for him here that isn't pure unadulterated nonsense. However my experience as a nurse is that many of us can't stand our companies' charting software so like what if "Virgil" is the name of the hospital's documentation system. Noel hears Karnak mutter "you're killing me, Virgil" under his breath when his computer crashes yet again, goes completely apeshit and tells all the others. This incident is then recorded in the "this nurse is the robot genie looking guy from purgatory" evidence files

Karnak is giving me seasoned RN vibes like he freaking runs this place

Gotta research roller coaster injuries for this, unsure what exactly would have happened to everyone

RIDE THE CYCLONE AU TIME !!!!

The choir decides not to ride The Cyclone, thanks to Ocean noticing that something was off about the ride.

The next day, they get the news about Father Markus (Marcus?). The choir panics, who was going to be the choir director? (Oh but also they're sad. Penny tries to cheer them up with strange facts, but they only really cheer up Ricky tbh) Luckily, they find a new person to be the choir director, some guy named Karnak (that's MR. Karnak to you).

It takes a few days for the choir to get used to him. Well, except for Penny, she didn't really know Father Markus (again,, Marcus??) as the rest of the choir did. One day, she shares a hypothesis about fate, which prompts him to share that he once worked as a fortune teller. Mischa asks him what lunch will be for the next day to prove it, he replies: 'Something that hardly counts as pizza.'

The next day? Lunch is pizza— er, 'pizza' , it's more like 00.1% crust and 90% cheese (if you can even call it that), no sauce. Ricky signs, 'This is the saddest pizza i've ever seen' , Constance wonders how people have the nerve to even call that a pizza.

It could have been just a coincidence, so this time Noel asks about next day's lunch. He ends up being right again, somehow. Everyone thinks it's just because he works at the school, until one day Penny asks the nurse about lunch, but the nurse doesn't know. She immediately tells the rest of the choir, and the next day, they bombard Karnak with questions.

After they calm down and actually stop asking him questions, he simply says, "you'll see," disappointing the choir.

So I've been heavy into RTC in recent months. As well I work as a nurse. So naturally this idea came to me:

Everyone Lives AU where the choir kids survive the Cyclone accident, wake up in the hospital, and come to find out their nurse is a guy named. . . Yep. Karnak

Ricky wrote him a lengthy note between hourly rounds about how they all had died and they were in limbo and he was there too, and while he was there he was a magical mechanical fortune teller with prognostication and resurrection abilities, and how he's not sure how he's there with them now because a rat had killed him by chewing through his power cable. Karnak reads it and responds with a chuckle and "ah yes, your parents DID mention that you have a very active imagination, Richard." *Queue gobsmacked Ricky face*

Ocean is more scared and freaked out and still not past her initial stress response, all "How are we all still alive? How are YOU alive? You just DIED back there. And I thought you could only bring back one of us! That WHOLE TIME you were just testing us??? What kind of messed up game are we playing now?"

"I'm sorry. I'm afraid I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Oooooh yes you do! You were some kind of. . . Ominous novelty machine just before all this!"

"Ah. Curious, one of your friends accused me of the same thing. Quite an interesting phenomenon, how multiple people are on occasion found to somehow suffer the same exact nightmare. This is likely a result of your shared trauma--- I assure you I am just a med-surg nurse. I am not now, nor have I ever been, an 'ominous novelty machine.'"

"So it's just some wacky coincidence that we all remember someone JUST LIKE YOU from the afterlife and now all of a sudden we're all assigned to you? You had no part in that?"

"If I had my way, Miss Rosenberg, I would be assigned to only three of you. Unfortunately, though, safe nurse/patient ratios have really fallen to the wayside in recent years. Now. . . Before I continue my rounding, do you have any questions about your medication?"

The kids convene and question whether maybe he IS just a dude with the same name but COME ON his voice and mannerisms are all the same and he even kinda looks like him and the timing is just too perfect to be coincidental and the way he cracks a smile when someone calls him "Mr. Whatever" like it's him it's gotta be him

Definitely gonna think of more and most likely gonna end up drawing/writing stuff for this lol I just can't resist letting my work influence my hobbies haha

Everyone Lives AU In which Karnak is a nurse, and Virgil is his unlikely friend, """unsavory character""" and punk roommate.

At first I wasn't sure whether I could incorporate Virgil and if so how, but I decided my AU needed his fun, reckless energy. I've been wanting to draw them together for a while, and last night my buddy @cyanidearctic drew them for me which cemented that I absolutely had to.
