That's all that's left. Fifty-seven pages of research, two bottles of morphine and one ticket back to the Capital. The train departs at dusk.
An illustration for a Patho AU inspired by Bulgakov I'll probably never write properly but it's been worming in my brain for over two years now.

pathologic and mikhail bulgakov
well speaking of texts that somehow are similar to patho i must tell you about "a young doctor's notebook" by m.a.bulgakov
a book is about the russian doctor who arrives at a hospital in a very small village after graduating. moving from theory to practise, from being a student to being a specialist - i've understood it like this
imho its rather comforting and interesting to imagine dankovsky instead of bulgakov's bomgard. both character are bachelors who should become real doctors
also religious motifs and pathetic of some chapters reminds me of patho. actually i saw a joke about patho being a young doctor's notebook au and its good
sigh
i cant explain it its really better to read bulgakov and have a nice time

Sometimes, I get possessed at 1 am and doodle Patho Bulgakov AU comics purely to spam my friend (who listens to me ramble about it for over two years now) with. Based mostly on Young Doctor's Notebook and Morphine (as well as one more book I cannot for the life of me find the English name of), where due to an injury during his stay at the Town, Daniil develops a morphine addiction and leads conversations with Death, which follows him back to the Capital.
These snippets are from April last year and I'm still fond of them - I like how messy they are, as it's something I only permit myself to do when it's for something that's not for "public eye" (insert "we can't let people know we do unpolished things!" meme here)
