caboose LOVES utilizing strategic incompetence against wash and church it’s his favorite past time.

church is aware on some level that caboose can do all this shit himself but church is 1) a control freak 2) needs to feel like he is superior to everyone else at all times and 3) so desperately wants to take care of everyone around him but can’t let anyone know this. so caboose is like “ohhh noooo church i can’t make this saaandwiiiich” and church is like “i know you can make that sandwich asshole but also fuck you move over i’m gonna do it because i can do it so much better than you because i’m smarter and better and superior and also i’m going to make sure you have all of your nutrition in but don’t look into it i don’t actually care” and caboose is like “yay sandwich :)”

meanwhile at first wash is honestly still kinda easy to trick and has some unexamined biases and also kind of owes caboose a life debt and so he 100% believes that caboose genuinely needs his help with all of these things all the time. tucker (who caboose’s tactics don’t work on bc he’s completely aware of caboose’s capabilities) is like “dude he’s manipulating you” and wash is like “he wouldn’t do that. he needs this sandwich cut into fun shapes to survive.” eventually wash does figure it out and feels kinda bad about being tricked but also that he did think kind of lowly of caboose and also wash just. genuinely does like to help caboose out. so he just says to him “caboose if you want me to make you a sandwich you can just ask me to make you a sandwich. if you need help with something i’ll just help you.” and caboose is like that never even occurred to me.
