In den Weinregionen Kroatiens gibt es eine Vielzahl an Rebsorten, darunter sowohl einheimische als auch internationale Sorten. Der beliebteste Rotwein des Landes, Plavac Mali, wird aus derselben Rebsorte wie Zinfandel hergestellt. Die wichtigsten kroatischen Stile sind trockene Weißweine aus Grasevina (Welschriesling) und Malvasia sowie rustikale, vollmundige Rotweine. Sie basieren typischerweise auf der Rebsorte Plavac Mali.

Kroatien ist bekanntlich die ursprüngliche Heimat von Zinfandel. Die wichtigsten Weinanbaugebiete gliedern sich in vier Gebiete: Dalmatien, Istrien und Kvarner, Slawonien und die kroatische Donau. Plavac Mali ist der wichtigste Rotwein Kroatiens und wächst hauptsächlich an der dalmatinischen Küste. Es ist ein Wein, der reich und voller Geschmack ist, einen höheren Alkohol- und Tanningehalt hat, einen geringeren Säuregehalt aufweist und Aromen von Brombeeren, dunklen Kirschen, Pfeffer, Johannisbrot, trockenen Feigen und Gewürzen aufweist

Day 2 - Food tour, walking around Dubrovnik.

On our food tour, we had local cheese, prosciutto (similar to Italy but less salty and smoked), olive tapenade, octopus, black risotto (risotto with cuddle fish and ink), gnocchi, and gelato. Lots of local wine as well. We like Malvasia (light white) and Plavac Mali (bold red, really like Dingač region).

Dubrovnik has lots of stairs! After the tour, we went to Fort Lovrijenac (Fort St Lawrence), which had great views of the city. It is now used as a theater for plays, usually Hamlet.
