Several English Department Comics Studies Instructors have been nominated for Eisner Awards this year. Mark Russell was nominated for Best Limited Series, Best Writer, and Best Humor Publication for The Flintstones. Diana Schutz was nominated for Best Reality-Based Work for Calamity Jane: The Calamitous Life of Martha Jane Cannary, 1852–1903 and Best U.S. Edition of International Material for Flight of the Raven. Shannon Wheeler was nominated for Best Digital Comic for Harvey Kurtzman's Marley's Ghost. Named for acclaimed comics creator Will Eisner, the awards bring attention to and highlight the best publications and creators in comics and graphic novels.
