My heart is heavy today. Pixie hasn't been home since Friday. I saw her hunting on the fields when I left for work, but she has been out ever since. We had a severe thunderstorm on Saturday morning and heavy rainfall later that day and even though I was surprised that she didn't come home soaking as I thought she would, I thought she had sought shelter somewhere else to wait out the bad weather. Yesterday though I really started to worry and Tord and I went looking for her, but all to no avail and this night I was lying sleeplessness, waking at the imagined sound of the cat flap going and falling in and out of shallow sleep dreaming about Pixie returning home. I just came home from taking my bicycle around the neighborhood and calling for Pixie and Tord and I will take a tour through the fields on the other side of the lake as soon as he is home. Today was another beautiful day in the garden and I got so much done! I love how I am able to shape and change things and I can't wait for next year's growing season and to see how my plants will have grown then. It's crazy because this year's summer isn't even over yet, but because of the long winter and cold spring this year's growing season is way shorter than usual and I will not get a big yield. Next year I hope to be able to grow more especially if I manage to put a bigger greenhouse in place before winter as I am planning. It's hard for me to do anything else but digging, transplanting plants and building stuff when the weather still allows and I can hardly stop talking about it. Yesterday Tord and I took a looong walk with the cats in a wonderful mild evening while videochatting with my parents so that they could follow along digitally 🤍 It was a beautiful evening and we really are getting the most of this late summer. Today was so stormy (hence the shaky video in my story) and despite of the warmth it smelled like autumn. Summer has arrived. Today we has almost 20°C and after work I basically ran to my greenhouse and then back and forth to set out all the plants I have been keeping in my kitchen for so long. I can't wait for more days like this and the whole next week is gonna be warm according to the prognosis. Spring has got me like... Finally the ice is melting from the lakes. Ice that has been covering them since November. It felt like such a short time and it's incredible to think it has been 6 months! 6 months of ice, frost and snow, that are finally making way for the summer to come. The nights aren't getting entirely dark anymore and soon the landscape will be entirely green and so full of life. Birds have already returned and are giving wonderful concerts, but the weather is still changing between frosty nights, rainy days and sunny evenings from time to time. This week is coming to an end. I used it to rest, fix things at home and just recharge my batteries. I did a lot of things I have been meaning to do for a long time and now I feel relaxed and ready for the weekend. The weather has been crazy too! It was too windy to go outside into the forest for most of the week, but the temperature has risen quite noticeably and a lot of the snow and ice that was left on the ground has disappeared. As some may have seen in my story yesterday, I have planted some vegetables and can't wait to set them outside as soon as the chances for frost decrease even more. Despite social distancing and the long physical distance between my family and me, I had a truly wonderful Easter weekend. The weather has been quite nice and allowed for walks, both in the sunshine and rain and I had wonderful conversations with both new and old friends and of course my family. My parents were so sweet, they sent pictures of their living room with eggs hidden to my brother, his girlfriend and me and we had to count how many eggs we would find in the pictures. It was really sweet and funny and we had a blast chatting on video with eachother! April is really bringing the most crazy weather changes. Only a few days ago we had a snowstorm and got a fresh, thick layer of snow that turned the landscape into a winterwonderland again. And since then the weather has been nothing but spring-like. We had 10°C and sunshine today and I could walk barefeet on the forestground. I am so happy about so many things in my life at the moment. Since moving to Sweden different things have been challenging. But even though I underestimated what it would be like to move here, I never, not even once, regretted my decision to move here. I love the light and the nature here. And this winter that has consistently had the worst weather and yet I am so thankful to be here to see it. I got a job that I really love and I have the most wonderful people in my life, both in Germany and in Sweden, that always make me laugh and feel loved and understood. And lastly I have the sweetest little cat living with me. Even though the atmosphere is full of tension at the moment here and all around the world, I am happy to be alive and to be where I am. Twenty-seven. Today I turned 27 years and because of the current situation I spent the day with only a few of my friends instead of more people that I had originally invited. I felt uncomfortable having all those people in one place, so I cancelled the original party and decided to meet all the people separately on different days.
