weekly gaming:
ubisoft has detailed its 2019 plans for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, debuting a fresh wave of seasonal multiplayer updates. And marking a fresh start for the hit tactical shooter, new playable Operators, locations, and more are on the way. While official details on Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 are limited, we've wrapped up everything known so far.
Year 4 is here Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Pass Prepare for Year 4.
The Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Pass grants full access the future content, with early access to Operators, exclusive in-game gear, and progression boosters.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 roadmap
At the Six Invitational 2019, Ubisoft formally unveiled its long-awaited Year 4 roadmap, detailing plans for its coming year of content. Paired with a reveal of Operation Burnt Horizon, the first season of the year, this establishes a strong foundation for what lies ahead.
As with past Rainbow Six Siege annual roadmaps, Year 4 is comprised of four distinct seasons, themed around new counterterrorism units (CTUs). It's a well-established template, bringing two playable Operators, one multiplayer map, and more under each seasonal refresh.
Year 4 also brings changes to seasonal content, distancing itself from traditional setup of themed expansions with an accompanying new multiplayer map. Focusing on map reworks, Ubisoft also plans to ship its most diverse roster yet, spanning seven regions.
Year 4 Season 1, better known as Operation Burnt Horizon, features Australian Operators Mozzie and Gridlock, alongside the new Outback map. Future seasons will focus on map reworks for existing locales, paired with two Operators from different CTUs.
Year 4 Season 1: Two Australia Operators, new Outback map Year 4 Season 2: U.S. Operator, Denmark Operator, Kafe map rework Year 4 Season 3: Mexico Operator, Peru Operator, Kanal rework Year 4 Season 4: India Operator, Kenya Operator, Theme Park rework Ubisoft has also outlined mid-season events between mainline content drops, serving as their "playground" to explore concepts outside core game modes. Dedicated teams for Operator balancing, player behavior, and playlists will also debut new changes throughout 2019.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Operators
Year 4's inaugural personalities launched with Operation Burnt Horizon, hailing from Australia's Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) unit. This duo of grease monkeys brought new traps to both sides, dubbed Gridlock and Mozzie. While Gridlock's Trax Stingers keep attackers on their toes, Mozzie's drone-hacking Pest Launcher proves equally challenging. Three future seasons will feature Operators spanning six CTUs, as detailed in its roadmap. It should bring considerable flexibility in the game's art direction and abilities throughout Year 4.
Ubisoft has also begun teasing its plans beyond Burnt Horizon, via an asset for its newly-revealed team leader, Harry "Six" Pandey. Its pinboard background stows teasers for upcoming content, including references to Danish and Peruvian Operators slated for later this year.
The image frames the mysterious Danish hero as an "expert in covert reconnaissance and stealth tactics" with the "ability to blend and adapt into an environment." And discussing ties to Vigil, the new "calculative" stealth Operator likely hails from Denmark's Jaeger Corps special forces. References to Peru can also be spotted, associated with the anti-trafficking efforts of the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series.
Year 4 also brings reworks of Operators, aiming to balance the existing roster via substantial overhauls. The leading candidate in 2019 is Operation Chimera's Lion, known as the highly-controversial attacker with his wall-hack-style ability. His rework shortens the Evil Eye's duration and ditches the full body outline for a red marker, aiming for an intel-driven utility.
Glaz also sees an overhaul, with his heat vision now only activated when stationary. Mute, Capitão and Dokkaebi see changes too, fine-tuning their abilities and how they interact with other gadgets.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 maps and reworks
Multiplayer maps also remain at Year 4's core, tied to each seasonal release in 2019. However, Ubisoft is scaling back investments in new settings, addressing the growing pool of fan favorites with critical flaws.
Outback is Year 4's only new map, exploring the Australian red desert through a two-story service station. The L-shaped construct splits into three distinct zones, each boasting unique gameplay. The open garage hosts vertical encounters with long sightlines, while the motel and restaurant foster tight angles and close quarters combat.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 also packs three full map reworks, reviving existing in-game locations with a fresh coat of paint. Like 2018's Hereford Base rework, map layouts are refreshed to improve overall flow, while also offering a new palette. Kafe, Kanal, and Theme Park will debut in their respective seasons, tweaking room layouts, moving objectives, and more.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Pass
With Year 4 comes the Year 4 Pass, offering paid year-long bonuses for Rainbow Six Siege players. The game's premium membership is now live for the coming year, with exclusive rewards for early adopters.
The Year 4 Pass retains the seven-day early access to eight new Operators, alongside 600 R6 Credits, the game's premium currency. Various title-wide bonuses also return, include 10 percent in-game store discount, 5 percent Renown XP boost, and 0.3 percent Alpha Pack advantage.
Those who purchase the Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Pass also recieve the "Lava Six" charm with its fiery glowing finish. And for purchases before March 4, 2019, the "Volcano" universal weapon skin packed an equally hot touch.
Rainbow Six Siege's Year 4 Pass is now available for purchase on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, via Amazon, priced at $30

Rainbow Six Siege Officially Unveils Australian Ops, Gridlock and Mozzie
Following on yesterday’s unusually light teaser trailer, we have now got a complete and proper introduction to attacker Tori Gridlock Tallyo Fairous and defender Max Mozzie Goose, the Australian odd couple from the Special Air Service Regiment that is coming to Rainbow Six Siege in the most awaiting Operation Burnt Horizon.
Tumblr media
Gridlock and Mozzie, Rainbow Six Siege’s highly anticipated Aussie ops, have now officially been revealed. Following a large number of teasers regarding Operation Burnt Horizon, Ubisoft’s newest blog post shares the full backstory of the new Aussie ops. Thanks to a various number of leaks, we have known the names and some minor details of both the Aussie ops for a while. However, it seems that we had it another way around the whole time. Contrary to what many of the leaks suggested, the female Aussie operator Gridlock is actually the attacker, and the male Aussie operator Mozzie is the defender.
Attacker Gridlock, a straight-ahead farm girl from the lands of Central Queensland, deploys Trax Stingers that were originally designed to be used against armored vehicles to add a new dimension to her team’s control of their environment and surroundings. Defender Mozzie, on the other hand, is a show pony who generally uses a crossbow-deployed Pest to hamper the attacking team’s efforts of intel-gathering.
Gridlock
First described as a quite a stoic Attacker who is just there to get the job done perfectly, the girl named Gridlock is the SASR’s attacking operator. Tori Gridlock Tallyo Fairous is a farm girl from the lands of Central Queensland who has joined Australia’s SASR special commando forces unit, and now in the team Rainbow. Her gadget, the Trax Stingers, are designed in such a way to stop pursuing vehicles in their tracks and also add a new dimension to her team’s control of their environment and surroundings.
While the exact complete details are yet to be revealed, we can only confirm that Gridlock is equipped with the red web trackers, which we saw in the previous leaks.
Mozzie
Defending Aussie operator Max Mozzie Goose is aptly described as a show pony. Unlike his childish and silly behavior leads you to believe, he is a powerful force to be reckoned with. Mozzie uses his Pest device to make the enemy think more than twice about their strategies of intel gathering.
Again, no complete information is there regarding Mozzie’s gadget, but it is majorly implied that his gadget allows him to hack and take control over the attacker drones.
They are completely set to bring quite a change to the Rainbow team with their can-do Australian attitude and a unique sense of humor, which may turn out to be in the way just what the doctor ordered, said Ubisoft.
The new trailer shows the operators in hyper action, but for my money, the “quiet” teaser of yesterday’s, which you can check out on youtube, is far more entertaining as compared to the trailer. Ubisoft also dropped the notes of the designer for Operation Burnt Horizon today, that some big changes are coming, so you will want to give that a look on that too.
Rainbow Six Siege year four season one, Operation Burnt Horizon, will be finally revealed in full during the Six Invitational in Montreal on sunday February 17.

Rainbow Six Siege’s Burnt Horizon operators are fiendishly fun
It should come as no surprise that the first two operators of Rainbow Six Siege’s fourth year promise to bring serious utility to the table. After all, Year 3 was packed with meta-shifting operators like Lion, Maestro, Clash, and Nomad - every season broke with Siege tradition, whether that was the addition of global abilities, the first defender to get a shield, or nomad gifting the attackers their first trapper operator. Burnt Horizon’s Mozzie and Gridlock continue the game’s power creep, but also bring some much needed levity to this highly competitive shooter. That fun comes mostly from Mozzie, the new Australian defender from the SASR CTU. His gadget is the Pest Launcher, a crossbow that fires Pests that latch onto attacker drones, hacking them and adding them to the defender’s arsenal. Mozzie can gain control over a maximum of three drones, often before the action phase has even begun. This allows you to immediately counter-surveil the attacking side and set up a welcoming party to meet them whenever they try to enter your building. Alternatively, you can use your army of drones to harass and distract attackers: pinging their locations so they know they’ve been spotted, baiting them into traps, or just shaving a few precious seconds off the clock to deny a defuser plant. With a creative player at the helm and a well-coordinated squad, Mozzie is a boon to roaming defenders and at the very least reduces the number of drones at the attacking team’s disposal. Better still, Mozzie’s Pests can wrest control of Twitch’s Shock Drones, leading to absurd scenarios like denying a hard breach by using a captured Shock Drone to destroy one of Thermite’s Exothermic Charges. from https://www.pcgamesn.com/rainbow-six-siege/burnt-horizon-review

Operation Burnt Horizon Announced for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft announced during the Six Invitational today the full details regarding Season 1 of Year 4 of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
Dubbed Operation Burnt Horizon, introduces two new members of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) Platoon. The new Attacker Gridlock uses Trax Stingers, which are a portable version of road spikes that deploy a hexagonal cluster of spikes. The new Defender Mozzie, on the other hand, deploys a Pest Launcher, which latches onto the nearest enemy drone, thereby obscuring its camera.
These two newcomers bring with them the Outback map, which is a lonely service station that has been forgotten on one of Australia’s motorways.

Analyzing the newest operators of Rainbow Six Siege’s, Gridlock and Mozzie
Operation Burnt Horizon is now live and we have some completely new operators in the field. Gridlock and Mozzie are the new additions to the roster of Rainbow Six Siege, and these two latest operators are already disrupting the way in which players approach every match. Let us take a look at the operators and their multiple different abilities.
Mozzie, the two-speed defender, two-armor, is a truly unique and amazing operator. His ability to take over attacker drones with his Pest launcher should be quite a powerful one. When using the ability of Mozzie, players can easily launch a Pest at an attacker drone to command it, or players may preemptively choose to trap a hole of a drone, or any other high traffic drone area in order to capture the drone of an enemy. The latter of the multiple options allows the new player Mozzie to capitalize on the false sense of attackers regarding security while droning, and the former need some serious aim skill to properly execute it.
From the point of capture, the new player Mozzie can freely use the drones of the attacking teams against them to give the defenders with unprecedented data and information. The use of the ability of Mozzie slows attackers in a way that is completely unique.
It is true that we have Maestro and Val, but their main intel abilities remain completely passive on a very large basis, as attackers can spot the cams of the defender, and know that they most likely will not move for the duration of the complete match. With Mozzie, the dynamic gets a bit more intensive and complicated because he is just only one quick turn away from relocating the flying drone that is captured to a safe and secure spot away from the line of sight of attackers. From experience, when a player loses sight of a drone that is Mozzie-controlled, it causes a sinking feeling in the gut of the player that causes them to rethink their Rainbow Six Siege instincts. The mechanic greatly adds to the cat-and-mouse nature of Rainbow Six Siege.
Up next is Gridlock, the new 1-speed, 3-armor attacker. We have to say that Gridlock is an extremely interesting and helpful operator when it comes to countering roamers. Gridlock sports the Trax Stingers as her main ability, which transform from a projectile that is thrown into the worst nightmare of a roamer. The Trax device lays down a mat that is hexagon-shaped that is covered in damage-dealing spikes. Not only do the Trax deploy, they multiply in themselves to fill an entire complete space, leaving attackers cut off from entering a particular site, or escaping a gunfight.
Mozzie and Gridlock are refreshing additions to Rainbow Six Siege on all accounts, and it will be quite very interesting to see how all the players find various new strategies to better implement their respective devices. Go shake up the meta now. Operation Burnt Horizon is now live, and both Gridlock and Mozzie are already tearing up the Outback.
